I'm not into GTA V but I'd love a Bully sequel. Apparently in the new Casino update of GTA V there is a cryptic Bully reference.

Now usually when a game launches and people find references to other games I just dismiss them as easter eggs to past games.
However, in this case, this reference was inserted in a highly visible new update that was anticipated by players for years... that to me seems just a bit unusual, and more than the usual throwaway easter egg. Why insert a meaningless easter egg here (and now) of all places, and why of Bully, rather than another GTA game or Red Dead or any other old game? There also doesn't seem to be any other references to other games except Bully.

There's been a lot of bullshit rumors about this game but there have also been a couple legit rumors over the years. The timing and location of this reference seems just too odd to be nothing.

Bully me if old.

The reference:

More specifically, in the new update there's the ability to decorate your penthouse with the Decorations Management feature. One of the of things you can decorate is your penthouse's walls with all different types of prints and pieces of art. And one of your choices is the Canis Canem Edit wall piece.

For those that don't know: Canis Canem Edit is what Bully was called in Europe. It means "dog eats dog."

I think is just a reference, Bully 2 is not coming out anytime soon IMO.

Id hope Bully wouldn't be anywhere near the scale or budget of GTAV or RDR2. Seems like a good inbetween game. Especially if GTA 6 balloons in budget again. Though anyones guess on if it gets cancelled or not.

In November 2006, Michael Pachter, Managing Director of Research for Wedbush Morgan Securities, predicted that Bully would not sell well enough over the upcoming holidays to warrant a sequel.[67] However, when his prediction turned out to be untrue, Pachter apologized to Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, calling a potential sequel a "possibility".[68]

In November 2009, The Gaming Liberty interviewed musician Shawn Lee, who scored Bully, and was asked if he was scoring any more games in the near future; he responded, "Yes. It looks like I will be doing the soundtrack for Bully 2 in the not so distant future".[69][70]

In November 2011, in an interview with Gamasutra, Rockstar executive Dan Houser revealed that the studio might focus on a sequel for Bully after the release of Max Payne 3. "Contrary to a lot of people, we like to take a little bit of time at the end of a game before starting a sequel, so we can wait for the excitement or disappointment and everything else of the experience to shake down and really see what we should do in the next game," he said. "So we knew that we didn't want to start doing the Bully sequel instantly at that second with [Rockstar Vancouver] – even though it is a property that, like [Max Payne], we adore and might come back to in the future. There was just no impetus to do that then. So we said, 'You can do [Max Payne], and then we will see what we can do with Bully."[71][72]

In July 2012, Rockstar Vancouver was merged into Rockstar Toronto, and the staff was offered to join a different Rockstar studio.[73] In September 2013, Dan Houser said he has many different ideas for a Bully sequel.[74]

On 28 August 2017, concept art rumoured to be from the development of a sequel leaked online; it purported to show new characters and a run-down suburban home along with a few other bits of art; Rockstar Games did not comment.[75]

On 10 October 2018, alleged casting calls for a Bully sequel were revealed. These castings are to be auditioned at Spotlight in London, England, and shooting would commence on October 26, 2018 at Pinewood Studios, also located in London, and would be using motion capture technology.[76] Jessica Jefferies, casting director on this unknown title, confirmed via Twitter that the title she was referring to was not a sequel to Bully.[77]

Naughty Dog had a playable Crash Bandicoot level in Uncharted 4. Does that mean they're working on a new Crash game right now?

You never know. Is there a reason they suddenly lost interest in developing smaller games such as table tennis?

Time and resources probably.

Also if you want to make a smaller mini game type thing or short story, it would just get folded into GTA/RDR as a mini game or multiplayer expansion.

Also wasn't table tennis really just a glorified tech demo ?

On subject though, I'd love a new bully. The old one hasn't held up as well, but the concept is superb

Not every Easter egg/reference is a tease.
That's what I usually believe... if a game launches with it. But this is Rockstar we're talking about. Sometimes they will reference a future upcoming title in the previous title. Plus, they inserted this into a new update that's highly visible, the update is just not large enough for a find like this to be insignificant. This isn't some tiny thing in a huge game for you to find. They really wanted people to see this.

You never know. Is there a reason they suddenly lost interest in developing smaller games such as table tennis?
Well on the other hand I'd have to say, possibly? They haven't made a smaller game since Max Payne 3... With how long between releases now it looks kinda hopeless they'll do anything of a small scale again. But this easter egg stuff gives me some sliver of hope.
