1. Production is an integral component, especially when that production is handled by the artists themselves.
2. Hearing her tracks in an acoustic setting dispels this, though, the impact of her music is absolutely not dependent on the above.

The lyricism, the delivery, the tone, the melodies, the production... it all adds up.

Yup, and it doesn't work here. The slavish devotion to the bond theme formula ends up making this track nothing but a snooze.

I disagree. While it's not the strongest of her work in my opinion, it has a lot of mood that will translate to a strong theme in-film, even if it might not make my playlists.

Also don't understand how you can say "yep" while you completely disagreed with it in your previous comment, lol.

I mean I never said she wasn't responsible for her production. AFAIK, it's just her and her brother, and it's still the element that makes that album worth listening to. You can seperate the lyrics and the production and judge them individually, but it's not like she's not responsible for both.

That being said, the moment the song decided to move away from the more juvenile lyrics which aim younger in a song about young love, separation and betrayal (something a lot of her songs deal with) in order to LEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN on the bond muted horns, I just rolled my eyes. This song is boring AF.

It's fine for a modern bond them in that I will almost surely instantly forget which movie it's tied to within a week and just go back to listening to propellerhead remixes of the shirley basey themes which are timeless.

It's fine. Not a song I would listen to often on its own, but as a Bond song it works pretty well for me.

You said "yep" to my post that said there was more to her music than just the production, directly after saying that's all there was to it. I'm just confused what your yep was aimed at.

I didn't say that's all there is to it, I said it's the main reason why it's interesting.

Billie Eilish's music is interesting because of the production surrounding it. Without that production, you just get a very Lana Del Ray/Fiona Apple/Devi Lavato style songstress on sad strings and it's boring.

And that quality isn't present here. Which is why this song is boring.

I don't understand how this in unclear, but I'll try to explain it better...

Something being interesting implies it has elements that make it so, saying her work lacks those parts outside of production is saying the production is all there is making it interesting, which is what my "all there is to it" is referencing.

Yeah I'm not sure. It's a nice song but a bit slow and dreary, it doesn't get me amped up to watch an action movie. I know Bond songs are often slow ballads, but a lot of them just work better and build to better crescendo, this is sooooo slow and quiet it almost puts you to sleep.

It's fine. It reminds me of skyfall but without any bombast or energy. If the second half had actually picked up and built to a reasonable climax I would have like it more but it just stays flat up until the last 15 seconds of the song, and even then it falls just short.

Got hyped when I saw a new Billie Eilish song pop up on streaming, started listening and thought, this sounds like some James Bond shit, having no idea it actually was some James Bond shit, so good job I guess.

The structure is there it just needs some hot sauce on it.

It's definitely stuck in first/second gear for too long. I hope the arrangement in the film itself is better.

I know there were a couple different versions of "You Know My Name" before Casino Royale came out and the version in the film put it all together, so hopefully this is a similar situation where this is just the one they're eyeing for radio play.

This sounds like something that would play in the middle of the movie, not the title. I'm kinda meh on it. Most Bond songs have their own signature feel, not getting much from this track.

Yeah it has grown on me. Especially the 2nd half with headphones on is quite good. First Eilish track I officially like lol.

Would put it at #2 right after Skyfall for best Craig era songs. I see why people like You Know My Name but a good Bond song for me just has to have female solo vocals to hit the right mood

"Billie Eilish can't sing" is fast on its way to becoming as annoying as "rap isn't music"
Her singing is definitely not a strong point in her USP. Particularly if comparisons to Adele as a performer are made. Her range and control are nowhere near that level.

...and The World is not Enough remains my fav Bond theme.

Here I thought I was hip the young crowd as I listened to MO and Nina Nesbitt, but Billie Eilish gives me the same vibes as that Slayyyter song someone linked here months back. I just few old and out of touch :/

From the few acoustic bits I have seen of her she has a fairly nice voice with a good range. She can't belt them out like Adele can, but Adele feels like a pound shop knock off that style anyway to my ears.

The song is just incredibly safe and dull. It aims to hit all the "right" notes for a bond theme, but unfortunately none of those notes plays to Billies strengths. I had hoped for something more experimental rather than Skyfall without the powerful vocals.

This track kinda reaffirms my fear that I feel like all the Bond themes since Skyfall have followed a cheat sheet, like they keep trying to recapture how amazing and one-of-a-kind it was, but it just doesn't hit the same catharsis.

Eillish's voice is great but the instrumental is really forgettable. Unlike the Spectre theme, at least this one has some slight flourishes of guitar/percussion to give it a more unique flair but they're just that; flourishes. It feels like they should've really been more integral to the track in general. Could've been great but I'm kinda underwhelmed.
A lot of the bond themes are samey. This was a thing before Adele. Matter of fact "skyfall" reminds me of "the world is not enough" which came before it. This theme is just ok. Not one of my faves but not straight trash like "die another day."

Haunting vocal, loved it, her voice and style are very distinctive. My all time favorite Bond song is..... Gladys Knight's License to Kill, song is so underloved.

Not impressed but I also don't like her music much so that didn't help. The fact that she murdered yesterday during the Oscars hurts my expectations of this song.

I mean I like this theme but it's not exactly in the same league as The World is not Enough, which is peak Bond theme

Not generally into Eilish but I thought is was good, I prefer it over Skyfall and certainly over whatever the Spectre theme was called. Maybe not the typical Bond theme but I feel it's a strength, more similar to Radioheads Spectre theme than Goldfinger or something.

Not hugely impressed. Like others said, it's sounds like a mix of the last two themes; not as good as Adele's but better than Sam Smith's. I was hoping Hans Zimmer will work the melody of the theme into the score like David Arnold and John Barry did with their Bond scores...but there's not much melody here to work in. Zimmer's instrumentation here sounds a lot like the simple, unresolving chord structure he's known for since hooking up with Nolan. I do like the guitar touches tho, and hopefully Johnny Marr will add a lot of that to the score.

next Bond needs a more lively song though.

I wish we could all be as classy as that reply.
Maybe one day you will aquire more taste than someone without a tongue.
Also, for the record, since we're talking about taste. It just so happens that apparently my taste includes songs that are Grammy winners. But like I said opinions typically aren't wrong but here we are. My tastebuds are fine btw :D
