Octopath Traveler (JP) eShop code
Like a dumbass, I thought that the Switch not being region-locked meant that I could walk into a conbini, buy one of the Octopath traveler cards, and just redeem the code on my US Switch. I realized, after getting back, scratching off the back of the card, and getting an error message from the code, that 'not region-locked' didn't mean quite what I thought it meant.
The card cost ¥7,340 ($66.22). If someone wants to give me a code for the NA version of the game that'd be great, otherwise something around that price would be nice.
I'm pretty sure you can? You would just need to make a JP eShop account
Dont even need to make a new account, just change region on the Nintendo account website to JPN, redeem the code and switch back.

You don't even need to make a new account. Just temporarily change your existing Nintendo account to the Japanese region, enter code on the system's eShop, redeem, and switch back via My Nintendo online portal.
I've personally done this with a Japanese Resident Evil Revelations 2 code.
No biggie. You didn't waste your money, OP.
Oh. Well, thanks guys, that's good to hear. I guess I'll rescind my WTS, then :vDont even need to make a new account, just change region on the Nintendo account website to JPN, redeem the code and switch back.

It is almost always system default. Just have to be sure and check if the JPN or whatever version actually comes with other languages first, e.g. XC2 only comes with Japanese and Chinese I think. If you do this, do the games default to the redeemed regions language or the default of the system?
