Well, it's on PS4 if you want to play it. I'd recommend it's vastly superior sequel, however.
Wait what? Somehow I seem to have missed this. Thank you!
I played Dark Cloud for the first time on PS4 a few years ago. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to playing the sequel soon!
I remember the demo being soo good, that I've actually played through it multiple times haha. Now that I know it's available on the PS4, I'm too eager to try again and beat the entire thing!

He wouldn't do it whilst they were doing Elden Ring of course, but if towards the end of that development if Sony turned up with a bucket load of money and said make Bloodborne 2 once you're done I reckon he would.

Well yeah, but this game has been in development for 2 or 3 years as has Elden Ring. Elden ring is the evolution of their series.

It's not up to Miyazaki, it's up to the studio's schedule, their projections and what the studio heads want to pursue.

Miyazaki is President of From so he probably has final say on what projects to pursue.

Sony owns the rights to Demon Souls and Bloodborne though.

Honestly if I were Sony and From I would trust Deck 13 with those games

I woulden't. They make decent games but they arent from software. Or rather, they arent a team under miyazaki.

Dark Souls 2 is controversial and it was under the from software label...to see a studio with no connection to the studio ethos at all and has only started making 'decent' games with the surge is just a joke. Atleast Bluepoint will be basing the remake on the original so its fine.

Yes, but Miyazaki has others around him not to mention Kadokawa to answer to. I'm sure they have had plans on their games stretching back years. I remember in 2016, (around when Dark Souls 3 was out) that he'd want to take a break from Souls for a while and they have 3 new projects in active development, (probably meant Deracine, Elden Ring and Sekiro). He also wants to bring back Armored Core, so lets see what happens. I remember on Neogaf that From had a 3 game deal with Sony, which was a rumor anyway but crossing my fingers for Bloodborne 2 eventually.

Pretty sure it wasn't a 3 games deal with sony just a 3 games.

We assumed bb2 or next souls that ended be sekiro. Armored core reboot but still nowhere in sight. We got déraciné. And demon souls remake as far as we know isnt made by from soft...

Bluepoint isn't From nor connected to them either?! Also the ambiguity of "reimagining" has me a little concerned. However, both Demon Souls and Bloodborne are already established IP with established mechanics. I would feel more comfortable with a studio who has penchant and a passion for the soulsborne style and Deck 13 is the only other studio I know of attempting to make this style of game that's had some success at it. But Bluepoint would be fine too because it's already a game that exists. they'd just be sprucing it up to modern standards. Perhaps that's where the "reimagining" comes from.

And as for Dark Souls 2 SotFS.
It's the best game in the series imo. I'm currently playing it as a matter of fact. It's the only game in the series that has mostly a lot of cool ideas and innovations. Miyazaki is very good but not the only one with cool mechanics and design ideas.
Besides the more designers we can shepherd into crafting this genre of game is better for all of us really. No? Think Miyamoto, Aonuma, and Inafune.

Bluepoint isnt making a brand new game. And people already have had criticisms of their design ethos in some cases for remakes with SOTC, but on the whole, if they are tracing someone else's work, its far more likely to succeed than someone advocating for the surge people of all things to make Bloodborne 2, an extension of Bloodborne which lives and dies directly on how From approaches combat, art and design mythos.

In the poll, the only one that I'd be interested in would be Socom.

We have enough Souls games and Souls like games, I do not want, or care to play Demons Souls ever again. So I'll be pretty disappointed if it's that.

I'm excited for whatever Bluepoint's next project is to see what they do with it, but I'm not going to actually play it if it's Demon Souls.

MGS pls

Socom isn't really necessary because of PUBG/ghost recon.

like we need moar shooters,lol.

if anything I'd almost prefer it to be a new IP.

Hell, revive whatever The Agent was supposed to be.Maybe something in the vein of Alpha Protocol.

The spy/espionage genre is in need of some love especially in the rpg department.

And no we most certainly don't have enough Soulsborne's especially compared to shooters.

I honestly hope it's Bloodborne because it's a true masterpiece and seeing it at 4K + 60fps would make my eyes melt. The game deserves better performance than the usual bullshit From puts out on consoles.

Demon's Souls would make me happy too, but I think Bloodborne is From's best game.

Something like a MGS Collection would be crazy and I can't see Konami agreeing to it unless Sony paid them a ton of money for exclusivity.

Imagine Bluepoint re-imagining G-Police.. A huge blade-runner esque metropolis full of flying vehicles with amazing visuals. I would include 3rd person action segments in some interiors for specific missions. Given the limited scope, they could out-cyberpunk Cyberpunk from an visual standpoint.

Why would anyone think MGS? It's not Konami here.
I think it's assumed that Konami is still not on Sony's shitlist based on the Castlevania Symphony PS4 port. I could see a situation where Sony would put the money down for Konami to allow Bluepoint to remake one of the MGS games (specially since they already remastered them).
But it seems that most evidence point towards Demon Souls so I'm not sure why everyone keeps bringing up MGS.

Other than Demon's Souls (the one thing that makes me wary of that is the term "reimagining" they used -- Demon's Souls is perfect for the kind of remake Colossus got), Syphon Filter and SOCOM are plausible in my opinion. Both of those franchises, especially Syphon, make more sense for a "reimagining", a sort of reconfiguration of the formula of each game.

Syphon hasn't been on home consoles since the PS2. Personally I imagine a new console Syphon Filter game assuming a position in Sony's stable somewhere in-between Uncharted and Metal Gear. Metal Gear as we know it is concluded and Death Stranding seems like something totally different. With Splinter Cell also on hiatus, there isn't really a flagship stealth franchise right now, and that kind of game slips right into Sony's favoritism towards third person action games. Ideally it'd feel like a next-gen successor to MGSV (both Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain I guess). But is Bluepoint the right company to make that game?

SOCOM was mainly successful as a competitive shooter, which is something Sony doesn't really have in its first party stable. The closest thing Sony has are Uncharted and Last of Us multiplayer, and how successful are those really? I could totally see Sony bringing back SOCOM as an esports shooter and developing it like its own version of R6 Siege.

It's GTA:SA guys, grand=big
Hell, Could be GTAVm with new assets, ray tracing and instant character switching

One of the earliest PS5 rumours that got very specific said that Sony was going to have a GTA game at launch as an exclusive. It didn't make sense at the time since the rumours were primarily 1st party related. Sony might have convinced rockstar to let them do it.

EDIT: Forgot this is a "reimagining" so GTA maybe doesn't fit. That scope would be too big for Bluepoint.

Getting big REmake 3 vibes.

At first I thought Bluepoint couldn't possibly be doing it since RE Engine's tools weren't translated, but then Project Resistance was announced to be developed by Neobards (not a Japanese company), which means those tools are translated.

- REmake 3 isn't being developed internally
- Big game (RE3 sold millions and millions of copies and Jill and Nemesis are iconic)
- Early RE games were often seen as a "Sony franchise"
- Re-envisioning (hello REmake 2)
- Constant swirling rumors that REmake 3 has been in the works for a while
- Even more prevalent rumors that Project Resistance is an outsourced multiplayer mode of REmake 3, which is why they can't reveal its name yet

Could be that I suppose but why wouldn't they have whatever team that did RE2 Remake do it?

I can't see RE3 being an exclusive after RE2 was multiplat. Makes zero sense.

Same with a lot of games cited here. Syphon Filter is so old it needed to be reinvisioning if this is this one.

I am not a specialist of the Jak and Daxter IP, but I think a reinvisioning of it can be something pretty cool. I am biaised because I love action platformer and this genre is pretty dead even if, based on jstevenson, Ratchet & Clank PS4 was : "the most successful Ratchet/Insomniac game of all time."

Let me explain why it should be Socom.

There is room for a tactical military campaign in third person that is realistic. No paranormal elements or enemies. The levels can feel nextgen and not just be flat. There could be a vertical nature too as well as a cover system similar to what Socom 4 sort of attempted. The online can receive many classic maps as well as new ones. The modes are already thought out. Demolition, Suppression, Breach, Escort, Extraction, and Control. The visuals can be expanded while retaining the same core classic gameplay.

socom4_countdown2.png

wallpaper_socom_2_us_navy_seals_03_1600.jpg

There is room for it. There can be new life.

I am not asking for a new Splinter Cell or Ghost recon open world, or a new Metal Gear Solid/Death Stranding stealth experience. I am talking about a Socom game. It is hard to differentiate them as far as single player at times but there is something quick and snappy about the Socom gameplay that always gave more control than Ghost Recon (Third Person), for me.

The campaign could bring in a bit of cinematic story like how the other Sony AAA titles bring it.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but put me strictly onto the ICO reimagining team.

Not only because they did the Shadow of the Colossus "Straight Remake" recently, but ICO has had an absence on PS4 (outside of PS Now), ICO is a game with it's influence still felt today but a bit clunky by modern standards, and as they're going from a faithful remake to a reimagining, I can see Shadow of the Colossus straight remake transitioning well into a reimagining of ICO.

Of course it could be many things, but I'm sticking by the shaky pillar that it might be an ICO reimagining.

That would broke the game entirely as the environment was design with the old MGS formula in mind.
I mean yeah, if you just throw new gameplay into the old maps like they did with Twin Snakes but I'm pretty sure if by some stretch they actually were doing a MGS remake, the entire game, from map layouts and sizes to guard patrols and camera positions, it would all change to accommodate modern gameplay, it would practically be an entirely different game going in line with the Bluepoint quote.
