I don't play a lot of solo games, but I'm
thoroughly enjoying Middara that way. Four characters, me controlling them all. Getting much better at organizing on my table - the playmats are way bigger than they need to be & are far from essential, but I've got the space so I use 'em. Practically, it could all be shrunk down without the mats + one of the card racks is unnecessary for minute to minute gameplay, but it keeps it organized.
Deep into chapter two, facing some tougher encounters for sure, with a lot of mid-encounter reveals, enemy spawns, and terrain changes. This particular encounter, I survived, but definitely didn't "win".
If you're willing to put up with reading + a bunch of JRPG-like tropes, with a long story driven branching campaign, it's worth a look.Combat/positioning + deciding when to
not do stuff so you can react outside of your turn all adds to it.
