We already knew this. The D&D movie was scheduled for December 2022. It's unclear what is replacing it at the moment.

Star Wars doesn't work as something that can come out every 2 years until infinity, it was always an "event" franchise and you lose that if you release too many movies.

Expanding into television will serve the IP well and let them tell stories without having so much pressure on them.

Thats probably a good thing. They tried to give us too much starwars at once and solo proved that audiences have a limit. One movie every few years is fine, we dont need one or two starwars films every year

For the best. Take your fucking time, plan it out and get the right people involved.

So the Avatar sequels were delayed to serve the schedule of D&D's Star Wars films and now they're going on hiatus.

Fuck.

Haven't they always been doing this?

Not really, it's always been a serialized franchise with 3 years minimum in between instalments (and nothing in between) and decade+ between trilogies for the first 6 films.

Trying to change it now into a "every 1-2 years" franchise is different and probably wasn't going to work.

Christmas 2022 then in the years between the Avatar sequels.

Think they will look to move back into the traditional May/summer slot for Star Wars. The only reason they went to December in the first place was because JJ Abrams didn't have enough time to make a summer release and that caused a ripple effect for the other films.

Good. Disney already did the franchise a disservice by cobbling the sequel trilogy together in a rush to make their money back on it.

I'm pretty sure this is in line what with they had scheduled before. 2-3 years is a pretty small hiatus lol

Is for the best. Star Wars movies used to be events, which doesn't work if they happen every year.

I'd be fine with one cinematic trilogy per decade, released annually a la Lord of the Rings.

Good. Give RJ all the time he needs.

The Clone Wars movie if that's what you're talking about is the biggest bomb in Star Wars history.

They're still doing TV with the Mandalorian and Obi-Wan shows and those should do well if written competently.

You misspelled Solo. Clone Wars film made back its budget.

New film for summer 2023 with Jon Favreau as writer/director, Fiege co-producing it, and a tone more in line with Guardians of the Galaxy (more jokes/contemporary humor) is what I expect. New characters so they have no established rules.

I hope they get the same director to direct all the movie in the next trilogy and go to a different time period preferably old republic. Extremely disliked all the movies in the prequel trilogy hopefully next one will be better.

Hopefully the next trilogy they'll get a decent writer and write the WHOLE THING before making them and don't just "wing it" so they have no idea where they are going or have someone else come in to make a sequel in a trilogy and fuck it all up.

I mean you'd think that you'd want to at least know where the storyline is going to go and the major story beats before you start filming the first movie
