Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 |OT| Late to the party

I played Hardcore Blackout quite a bit when it first came out, then it went away and I just stopped playing BOIIII altogether. Someone was telling me today that it was currently available... got excited... loaded it up... lost almost every game to someone spam firing some gun called the Vendetta which I guess you can only get from the pay 2 win box if you unlocked it last season? It seems like a 0 recoil spam fire DMR which can one hit you to the head, like an SDM on crack. What in God's name were they thinking with this shit?

Legitimately the first game I found it in a car is driving in the far distance and goes through a bush,
I take a random hail mary shot at it without a scope through the bush and headshot the passenger the driver jumps out and takes a shot with the paladin and hits me
I fire a double tap at him and instantly kill him as well.

That is easily the best gun in Blackout.

I'd say it or the Locus, which is bugged to have no bullet drop.

Pandemic is pretty fun. Had a Days Gone moment where my friend and I were the only survivors coming out of firing range and we're just trying to climb out and there's a giant horde behind us. It was awesome.

Booted up the game after many, many months away and I forgot how much I hate the special abilities, they just feel so cheap to die to. BO4 also makes me thankful killstreaks are coming back, so that's less shit in the air to kill you. I definitely miss the more boots on ground gunplay of the earlier games. I never got the remaster and I'm wondering if people still play it on PC?

EDIT: Nope, only 92 people in-game.

Haven't played this in awhile, is the no specialist mode still available?
Yes. Barebones moshpit is available.

OT: Looking at the Xbox Most Played chart makes me realize how much people love Treyarch games. The top 50 has BO4, BO3, WWII, and BO2. Meanwhile AW, Ghosts, IW, and MWR are nowhere to be found.

Maybe the reason Treyarch games have the worst monetization is that they have the best player retention.

Thats exactly the reason
Treyarch has the best retention after MW2 and pre-BO4 were viewed as by far the best COD studio

Activision uses them to see how far they can push MTX and Treyarch is fine doing it as the lead COD developer under the guise of extended support .

I almost guarantee MW's will be more like BO's this time around but at least IW won't take months to balance weapons or make people wait 6 months for shitty contract adoption.

I honestly don't get what people love about Treyarch's entries. It must be zombies because I've always found their mutliplayers not up to the level of Infinity Ward. Everyone hyped up Black Ops but when we moved to it after MW2 it was disappointing. None of their maps ever came close to the set available in MW2. BO4 is probably my most played CoD this gen (100% because of Blackout) but they'e still chasing that MW/MW2 greatness imo.

I'm ready to try out that MW alpha, should be fun.

I think the reason is because Infinity Ward started dropping the ball and Sledgehammer changed too much. Most people think MW3 was a step down from 2 and Ghosts is universally hated. Sledgehammer started the advanced movement trend in CoD which got them hated by a good portion of the fanbase.

Meanwhile Black ops 1 and 2 were all loved by CoD fans plus Zombies has a loyal following especially with YTers and Twitch. So it's less that Treyarch is the better developers and more they were making better games while the other two were floundering.

Treyarch's games are generally more balanced, and the higher TTK allows for more tactical fights. They also did a lot to fight campers, to reduce killstreak spam and allow people to counter them, and up until some time ago (until the last BO3 DLCs which were odd) they had some of the best balanced maps - the 3-lane symmetry isn't everyone's bread and butter but it always made for better balance than some of the maps in the MW games.

Black Ops 1 was great. Better than MW2. MW2 was the first COD for many people, but MW2 really was a mess, in terms of both the balance and the playstyles gravitating towards nonstop run and gun.

Maps were COD4 quality in BO1 IMO.

Black Ops 3 is fine, but BO4 is 100% garbage. I absolutely hate zombies though. BO2 is considered the pinnacle for many. I never had much time in BO2, but I guess I can understand why it was loved. It just felt like BO2 started the change in map design, though there's a huge difference of quality between BO2 and BO4 maps.

Yeah that's one thing I always liked about Treyarch. They knew the game immediately becomes unfun the second you feel like a fish in a barrel. It's why the Blackhat was so OP at first in Blops 3 and why 4 has so many ways to take down streaks. It's a design decision that's also angered many in the community, but I for one appreciate it.

I really hope MW has a similar design. We still haven't seen the attachments for launchers.

Hard to get back into Black Ops 4 after that 2v2 weekend. Gunfight is not the mode for me but everything else just checked all of my boxes. Ready for that beta. I might take a couple days off for it, I'm that hyped.

Will Blackout die once MW comes out? Hard to see people splitting time between an old COD and the brand new release.
Probably the best thing they can do is drastically reduce the amount of game modes available in Blackout, maybe only have solos and quads or something. Otherwise it'll be hard to find 100-player matches on any gamemode in a timely fashion, that's for sure.

New event starts today. New contraband is only 15 tiers with an ultra weapon bribe at the end but the event only lasts till Tuesday.

I'm probably gonna bow out of the game once this begins. The amount of crossbows, stingrays, peacekeepers, and Havelinas I already encounter is too much.

HEATWAVE EVENT BEGINS AUGUST 29

Starting 10AM PT this Thursday on all platforms, we’re launching our new “Heatwave” Contraband event featuring earnable bonus Reserves and a new Ultra Weapon Bribe to unlock at Tier 15! Check out the event before it ends at 10AM PT Tuesday, September 3rd, and have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend.

I still play Blackout daily, but 3 Tiers a day is a bit too much for me and I feel like Treyarch deserves to be called out for making these limited time events increasingly harder.
And on the topic of keeping the game and especially Blackout alive once MW is out: it would be great if Treyarch considered adding cross-play if possible.

Same here tanked over 600 hours into it. I think they should make Blackout free to play after the release of MW...I mean the MTX mechanics are already in the game ;)

Intro for the new map, launching September 23rd on PS4

If the outro is an animated like this as well be prepared for the biggest shitshow in CoD Zombies history

I feel bad for the zombies team. Black Ops 4 started off rough (but very fun), smoothed out within a few months, and then immediately fell flat on its face as soon as Summer rolled around. Now they're dealing with this bullshit on top of it, trying to make the best of what little they have.

Log Entry 1469, date: August 28, 1945
Log Entry 1471, dated September 2nd, is recorded at Call of the Dead so this further confirms the rumor that this map will be a Call of the Dead remake.

Yup, pretty clear they're understaffed and are working with a smaller budget than usual. Can't see another reason for these cinematics

Black Ops Zombies ends with a remake of Call of the Dead, a zombies map that originally existed for stuntcasting, and was designed almost entirely around an even more arcadey romp through the map with a constant pursuer.

Can y’all say “wet fart”?
