I wouldn't be surprised if the aesthetics get updated next week.

As for the changes to TDM and KC, they have been confirmed by Treyarch's Twitter, so it isn't a bug or anything.

Sadly going to miss out on the SWAT, was in the hospital for weeks and then wasn't feeling up to playing once I got out for nearly a month.

Anyone else find themselves playing better in Blackout after some time with Apex? The TTK in Apex is so long that guys drop comically fast in Blackout by comparison. Getting the most kills per round I've had in a while.

When the models load in a hardcore TDM pre-match screen and you see the guy next to you resting a rocket launcher on his shoulder.

Score limit for TDM (and KC) should just be set on a map by map basis. 100 for small maps, 90 for medium maps, 75 for large maps. You put it at 100 on all maps you're gonna turn matches on big maps into a snooze fest, and if you put it at 75 on all maps then matches on small maps will be over in the blink of an eye.

Yeah, it feels off.
It's funny to see how people (on the losing team) still bail around the 60 mark for the opposing team, even though there are still 40 kills to go..

Wow, played Black Out last night after not playing for ages, it was rough.....managed to mostly get a kill per game but was getting wrecked, didn't make top 50 in a single game lol.

Decided to play squads, to learn the ropes with a group of randoms, didn't go well, no one talking, with three other guys, they zoom off on a quad bike leaving me behind, squad comes over the hill and wastes me.

3 new vehicles in the video, a convertible, police car and police helicopter (could just be a skin for the helicopter we currently have). New Operation is called Grand Heist. Treyarch has also once again updated their Twitter avatar, and in the corner you can see the clock tower from the BO3 map Outlaw.

Double XP weekend is live, until the 19th. If that doesn't pull people away from Apex...

(/s obviously)

I don't mind them trying, though. Took the Cordite from level 1 to level 5 in one game with 2XP. Never touched it before, but it is a surprisingly able gun. Then again: what isn't in HC?

New Operation is called Grand Heist. Treyarch has also once again updated their Twitter avatar, and in the corner you can see the clock tower from the BO3 map Outlaw.
Outlaw buffs confirmed.

Seriously though, I hope there is a balance patch for MP incoming.

I'd really love to have some new maps in the game right now, but I just can't bring myself to buy the season pass knowing I'm just going to dramatically reduce the potential player pool I can be matched with. I really wish they would just drop paying for maps in COD. It's such an old model at this point and I can't help but think many people have just grown tired of it.

At the very least I'll wait for a big sale where I can get the maps far cheaper.

There is a special place in hell for people who are in a lobby of ten and leave it 1 second before the match starts. On purpose, anyway. It happens so often, and with multiple people quitting at the same moment, I wager they were in the create a class screen, wanted to return to the lobby screen when they saw the timer approaching 1 and they accidentally pressed O twice because the menus are laggy as hell in this game.

Still dumb, though, because you could just wait out the timer in the create a class screen.

So I have a bit of a theory about Treyarch's Facebook cover image: I think it's Spectre, the Black Ops 3 Specialist. And like some people have already theorized since BO4 released I think it's Jessica Mason-Green (the woman in the Specialist stories who gets her lower jaw blown off and replaced with a robotic piece).
Now as to why I think the person in that image is Spectre:
  1. That person isn't showing their lower jaw, something Jessica might do as she wants to hide that she had hers blown off and replaced
  2. Spectre is a word used to describe ghosts, or an source of terror or dread, which fits perfectly with the imagine of a skull instead of a normal human face (obviously, if my theory is correct I expect her to have an actual human face in-game)
Also, even though Spectre talked with a male synthesized voice in Black Ops 3 his/her gender was never confirmed and the game lists the gender simply as "unknown". And although I can't confirm this myself, apparently when you play as Blackjack in Black Ops 3 and take Spectre's Ripper he apparently says he sold her it.

Jumping back over to Blackout from Apex is pretty interesting....

The gunplay in Blackout is just superior. Nothing beats the ABR in my book. The overall shooting in Blackout just feels better. The TTK is super fast by comparison which doesn't bother me too much....Just makes playing a little bit smarter. The map in Blackout is also superior and I love having vehicles to get around.

That being said, there's other things that I can't do without now after Apex. The ping system is bananas. The looting is much cleaner and faster. Switching attachments from your current gun to the new gun you just picked up is instant. I also love the re-deploy balloons and overall mobility better in Apex. Sliding down a hill like a snowboarder is amazing. No fall damage is a gamechanger.

All in all I'm super pumped to have 2 games that I love to play and when once gets stale I just jump over to the other one.

I pretty much have the exact same thoughts as you. I like the outplay potential a low ttk offers. Even on your last legs of health, you're still deadly to a full health person if you shoot fast and accurate. In Apex, if you're shields are down you have no chance against a full health/shield person. A lot of it is probably because of the headshot protection.

Healing in Apex is absolutely horrible compared to Blackout where you can atleast get a couple of bandages on you mid fight. If you have to repair health and shields in Apex you're a goner unless they really suck and don't commit to killing you.

I think that's the big difference between the two games: If you and an enemy are both shooting the fuck out of each other and are taking damage, Apex is offering a more risk vs reward scenario because it forces you to full commit to the kill or retreat to heal up and risk being killed if the enemy full commits to the kill. Someone has to full commit though usually and that's what I'm seeing when I win or lose fights with people.

In Blackout you can get shot, duck behind a rock and quickly patch up health and get back to fighting. You can also run and heal which is really nice.

I think they should definitely tweak the timings, especially for the low health and shield items. It feels like 10 seconds to get 25 health/shield.

I've not even came back to blackout yet. Kinda don't even want too and that's odd considering how much I played it before. I think all the enhancements and progression aspects of Apex pulled me away. It just feels on another level from every angle. I love the map and all the choke points and flanking options in that game as well. Also the Apex map has elevation and vertical aspects that blackout doesn't really have. Even without vehicles you move faster and can traverse easier it feels.

I'll probably jump back to check out the map adjustments but if it's not much then I don't see it holding people on. It looks like they are adding other vehicle types into blackout from that video?

I also don't see a future roadmap with this mode as I did before. I think future iterations of cod br modes will be better planned for updates. Unfortunately this was the first attempt and will not have the needed resources as it should. It really needs a large team dedicated to frequent updates and changes.

Yeah should have worded it better, IMO you go down way to fast. Don't understand why they decided to nerf armor across the board, should have left it at the lvl3 armor repair nerf.

I agree. And I think the new TTK plus Apex jumping on the scene is part of the reason we're seeing it dip in popularity a bit too. In my opinion, BR games need longer TTK's because the stakes are higher. Once you're out, you're out. Blackout feels almost instantly like you're dead before you can even react now.

Blackout needs to go F2P ASAP to keep it viable. Just make it a whole separate mode with it's own dedicated team updating it. They've got a great foundation but Apex is already #2 on XBL and Blackout has fell to #4. Granted, BO4 has been out for 4 months now but still....They need to react to the current climate here.

OK, I have this sinking suspicion that they broke something or introduced a bug. I've played 4 games of TDM and there were more scorestreaks in the air than i've ever seen. Like, 4 UAVs going up at the same time, then 30 seconds later 2 airstrikes, then a drone squad and a strike team and 4 CUAVs, then 2 more UAVs. It's insane. Just finished a game where i was on the losing side 100-25. Yes, that game was so lopsided that it could have been we just got stomped, but the game before was 100-75 and the same thing with the scorestreaks happened. Maybe I'm wrong, but it really seems like there is an exploit to stack streaks. Something feels off. PS4 btw.

Edit: I wonder if this has something to do with care packages. I was just in a match that was pretty even at the half. Then all of a sudden it was constant care package drops - like 10 in a row. And the scorestreaks obviously went nuts. Game went from 50-45 to 85-60 in a flash. There were 2 or 3 UAVs and CUAVs up at a time, then a drone squad, then two hellstorms.

I love Apex and Blackout for different reasons. Apex requires a lot more coordination with team fire IMO especially because of shields and movement speed. Blackout you can more easily get a kill especially if you have the drop on someone because more of the weapons seem viable even at mid to long range. ABR is beastmode!!

Man is the Cordite just complete shit at hitting anything beyond 5 meters or what. Got it to level 8 in a few games with 2XP and going to leave it there.

Next up on the 'guns to level' list... the SDM and Koshka. Oh boy.

Edit: The problem with sniper rifles in this game isn't the game's fast pace, small lines of sight or lack of good camping spots. It is the fact that you can't trust your cross hairs. When you have a gun which only gives you one try, make it or break it, you have to know a shot aimed at someone's body will actually hit that person in their body. But in this game, with these servers, a shot dead at someone's torso can still miss.

I feel it is too inaccurate at mid to long range, which is where most of my fights happen. So the MK9 or GKS (hardcore only) tend to be better SMG choices for me.

That said, I have been playing without long barrel so far, and that significantly increases its 1-hit kill range (from 15 to about 27,5 meters). So maybe I will revisit it tomorrow. Experience gain is so high now, it feels like a waste not to take some of my neglected guns all the way to max level, if only so I never have to worry about them again.

There was something about them improving upon the current situation to increase content output, but I don't think they ever said anything about an unified management.

If CoD developers could stop releasing huge balancing patches in the middle of CWL matches, that'd be great. Infinity Ward does it, Sledgehammer does it and Treyarch does it, they just don't give a fuck.

I really hope Activision breaks Blackout off of Black Ops and gets Infinity Ward to make a Chernobyl map filled with Modern Warfare gear.
If they really want consistency.
Like they don't even really need to mess with a lot of stuff, most weapons are almost reskins anyway (ABR= MW2 M16, etc )

Not too impressed by most of the (weapon) balance changes. But maybe I simply expected too much. Perhaps Treyarch really is happy with the specialist spam that is MP.

Treyarch can take their Strike Team buff and shove it up their ass if I'm being honest. FUCK BULLET SPONGES.
Not to mention the Drone Squad buff. Fuck that scorestreak.

Strike Team is just weird. Utterly overpowered against regular gunfire, but a single combat axe, Paladin headshot or High Cal. II headshot drops them instantly.
