She is gonna sue most likely and is definitely gonna win.
Hope the officers are fired and never allowed to work again in law enforcement.

Why were the cops called to begin with? The woman just wanted to speak to a manager. Pretty sure store policy is NOT to call the cops on anyone who wants to speak to a manager.
There is surveillance footage of her jumping on a chair and yelling at staff. Why were the cops called to begin with? The woman just wanted to speak to a manager. Pretty sure store policy is NOT to call the cops on anyone who wants to speak to a manager.
Of course, the cops are responsible for 95% of the situation, but i'm not letting Waffle House employees off the hook on this one.
I see. In that case, I apologize to the Waffle House employees in question. There is surveillance footage of her jumping on a chair and yelling at staff.

Par for the course"We have to wait for all the facts"
*instantly believes the first unconfirmed thing that puts the black woman in a negative light*
There’s been more detail added to the story in this link, particularly about the alcohol, and the security footage being played at the police press conference. It would appear the original story was nowhere near complete, and there were threats of violence towards the employees. Some additional info from WaPo about why the cops might have been called in the first place.

Cops still acted inappropriately though.
To be surprised at this point would require a fair amount of work."We have to wait for all the facts"

Yep. Wouldn't matter how she was acting.I wonder what the reaction would be if three black cops did this to a young white woman... Nevermind. I know the reaction.
This is why the sarcastic "let's wait for the facts" trope is so stupid. There’s been more detail added to the story in this link, particularly about the alcohol, and the security footage being played at the police press conference. The "sleeperhold" was banned from police use because it could easily turn into a choke, but I guess a straight out choke is A-OK.Saw this yesterday.
Deplorable shit. Especially the 3rd cop coming in to put his hands around the woman's neck, like... are you fucking serious? You're not fucking serious, right? He was fucking serious.
Didn't seem like they did matter, beyond them being asked to leave. If a witness couldn't even tell if the victims were drunk. I'm assuming they were using the survalience footage to look for the "They were no saints" card to be played. In the video it didn't look like a person that needed to be rag dolled. This is why the sarcastic "let's wait for the facts" trope is so stupid.
Lol and behold, facts matter.
I doubt it. She was asked to leave and didn't. If every person who was asked to leave, did not comply and was forcibly arrested sued and won and the cops got fired, there would be no cops left. You could argue whether or not that would be a good thing, but by the letter of the law, these cops did nothing wrong. She is gonna sue most likely and is definitely gonna win.

So, it's multiple witnesses vs some lady on facebook.Mims interviewed the three officers as well as witnesses from inside the Waffle House, including six employees and one customer. Of those witnesses, two were African American and four were female, he said. All witnesses confirmed that Clemons and her friends smelled of alcohol and appeared drunk. One person brought a drink believed to be alcoholic into the restaurant.
The witnesses said Clemons and Adams loudly shouted profanities at the Waffle House employees. One of them shouted, “I’ll come over this counter” and threatened to beat the employee, saying “B—-, I’m going to have your job, you ain’t going to be here tomorrow.”
One of the witnesses, according to Mims, reported hearing: “I may have a gun, I may have anything. I can come back here and shoot this place up if I need to.”
Witnesses said Clemons refused to comply with the officers on multiple occasions.
Well this happened near me. Originally there was outrage because the body cam footage had not been released, but once it was opinions quickly changed. The original narrative was that this girl was hanging out with friends when a cop interrupted them and forced himself on her. People were livid.I wonder what the reaction would be if three black cops did this to a young white woman... Nevermind. I know the reaction.
All this video tells me is that for every 1 of these instances caught on tape, there are 100 more that haven't been documented of police literally abusing citizens.Glad they got this on camera at the very least. More people need to see and understand how often this happens.
True, but it sounds like these ladies were not sober. I wish I could say this would never happen to a sober black lady, but c'mon.
6 employees and 1 other witness... hmmm
Eh methed out is some other level.True, but it sounds like these ladies were not sober. I wish I could say this would never happen to a sober black lady, but c'mon.
Also, this happens all the time to drunk, methed up young white women.
She doesn't say anything about what happened before the cops arrived. She's just defending herself from people saying she was okay with what the cops were doing.
It's sad that you think that. I mean, I understand where you're coming from, but I think I human cops could very much do a good job if the system stopped enabling this shit. In other countries, while there are still racism problems, an escalation like this would not have happened.I think we need AI/robot Cops as soon as possible, no more KKKops
Same, ofc we are talking shit about our police here in Germany too, and there are some black sheeps, too (no pun intended). No problems with systemic and institutional racism, no sir.
Every time I hear another horror story like this from the US, I'm glad our police are actually trained and properly educated.
Die Polizei, dein Freund und Helfer.
Unpaid, permanent vacations for those Black officers.I wonder what the reaction would be if three black cops did this to a young white woman... Nevermind. I know the reaction.
This is pretty normal in low income neighborhoods in NYC. It’s a completely racist and classist tactic.this wtf. That shit's supposed to be included with the price of the food.
ehh. I'm white and european. I was harassed to hell and back, first by the TSA at the airports and later by a cop at a traffic check who claimed that my international driving liscense is "not legal" in the US and if I make trouble I will get major problems in "his country". I did nothing wrong and I wasn't cheeky or something like that btw. He also continuously yelled at me "Hands on the wheel". I understand his point (being afraid of guns) but I had to grab my driving liscense for fucks sake. Are you white? European? yeah you probably don't have to worry then. What a sad state of affairs.
Oidaoida, that does sound like a terrible experience to have in a foreign country. The police in the US has go through some major reforms. It really seems they have no training at all. except for shooting people point blank or beating em up

I will never forget that.
I disagree. The question whether police handled this correctly and the issues surrounding it very much remain, even if police involvement was justified.
thanks for the update. There’s been more detail added to the story in this link, particularly about the alcohol, and the security footage being played at the police press conference. A significant portion of the country endorses such behavior and are proud the police are showing those people their place in society. I think if it was only whites and blacks it would be better but racist types are pissed they don't own 100% of everything anymore. Even a 1% advantage to minorities is taken as a grave insulthow can people living in the US take this sitting down? how are they OK with this? how are they not in the street every day protesting this brutality? what's it's going to take for them to actively protest instead of posting on twitter?
this is the correct answer. I'm glad someone else gets it.I don't care what the woman was doing.
Unless she had a knife or a gun with which she was threatening other patrons, the officers went way overboard
If cops behaved like this in India, I swear there would be daily riots and half the country would be on fire
She could have been hollering, "I will murder you all!" but that's just hot air unless she had the means to do damage
wtf man? You think you're going up against an armed cop who's already gung-ho about arresting someone? It's fine to care about others, but if the atmosphere was tense already, involving yourself is just going to make things worse.
