I'm finally able to get my hands on Blackout HardCore mode today! Any impressions from the PS4 players out there on this mode?

I hope future CoD multiplayers use the Black Ops 4 TTK and healing style. It was a great change of pace and definitely improved the game.

Yeah, the multiplayer is a grower for sure. The TTK is awesome. The healing and how you can sacrifice more frequent healing for an extra throwable is great. It also reduces the grenade spam. The balance is awesome, hopefully Treyarch's ideas will once again inspire the other devs in the rotation as well, like they did with the Pick 10 system among others.

Not a fan of the healing style to be honest and I hope MW4 goes back to the traditional mechanics.

It's nice of Treyarch to try and mix it up, it isn't horrendous but I am not keen on it.

The healing style isn't make or break for me. I just think they found a sweet spot for the TTK. It's not too long but you feel like you can get out of a stick situation too. I just don't want them to go backwards. How they handle this transition will be really important for CoD going forward.

The TTK is awful though once you factor in sniper rifles. They are a OHK despite damage (figures taken from in-depth from Drift0r) showing they shouldn't be!

Specifically for console gaming, they should be, especially bolt-action ones considering the map design and speed. I don't really consider those type of guns (or the MOG) when talking about a time to kill. It's more the domain of ARs and SMGs. Basically do you have to time to react and maneuver even after taking a couple shots and in this game you definitely do compared to past CoDs. It feels good to be able to outplay someone with map knowledge and unexpected play even if they get the drop on you and it raises the skill ceiling. It's just a sweet spot for me because COD usually has such a short TTK that you're instantly dead. It's nice to have some room to outplay while also remaining somewhat short. It can be too long so that it feels like a chore to play (like Overwatch for me).

Treyarch has the worst post launch monetization models. In Black Ops III it was the supply-drop locked guns, and an overall too grindy SD system for how diluted the content pool was. Now it's a slew of overpriced CoD-point only bundles and grindy passes, with supply drops to boot. Also worth noting that they introduced microtransactions and the series' first paid DLC weapon in Black Ops II.

I guess this is why they got to keep making content for BO3 up to mere months before BO4's release.

Whatever. No skin off my back. Haven't played since early January. Bought WWII last month instead and I've already got all but three of the post-launch weapons. The game has issues, but I'm four prestiges in, whereas I couldn't be bothered to get past level 40 in BO4. I just hope that one day the game becomes interesting so I can come back to it and feel like I didn't waste $25.

Hopefully MW4 has a model more like Infinite Warfare, with the item buying of MWR/WWII.

I can take or leave manual healing, but damn do I want fast health regen back in future CoD games. I love how fast how you can play with Stim.

I don't want to see BO4's TTK again. It does reward gunskill more, but I thought Treyarch was going to make headshots matter without High Cal, and they walked that back ASAP. High TTK makes flanking less viable, because you're way more likely to lose a 1v2. (Teamshotting, ugh.)

TBH high TTK and manual healing feel like they were made for Blackout first, and then ported back to MP to increase commonality between the two games. Same with the whole "Tactical Rifles" category in MP.

New Zombies perk

If I had to guess: killing a Zombie with a headshot makes the Zombie explode. Can be used to kill multiple Zombies, but can also damage the player if the killed Zombie is close.

Even Blackout?!
Thanks for letting me know

Well they just reduced the number of people to start a game from 100 to 80 in all Blackout modes so things don't look so great. It's worse if you are in South America or the Middle East since I always read about how it's much harder for them to find a game.

I quite liked all the changes made to gunplay. Rushing has been the name of the game in CoD for years now, and BO4 was the first to walk it back and offer other meaningful styles of play that could compete on the same level as rushing.

That'd be super overpowered. I hope that's not the way Treyarch goes about this new perk, because BO4Z is already a bit too easy for my tastes. I can sleep my way to round 30+ on all the maps.

I've never been a great COD player but if you want to absolutely slay everything in MP and Blackout then go play Apex for a few weeks and then jump back over to BO4. The short TTK in BO4 makes killing feel like a breeze by comparison to Apex. I played a round of Blackout and casually got 8 kills in my first game back. I usually averaged half of that with my squad.

Wow I've been getting stupid good luck with Reserves.

At the start of the month I got the SG 12 MK11.

Last week I got the Mozu Replicant.

And today I just got the KN-57 Kuromaku.

I'm at 102 now. So will be getting a lot more reserves from here on out.

The Oracle in the new Zombies map helps you. Can revive players, open doors, give ammo, highlight quest items (shield parts for example). Pretty cool. Some more stuff:
  • EMP and Sparrow coming to Blackout
  • Collapse damage increases the longer you stay in the Collapse

Doesn't help that the cosmetics are absolutely garbage.
Hopefully MW4's is more like MWR, AW and WWII's.

1 match of Barebones, and it's genuinely already the most fun I've had with BO4 MP. Not dying over and over again due to Specialists weapons and equipment just makes the game soooooo much better.
Only downside is that you have to change up your classes as some other stuff like Special Issue Equipment, Gear and Operator Mods are also banned.

Such a joke that they gave everyone two damn abilities. Like I just dont get how they thought it made sense.

they need to just admit their mistake and make the tactical abilities cost a loadout point and make the traditional equipment free to use. Barebones is fun, but it just splits the base.

Got the Rampart Mk. II from my free case, so that's nice. I enjoy using that weapon a lot.

Nah, specialist and generic equipment should both cost one point. One of the best things about this game is how effectively Treyarch curbed grenade spam by introducing persistent cooldowns and made a lot of specialist equipment benefit your team instead of affecting the enemy. If you want to fill a specific role with your specialist, you should be required to spend a point to get their equipment. Otherwise, you can pick a generic item.

Mark my words: if 3arc made frag grenades free, you'd eat crow.
Being able to use your Reactive Camos on EVERY GUN is amazing.
It's hilarious seeing how the Access Denied camo works well with maybe three or four guns total, and on every other weapon in the game, it's an absolute nightmare.

I prefer free equipment on cooldown. It addresses the spam of fresh equipment on respawn

Making it a loadout point makes them completey useless

Again, I disagree. Making it cost a loadout point makes players consider dropping perks, weapon attachments, or even gear in order to use generic or specialist equipment. If you make specialist equipment cost a point, but generic equipment is free, you'll have wrought fragageddon, and I don't think anyone realizes how awful that would be.

Wow barebones cuts out so much BS. Its a shame they had to make specialists so overbearing

Also, Blackout still feels fun and underrated to me. Map is beautiful and hardcore is really fun, though I wish theyd at least let us access our menu to arrange the equipment

CoD Youtube is getting angry at that hammer that you buy for 2800 COD Points (forced bundle with tiers and loot boxes). The official Twitter accounts that announced this bundle are also getting drowned in negativity.

The name "triple play" doesn't even make sense this time because there's 4 kinds of items in it.

Microtransactions are really out of control now and there's no way I will be buying next year's COD.

Had to delete 38 GBs for the 11 GB patch....downloaded quite fast though I feel like the game is devouring my 1TB hard drive with these nonsense requests.

For people who prefer the classic COD style game, try barebones. I did stop playing this game regularly because of the specialists spam and today I played again. This barebones mode feels/plays like BO2. Its unbelievable how it feels like a different game without the specialist BS.

Hope they make this as a permanent mode.

Yes, this is the main thing that I hate with PS4.

I'm not sure on the exact amount of days, but I believe the current operation is over in like 35 days or so? Probably gonna get the next CoD's announcement soon then as they surely wanna avoid an overlap between CoD2019 and the next operation.

And yeah, Barebones is great and hopefully I'll never see some Specialists bullshits in my games ever again.
