So what are the chances of the Ground War mode coming back in one way or another? It's basically more fun Battlefield and the only enjoyment I have outside of Warzone and maybe Search.

Considering one of the goals for the new engine was (supposedly) to increase active player counts, I'd say the chances are pretty good. It would be kind of a waste to not utilize the higher player counts.

EDIT: Also, throw me into the camp of people hoping this game isn't like MW 2019. Get that shit out of here IMO.

It should definitely be bi-yearly.

Will the seasons of MW end in November when 2020 releases?
Most certainly. Usually when a new CoD game releases they end all new DLC support for the previous one. You might still get a patch once in a while and gamemodes rotating, but outside of that I would expect support for MW to end.

Yes, rumor from March is that it will return. Had a write-up of a leak video in a thread about a rumored list of upcoming Activision games:
CoD2020 leak, video is nearly half an hour

  • Sledgehammer's f2p game which is currently scheduled for 2021 is a spin-off. Will have a lot of BR-like elements with some sort of open world
  • Game is a reboot of Black Ops, similarly to 2019's MW being a Modern Warfare reboot
  • Cold War, will explore the Vietnam War a lot more than the original Black Ops
  • More realistic and based more on real events compared to the original Black Ops, more gory than last year's MW and will have a lot of shocking moments similar to MW
  • Will run on the MW engine
  • Vietnam War will be told from multiple perspectives such as the US, South Vietnam and the Vietcong
  • Alex Mason and Frank Woods return, will be played by new actors
  • Game apparently has a very gory interrogation scene
  • 2 likeliest titles are simply Black Ops and Black Operations, might also be Black Ops 5 with heavy retconning
  • MW's large playercount modes return, including 32v32. One Ground War map is a massive ice map with snowmobiles and tanks. Big frozen lake in the middle, forest on one side and bunkers with a train on the other. Very powerful flamethrower available on this map
  • Most MP maps are classic Treyarch 3-lane maps, much less clutter compared to MW
  • Black Ops 4's manual healing probably returns, but yet to be set in stone
  • One 6v6 map is a warehouse map. 3 lanes, massive open field with a sniper tower in the middle, one lane features a river which goes from one spawn to the other
  • Other 6v6 map is set in a Russian-looking city. Lots of cars on the left side of the map, lots of clutter and map is currently too big for 6v6
  • Killstreaks include UAV, counter UAV, a bomber plane which down all enemy airborne killstreaks, dog (doesn't know if it's a dog which follows you or runs around freely)
  • Operators return, Specialist look to be out
  • Zombies to be a lot different compared to BO4
  • Perks, Pack-a-Punch return but a lot more barriers to play and new different ways to play
  • TranZit (the Black Ops 2 map) returns
  • Aether reboot, unclear if it's still the same story or not
  • Chaos does not return
  • DLC Zombies maps might still be paid, MP DLC maps will continue to be free like MW. Supply Drops will not return as well, microtransaction system to be similar to MW
  • Creators at the Warzone event were reportedly told that Warzone will be the last CoD BR
  • As of info from 6 months ago, some sort of Battle Royale was in development for CoD2020. Map was supposed to be Cold War, more gory, gritty and realistic version of Blackout's. Possibly being added to Warzone.

For anyone curious about the gun it's an AK5 made in Sweden on 1982 and has been in service since 1986 this matches with the Cold War setting
it was used on the Soviet War in Afghanistan by the Soviet union here are some pics of the weapon in real life and some bonus ones of the gun in Battlefield 4 for comparison sake:

I'm gonna disagree. I dunno what you guys are on about but this is the most fun I've had with CoD since MW2. My group of friends I play with all are on the same page. Sure there are a few maps that suck but thats every CoD. The guns are great, customization is great, sound is better than ever, match-making is fast and crossplay is cool if you have friends on other systems. Also, the season passes are packed full of shit for $10 and you get the next ones free if you complete the BP. The game play and graphics are tighter and better than ever. I really don't understand why people think MP is trash. If campers piss you off change your strategy and go kill them instead of getting so mad. The maps are great for the most part and cater to all different play styles.
It's better than BO4 but that's not really an achievement. Maps overall aren't better than any CoD pre-BO3. I hope compass won't ever make a return in any CoD, ever. I find warzone 100x better than the usual MP.

I wish COD only had two games per gen and focus on being a GAAS. If fighting games can last more than a year, so can COD.

I really wanted to like Blops 4 but the specialist and ridiculous quick scooping in a game with a high ttk ruined it.

It probably would have been, but each game sells a shit ton, why would they change their model if it constantly sells?

I like MW, despite some flaws, but I'm optimistic for this new game too from the potential rumours and leaks.

This thread (though we don't have a new trailer yet, so it's still in the march part of the cycle).

Not to say that people can't have valid criticisms, it's just funny how spot on this chart can be despite those valid criticisms existing.

Yeah, i usually just use MP to warm up for Warzone myself but I can have a blast in TDM or domination still.

Pro player over at at /r/CoDCompetitive subreddit:
Stay hopeful guys. The devs over at Treyarch are really interested in making next year a great year for competitive ❤️ and I'm being 100% serious

Nope. Just meetings w the devs to discuss "competitive philosophy" 👍🏻 there's more to it of course and tbh I don't even know if I was allowed to share what I just shared. I know how hopeless some of you are but all I want is for us as a community to get excited and to get behind and support the devs over at Treyarch ❤️ spread positive energy guys

Hopefully the game wont be designed to hold the hands of bad players in every way imaginable like MW2019.

I hope that Treyarch won't shove in unnecessary co-op into the campaign. Yes I said campaign, now days COD's multiplayer doesn't interest me but it can be a BLOPS 3 and be the most fun multiplayer since MW1 2007, hopefully the applies only to the MP rather then the SP.

And I would also love a black ops 1 remastered, it's weird how fun COD campaigns are even the "bad" ones. Playing through MW2 remastered has been a very pleasant experience.

November and January never happened this year for many MW players, it started like shit and gets worse and more broken with every day.

The chart was accurate until I played the beta of MW. The actual pvp not the 2v2s. Ready for this Black Ops announcement and hopefully it rewards the constant sweaty aggressiveness.
