I'm mainly grinding FFA for now, I win a lot, feels great. I do encounter some aimbots though which is worrying considering I'm on console, and there's usually like 2-3 lobbies at any given time (that the game finds for me, anyway), so I usually end up being put in the same one I just quit :\

its just rumors, calling it a disaster is a bit too much lol
We'll have to see. Treyarch is basically being asked to put together a full game in only two years. Is that enough time to have a campaign? Zombies? Will they be forced to include a battle royale? Will BO5 use the MW engine?

I'm not saying BO5's gonna be the second coming of the Master Chief Collection. But BO4 showed what happened when you allocate resources poorly. This time around they have to allocate resources correctly in a smaller time frame.

2 year games were the norm back in the day, and they gave use their best games with that time

Let's not forget that those 2 years include a lot of work Sledgehammer and Raven already did before Treyarch came in with them also supporting the remainder of development.
And yeah, if the f2p MW BR rumor turns out to be true I'd imagine that will be the CoD BR going forward, maybe it will get some BO5 themed DLC but I doubt BO5 will get its own BR. Should just be the standard Campaign, MP and Zombies package.

This ain't last gen. Games take longer to make nowadays. And they're most likely being asked to make the game cross-gen.

We don't really know how much was completed. The report said Treyarch came in because the game was a mess.

Like I said, we'll have to see. People freak out when devs leave a studio mid development, so I think it's fair to be concerned when an entire studio is effectively replaced with a different one mid development.

Cool, got second place in a blackout match while completing my contracts (45 minutes solo, 3 kills with LMGs) and the after-match report even showed them as complete. But then my contract menu decides that nah, those things didn't happen. 40/45 minutes, 0/3 kills, no cases awarded.

Love it

Had the same issue in MP a few times. As has become normal with Treyarch, every patch is guaranteed to break a bunch of stuff

I just want to say that I am sorry for ever bashing this game in the past. I didn't know COD could hit rock bottom until I played MW.

I had enough of having the feeling to smash my controller after each match in MW, so I uninstalled all 120GB of poor game design and bought back BLOPS4. Holy shit I didn't know COD was supposed to be fun, casual, fast paced action. Wow what a revelation.

Treyarch is the only studio that knows how to make COD games anymore.

Give me BLOPS 5 with this new engine and we're good for 2020.

I knew that people were going to reevalute BO4 big time. It was far from perfect but Treyarch understands that games should be, first and foremost, fun and balanced, with all strategies being viable. I enjoy MW2019's focus on the realistic feels and looks again instead of snowmen shooting rainbows, but it's like they forgot to design a functional game around that style.

Dumb question - is there a way to toy around with the vehicles not in multiplayer? I just want to get a feel for them before hopping in to blackout.

So I skipped this game completely, but I'm finally out on MW (which was my first proper CoD in a few years). I'm considering getting this since I'm assuming it's playerbase is still fine (although I expect to get rocked for a while), but how exactly bad/P2W is the weapon situation in MP? I don't really have any interest in Blackout, I heard MP had some straight up P2W stuff but also saw in the last couple weeks they changed how some of the unlock stuff works. So are you able to get this stuff now without having to straight up buy them, how bad is it etc?

It could be better but it honestly isn't that bad, the only DLC weapon in my opinion which is unbalanced is the Crossbow as it's a one hit kill with no hipfire spread, but only a very little amount of people use it and I honestly can't remember the last time I got killed with it.
Really the only thing I dislike about the game is how extremely common the use of Specialist equipment and weapons is, you're constantly dying not because you simply got outgunned or got caught off guard but because the enemy had some extremely powerful piece of equipment or weaponry which gave them an insane advantage.

Hmmm. How critical is the season pass or whatever? I can get a disc copy of the game fairly cheap (I'd normally prefer digital for MP games but it's CoD so they never really get that cheap), but if I also have to get the $30 pass on top of that it complicates things a bit for me.

Haven't played a lot of the DLC maps but you're fine without it. Wouldn't buy it until you've tried the game and liked it

You can now earn the DLC weapons by just grinding to get to the 50 crates which lets you unlock any dlc weapon of your choice.

Game is proper COD fun, unlike MW.

How is the population on PC these days?

Want to jump back in after being disappointed with MW. Don't have the map packs.

Got a lucky gun offer in my reserve stack. Of course it had to be the VMP, the gun I refuse to run on principle. I've decided I'll keep it in the pocket as a retaliation tool. A 'taste of your own medicine' for VMP lobbies. God, I hate this weapon.

Pretty bad, I'm told.

That's more like it. I wonder if there are strings attached.

So am I missing something with the Reaver (crossbow)? Is there no way to only fire one bolt? Pull the trigger and two bolts fly? Given that it is a one hit kill this seems strange. Also, default ammo stack is just the two bolts total (without extended mags)? So you have to run scavenger to use it more than once? I feel like I have to missing something here.

Whelp, accidentally fresh started at prestige 5. Good enough time as any to say sayonara. There's some fun stuff in here, but between the horridly optimized menus, network issues and funky hit detection, and then wanton imbalance with seemingly no interest in fixing, I'm gone for good. The VMP is pretty much on the level of the VPR in Infinite Warfare after it got overbuffed, but there they tuned it into something reasonable within two weeks. Here we are several months down the line and Treyarch doesn't seem interested in acknowledging that something is the matter. And maybe this is just a difference in CoD subcommunities, but you will get barked down by large portions of the community for suggesting that anything needs to change, when half of the guns in multiplayer are the VMP, another fifth or so is the Micromg, and then there's about a third for the rest.

Nah, it's just an awkward weapon. I think it used to have a stronger ammo situation before being nerfed, but that's just conjecture. You can retrieve the bolts, too, but that's a risky proposition. The ballistic knife is better at most everything. Although I found the Reaver to be more useful in Zombies.

Had to reboot this game again after mistakenly playing MW even after the trash beta. Yep. Feels so much better.

What's got me moving back to BO4 (and also trying MW) is the fact Apex just shot it's own foot off with the SBMM implementation.

I'm already terrified of Treyarch's game later this year also having SBMM. If it does and it's something Activision mandates I'm done with the franchise.

Yep. SBMM just means you make the game easier for newcomers and at the same time make it harder for older, better players. Only small problem there is that those new players will eventually reach the same point as the older players and then guess what? They have a game where the player never feels like they're getting better at it.

Having fun again in Blackout and TDM. The maps aren't anything to write home about and yet it's still miles ahead of MW. Something like Seaside I really don't care but that shit looks like a godsend compared to Picadilly lol. Simple routes, and you can easily gauge where people would be spawning.

The DLC maps are ass, however. I don't like any of them and see it as a waste of money considering I don't play zombies that often.

Will I be able to get a multiplayer game going on PC or is the situation that dire?

Edit: Installed and played it for a bit. This game is still good fun. Nice maps, minimal to no camping etc.

Ooof, who the fuck is making zombies this year then?

Even with all the issues, BO4 remains my second favourite COD multiplayer of the generation. Betwene the Sledgehammer switch, the retooling, the devs leaving, the pandemic... either this Call of Duty doesn't make 2020 (and maybe with Warzone and MW2 Remastered they could finally afford a break for once?), or it risks being quite a trainwreck.

Reinstalled today to see if anything has changed with the game and it might be more enjoyable....NOPE.

Played half a game of FFA and deleted the game again, it's just terrible. And coming from MW2019 it looks like fucking ass too.
