Look, look. I can do some naruto shitting, but this is insulting to Naruto. Naruto at least TRIES to make characters that have more than one note. Black Clover doesn't bother.
I thought I was the only one not liking the current arc, everyone seems to be praising it none stop but really it's been dragging on for a while

I feel like people are mainly praising it because its letting the supporting cast be really useful.
And by useful, I mean participating in an overly long gauntlet of boring as hell fights with no tension, where all of the villains have the exact same bland, cardboard cutout personality.
Black Clover is the worst of generic shonen, all combined into one.

Loser MC with unique bullshit ability that is unique to him
"Too cool for you" rival that is amazing at everything
Bumbling love interest with that shifts between being amazing and being awful at everything depending on how the writer feels on that particular day

So a big chunk of the Clover Kingdom turn out to actually be elves, who died out a long time ago and have been hiding in the bodies of people. The villain revives them and the elves overwrite their personalities. Seems the only way to stop them is to kill them and thus kill their fri- HAHAHAHA NOPE ASTA GETS A NEW MAGIC SWORD THAT RESTORES THEM TO NORMAL BECAUSE FUCK YOU!

Maybe it is but it is the same trend we have with the majority of popular series right now. My Hero Academia for example does the same thing. If you can survived the horrible tourney arc "still one of the worst ever" you can still enjoy it. I believe the anime teams are struggling with the material they have in general. They trying to work around with decent mangas and elevate them to great animes. It is not an easy task.
Not much, one hotspring chapter and also beach chapter but that's about it
