i like burr. I think he views life through a very specific lens and has a hard time switching to anything else. His opinion on "privilege" is 100% class based vs being split between class and race and runs into problems that way. He at least thinks through all the problems, even if i dont agree with all his conclusions its usually funny.

Will users of this site be allowed to say they enjoyed it, or will they be banned on site like in the Chappelle thread?

When will the thread become a sensitive thread? Will there be an official announcement or thread mark?

So are Trump's campaign rallies. Are you telling people not to get upset by what they hear? Comedy can actually be as dangerous as Trump's rhetoric. I'm not saying Bill is on that level, but some of Chappelle's transgender jokes are.
One is a politician, whose sole purpose is power and to enact change...

The other is a comedian. Someone who says things and writes strange observations to make people laugh and get a rise out of them.

Their roles and importance couldn't be farther apart.

Are we seriously at a point that people think a comedian has the same power and dangerousness as our shitstain president?

His last Nextflix special was pretty bad, but I liked the ones before it. Let's hope this one is decent.

I'll say this, as someone who's seen it live and got a little, uh, triggered ... the set is def the best out of his last three if you're willing to embrace your privilege.

Fucking love Bill Burr and I can't wait for this special.

I know the thread here is going to be just like the Chappelle thread.

In a normal world I'd agree. But Trump is no politician. He's a performer and a narcissist. Just like a comedian. And both Dave and Trump attempt to normalize hate speech.

I really enjoy Bill Burr, but I've had to stop seeking out videos of him on YouTube because it almost always ends up filling up my recommended videos with red pill garbage.

Does everybody listen to his podcast?

I used to, but I fell off. Now I only catch up on the episodes where Nia is on, she's always calling out his bullshit and it's great.

The one where he was looking at porn and she caught him is fucking hilarious as is the one where they talk about when she hit her head.

It's funny. When I saw him here in Seattle, I saw a few dude bro/red pill types wandering around before the show. The kind of guys who don't "get" the jokes for the right reasons. Nia actually mentioned this once in the podcast. She was like "half of your audience ain't shit" or something like that. Bill knows too, that's why it seems like he'll go out of his way to make sure his jokes don't sound TOO much like punching down.

It's been a while, but didn't he call out some of his audience during one of his specials?

Something about them coming up to him after the show and talking about he was saying things they were thinking.

I LOVE Bill Burr, but he says the same jokes a lot. He said the "working on me" bit on Conan.

I thought it felt familiar. He's definitely lost some of his edge when doing shows. He does better during interviews, this one is still one of my favourites.

And perhaps his funniest Conan moment ever,

Really like burr but wasn't crazy about his last special. Looking forward to this one, hope he can get back to punching muffins tier

Oh Jesus! Bill Burr is great, probably my favorite comedian. I also listen to his podcast and I saw him live this year, so I know this special pretty well.

Love that instead of engaging with people's criticisms for what they are, you'd prefer an echo chamber with no dissenting voices. Sounds pretty sensitive to me.

I mean, the special isn't even out yet. What is there to discuss right now? The trailer? The name of the special? Bill's past?

Destroys.

sure he's off a bit here and there but the lows come with some huge highs.

I don't think you all will like it tho with some of the discussion around here on this topics.

Have actually never seen Bill Burr stand-up, though have seen some youtube clips. Huge fan of Chappelle though, get similar wibe from the trailer. But this thread really sells me on the podcast, will give it a listen on the commute!

Burr's bits have gotten pretty tired. Saw him live in November and everything just felt so familiar.

What? I haven't watched the special yet
Ah, I thought you meant after watching the special that it seemed similar.

I don't know, I saw him in March in Amsterdam and thought he was great. Haven't seen a bad show from him (haven't watched this one yet) but I do find if you watch clips of Conan, Kimmler, etc.. of his talk shows, he will use a lot of stand up material from it.
