Probably because of the statement released by Foxx's office:
"After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case," according to a statement from the office of the Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx, sent to USA TODAY by her spokeswoman, Tandra Simonton."
I've read this but I also saw Jussie talking about how he has maintained his innocence the whole time. Soooooo confused.

Right, if they concluded Jussie was innocent, they should want to charge the men they know are guilty. They should want to prove in court that this decision they made today was a just one. But instead they're going to seal this decision so no one can ever read it and ignore the crime that occurred. Money can buy you a lot of things apparently.
Since you appear to be having trouble. The bold is a conspiracy that is not proven in any way. Charging someone in a grand jury does not make them guilty.

Foxx conspiracy is literally a breitbart talking point right now.
If you're on it, get the fuck off, she didn't make the final call and we have that on record.

Joseph Magats made the final call, anyone saying otherwise is just falling for fucked up conspiracy.
Gotta love how Brietbart turns this into a scandal/conspiracy. Soros donated to a pro-criminal justice reform super PAC that supported Foxx's election, therefore.....?????????????

yeah, we know what you're saying

Good looking out. Was already seeing this narrative in this thread/elsewhere.

I will say this though. All in all. I'm not losing sleep over this case. It's done now. If yall want to keep the conspiracy wagon going by all means do it.

Although I will say I get some joy out of seeing Rahm and the CPD look like fools.

You mean Chicago PD behaved in a shady and unprofessional manner, and involving a POC?

Not the Chicago PD...

Any time the Chicago PD gets clowned is a good time.

Grand juries don't mean shit. They don't indict officers that kill someone on video with multiple witnesses. It's always been said a grand jury could be made to indict a ham sandwich. Guess that's gonna be the talking point for the racists because it's their engine to endorse institutional racism just got used to trip up their recruiting pamphlet.

A sealed grand jury testimony and a sealed special report have nothing to do with one another. Equating the two is dumb at best

So... Was this police mishandling or was there some issue with the 2 suspects?

Something clearly happened here. You don't just drop charges when a grand jury found him guilty on 16 separate counts.

What sucks about this case, in all it’s current and past forms, you can twist it to just about any narrative you want it to fit in. Everyone can have their field day with this

Two brothers admit they did it on Jussie’s behalf
Police showed evidence to public
Grand jury indictment him using that evidence
State attorney office without notifying police or mayor drops all charges

The smoke is strong and thick

Regardless of whether you think he is innocent or guilty I think everyone can agree that just looks bad from the outside given the way it was handled.

I'm not sure what to think now. I legitimately thought a couple of racists with a noose and chemicals would have killed him, or brought along a few more friends to watch/help, etc.

Unless it really was his coworkers. That would be so weird to return to work with them. Is he going to get back on the show after being exonerated?

This whole thing is fucking weird

Good . Now apply this logic to Manafort, Flynn and Cohen indictments by grand juries and you celebrating them

So is the FBI still investigating the letter with the white substance (Tylenol) and if Smollet was behind it?

I never thought he deserved to do any real time for this and if it turns out he was actually a victim I feel for the man but if he was behind this and he's now back to playing the victim, fuck him forever.
I’m pretty sure Jussie isn’t out of the woods yet, I doubt everyone in law enforcement is going to pretend like the letter never happened. He could still be in a whole lot of trouble.

Forget the narratives, here.... What happened?

I can see only two potential reasons: The two brothers are flakes/not reliable witnesses, and/or the CPD made a pretty serious error.

Black men have been executed in public on video by police and a Grand Jury said 'I don't see anything'.
Uhh... Not that I disagree with you, but that has absolutely no relevance to this at all. He was already found guilty by the jury. Why would you retroactively claim someone is innocent after they were found guilty? That doesn't make any sense.

I bet the cops found some contradicting information and without actually investigating it, they let their bias steer them and went hard on a pr campaign about how the black guy faked a hate crime. maybe the brothers did attack him on their own and were shouting Maga shit to hide their identity. Jussie says he’s going to sue for defamation. Chicago pd doesn’t want all the racist shit it’s officers were saying after the case started going this way getting out there in discovery. Boom no charges for anyone seal it up. Just my guess

If that were the case, the police wouldn't be asking for it to be unsealed.

grand juries don't find anyone guilty, they issue indictments. you know the old saying about how a prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich? the bar for probable cause is not that high.

I'm trying to avoid diving into the conspiracy nonsense, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was close to the truth.

I mean, regardless of what side you fell on in this mess, the one thing I think everyone agreed on at one point or another was how weird it was that we kept getting so many leaks in real time. It was clear somebody was fucking up.

This whole story is something else. I’m really curious to learn what really happened at every stage now.
