From the other thread, with some changes, and after a few more listens (of it and the other songs):

It's not bad, but it just doesn't really do anything....

Reviewing the 'modern' Bond themes (from Bosnan on) I'd place it in the bottom third. Then again, that's more an indication of the general greatness of Bond themes.

A quick ordering of the themes gives me this: (though a few of the spaces could be traded around)

You Know My Name - Chris Cornell
Skyfall - Adele
The World Is Not Enough - Garbage
Another Way To Die - Alicia Keys & Jack White
Tomorrow Never Dies - Sheryl Crow
GoldenEye - Tina Turner
Writing's On The Wall - Sam Smith
No Time to Die - Billie Eilish
Die Another Day - Madonna

I'm ok with this list

Yup, that's about what I would've expected. I like the bit around 3:20, but the rest of it is just kinda fine.

You Know My Name still the best of Craig's films.

It will always be hilariously sad that they passed over Radiohead's Spectre in favour of that basic bitch song from Smith. Despite loving Radiohead, I didn't think much of Spectre on first listen, but placed over the title sequence it works so well.

Nothing will ever beat the GOAT, Die Another Day.

That being said, this one is... it's fine. It's just fine.

It's a good song. But no where near one of the best for Bond. But definitely not a shit tier one either.

Having listened to it twice, I will say it's a good song, but it's not a great Bond theme song. It also reminds me of The Writing's On The Wall, and I know people didn't like that one.

Even worse, Radiohead made two songs for Spectre and they were both passed over!

Definitive Craig-era song rankings.

You Know My Name
Skyfall
Another Way To Die
No Time To Die
Writing's on the Wall

Good listing. I might switch Skyfall to #1, but I'm not entirely sure because Cornell's song was really great.

EDIT: Nah, just had a quick re-listen to Casino's theme, yeah it's #1, lol.

Another Way to Die has to be dead last of the five...it's such a discordant fucking mess, and the vocals get actively annoying.

Smith's "how do I live" falsetto is really cringey and feels out of step with the movie that it's paired with in a number of ways, but I think at least the strings sound nice.

It's not bad, there's just not a lot going on until the end.

I echo the person that said Florence and the Machine should do a song. Breathe of Life was amazing for the Snow White movie. That's a powerful song.

Also the best title sequence. Classy card motif, no cavorting women, badass silhouette action. What a great mission statement for the film. Between the black and white opening, the gun barrel scene, song and graphics, the excitement upon seeing that sequence for the first time was palpable.

Also RE: Another Way to Die. It's not one of the best in the pantheon of themes by any means, but it's big, spiky and brash. The latest two themes have been joyless dirges. I'm no fan of Adele, but at least her tune is big and retro in a good way.

I'm guessing the movie will use the last 2-3 minutes of the song for the intro, and skip the slower first min.

Also apparently Johnny Marr played guitar on this?

I guess two people yelling in opposite directions could be described as big and brash

They passed over Shirely Bassey for that.

New Yawk City!
I actually like it more than "Skyfall," which I thought was a solid miss. But the liveliness and vocal power we saw in songs varying from "License to Kill" to "Man With the Golden Gun" to "Goldeneye" are sorely missing. A lot of these Craig-era songs ain't got it.

I like it. Leaning into the haunting aspect works well.

I was pretty disappointed that Skyfall kind of pretended to be ramping up but Adele never even got to belt really.

Not my cup of tea but its miles better than Writing on the Wall. As for No Time to Die, well if Smith won an Oscar, Eilish might win it too.

I love Billie Eilish and this is pretty good but I don't think it approaches you know my name and Skyfall.

I like it. I think I'll like it even more in the opening credits sequence.

Calling it now, Billie will win the Oscar for this.

A pretty boring Ultraviolence-era Lana del Rey imitation. Might as well hire the original already, but for some reason they always skip her for the flavor of the month.

It's very... eh

I kept expecting her to open up and last thing I know it happens to an extent in the last 10 seconds... but still constrained way to much. It was like she was told to hold back the entire song.

Honestly think that it's the format of the title sequence that holds up the potential to have a really good title song.
