Just tried the Battle Royale mode in Call Of Duty Mobile, and holy cow it's so much better than Blackout it's not even funny :\ I mean, obviously Blackout is the more polished experience, it has better graphics, better feel and gunplay and all, but there's so many great ideas and functionality is so much better if you consider the platform's limitations. Equipping stuff is a lot quicker, you can use TPS and FPS mode like in PUBG, classes offer more variety to the gameplay loop, it has squad drops like in Apex, it's a lot easier to grasp what item is what as a newcomer, and so on. There's a lot the mainline games could learn from this game's BR mode, too bad they probably won't.

Third Person is all the reason for me to not even give BR in Mobile a try, fucking hate it when people can peek around cover due to being in third person. If someone sees me I should be able to see them.

I came back to this game after a long break, and I never really paid attention to the Black Market/loot box stuff, but are the guns earned in loot boxes more powerful than the default guns? If so, how much more powerful are they? I read something in another topic alluding to this, and I've been getting frustrated watching kill cams where I get their health down to 40-30 tons of times, but they just mow me down so quickly and easily in comparison. Do I just need to "git gud", or is everyone using a certain set of loot box guns, and the multiplayer is broken in this case? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

Personally I think the weapons in the cases are way better than the standard guns. Some are reskins of regular guns (SWAT RFT but then you have some ridiculously OP stuff like the VMP)

It's a main reason why I stopped playing Black Ops 4. Too many DLC guns and other crap locked behind reserves and poor balancing.

Heavy Metal Heroes is back in the rotation...hell yeah.
I have to admit playing normal quads, or duos feels too slow after playing a ton of HMH.

HMH felt and feels like a breeze of fresh air and I sincerely hope that it will stay as a permanent mode.

COD BLOPS 4 is over - long live the Modern Warfare King.
Played the last rounds (for quite a while I guess) of Blackout with my friends two days ago.
Almost all of are switching over to Modern Warfare now.
Let's see if that BR itch will pull us back for a few round of Blackout from time to time.

I gotta admit we had an awesome time with BLOPS4, but we are not the typical COD players.

I think a lot of people will look back at BO4, remembering how many things we took for granted in this decade of Call Of Duty, stuff that Modern Warfare cancelled entirely.

Big new update coming November 5th: https://www.reddit.com/r/Blackops4/...er_29th_update_infected_final_stand_pandemic/
In just one week, we're dropping our next big update during Operation Dark Divide across all modes, including:
  • New rewards to earn, including the all-new MicroMG 9mm SMG (first on PS4)
  • "An Ice Day in Hell", our new Gauntlet for "Tag der Toten" in Zombies (first on PS4)
  • Weapon tuning for the AN-94 and Echohawk Dual Bore in Multiplayer
  • Scythe tuning for Reaper in Multiplayer
  • Zombies weapon tuning for the Reaver C86 and other weapon improvements & fixes
  • Several Zombies improvements and bug fixes, including fixes for the outro cutscene error in "Tag der Toten", unlocking Diamond Camo on the Hellion Salvo, Dying Wish not always activating upon death, and more
  • Create-a-Class fix for Weapon Charms and Death Effects not always staying equipped
  • + more
Watch for next week's full patch notes to see everything new coming to Black Ops 4 in this update.

You've also been asking about what comes next. Just like with Black Ops III, we'll be keeping things fresh going forward. Here's the plan:
  • MULTIPLAYER: We know tons of our players love jumping into Nuketown every chance they get, so we're making the Nuketown playlist permanent starting Nov. 5th! Each week's showcased Featured Playlist will also grant 2XP on all platforms, so you'll be able to rank up twice as fast whenever you'd like going forward. We're bringing a massive list of 2XP Featured Playlists into rotation, and we'll also be scheduling plenty of special 2X multiplier events and Quad Feeds throughout the year.
  • BLACKOUT: We're planning to give players access to more limited-time modes on a frequent basis in our new LTM Moshpits as part of a streamlined playlist interface to keep wait times low between matches. Keep an eye out for more 2X Merit events down the line to help you rise through the Echelons.
  • ZOMBIES: We'll be adding a huge list of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes across multiple maps, as well as support for the newest weaponry in the Mystery Box and Armory. We're also officially making the Titanium Treble offer permanent in the Laboratory to give everyone more ways to redeem their Nebulium Plasma rewards.
  • BLACK MARKET: Shortly after our Nov. 5th update, we'll be introducing completely new ways to earn Black Market rewards just by playing the game. Stay tuned for a full blog in the coming days with all the intel on what's changing.
A new weapon and you can earn it, thank fuck for that!

I play Black Ops 3 a lot and was wondering whether this one was worth getting into? I don't like Battle Royale so if that's what most of the game is focused on, then I'll skip it. I'm just worried about longevity and hoping it can last me many years seeing as how I am not feeling the new Modern Warfare.

If you're still playing BO3 a lot I suggest just keep playing it unless you LOVE Specialists or hate the advanced movement. BO4 is honestly just BO3 with Specialists on crack and without the advanced movement.

Ah, then hopefully Black Ops 3 continues to retain a population. lol Next year's COD is supposed to be what, another WW2 game or from the same developers?

Finally had time to put some time in multiplayer for MW. Now I remember why I only like the Blops sub series. Blops 5 is next year right?

Same. And yeah, we get a Black Ops game next, but best keep exectations low: Treyarch's gotta save a failed Sledgehammer project in about 18 months, repurposing the work they have into a Black Ops experience. I'd be surprised if they took the basics wrong, but there's solid chances of the game having limited content, a messy launch, and generally feeling very unfocused. One praise I can give to Modern Warfare is that it is consistent all around, BO4 seemed a lot more experimental in that sense with Treyarch clearly changing some philosophies last second (the wallrun was obviously removed at a late stage, it's very visible in maps and even some minimaps that it's something that was in at one point). Still, a half-broken Treyarch game will probably feel better than MW multiplayer does right now :\ I am still in disbelief that they just threw out every positive evolution they, Treyarch, Sledgehammer, Raven, etc. brought to the table in the past 12 years, going back to the ass spawns, the bad maps, the claymore spam, the insanely low TTK and so on, ignoring great changes like pointstreaks, Pick 10, theater mode, perk balancing (eg. Ghost not working if you camp), etc..

So I guess Treyarch will actually continue supporting the game?

I just hope that the new "seasons" don't have daily login bullshittery since the game is now "outdated". Just have fixed XP levels or something and no time limits, allow people to play from time to time as a pleasure thing as opposed to being forced to grind to unlock it all. Not a lot of people are gonna grind for an "old" Call Of Duty.

Big changes are coming to Black Ops 4 to give players a direct path to earning new weapons and rewards just by playing the game.

Tomorrow, we're adding gameplay improvements and bug fixes to the game on all platforms, in addition to new rewards and a new Zombies Gauntlet on PlayStation 4. Then, starting November 12th on all platforms, we'll be revamping the Black Market for Black Ops 4 to make all functional content, including base weapons and items in Blackjack's Shop, unlockable simply by playing the game.

In this upcoming update, all players will get more access to more rewards. These changes will include:
  • A new, regularly scheduled "Pick-a-Weapon Bribe" bundle available for 50 Reserve Cases that allows players to select the weapon of their choice (see details below).
  • A new rotating "Reserves Stack" that always displays an item from Reserves that you don't currently own, which you can unlock by trading in 2 Reserve Cases.
  • Two new rotating "My Deals" slots that can be unlocked with Reserve Cases and will always showcase items you don't currently own.
  • "Reserves Stack" and "My Deals" will refresh on a regular basis to reveal a new item, and will refresh instantly after the current item on display has been acquired.
These changes will give players the freedom to earn items available in Blackjack's Shop with Reserve Cases, and for the first time, players will be able to see Reserve items before acquiring them through the new Reserves Stack. The above items will also be available for optional purchase.

The new Pick-a-Weapon Bribe bundle will appear in Blackjack's Shop and the Reserves tab in the Black Market, allowing you to unlock a weapon of your choice from a Crate that also includes 2 Reserve items, along with a bonus of 5 Duplicate-Protected Crates, all for 50 Reserve Cases. This opens up a new way to earn the exact weapons you want in addition to unlocking more weapons through Reserves.

This bundle will allow you to choose from Reserve weapons that you don't currently own, including Mastercrafts, Signature Weapons, MKII Weapons, and base versions. Keep an eye out for this offer to refresh in the future.

Well, if anyone here is still playing the game I hoped you've saved up those Reserve Cases :p

I was saying, that all sounds great and all, then I read the part about them rotating the weeks with Blackout: some weeks won't have solos, others won't have duos, others won't have quads. That sounds like a horrible idea, and while I don't play much Blackout, Solo is basically all I care about so not being able to play it when I want sounds like a bad time.

Factions unsurprisingly 100% dead. I still believe the original factions concept was rolled into contracts and the concept they wanted to do was scrapped once cod 2020 happened.

So with the updated Black Market system coming soon which will allow you to earn a DLC weapon for 50 Cases I thought I'd make a very quick overview on how fast you earn Cases

Contracts: Multiplayer, Blackout, and Zombies all give players 6 Contracts which refresh every 24 hours. Not all give Cases however, but some do. To give somewhat of an indication of how many Cases you could earn every day via Contracts, here are my Contracts which give Cases for today:

Multiplayer:
  • Play and complete 5 games of Kill Confirmed (1 case)
  • Get 40 EKIA with 5 attachments on your secondary weapon (1 case)
  • Get 5 kills with the Gunship (1 case)
  • Get 5 kills as a result of using a Specialist Weapon (2 cases)
Blackout:
  • Play 45 minutes in Solo (1 case)
  • Kill 2 enemies while they are seated in a vehicle (1 case)
  • Kill 3 enemies while underwater (2 cases)
  • Place 1st in Blackout in any of the following: Solo, Duos, Quads (2 cases)
Zombies:
  • Play 20 total rounds of IX (1 case)
  • Survive 10 rounds in a row with one shield (1 case)
  • Get 150 kills using Pack-A-Punched weapons (2 cases)
  • In Gauntlet Mode earn a Silver Medal (2 cases)
Additionally you'll get 1 case for about 1 hour of MP and Blackout gameplay, and if you've completed the Contraband Stream (50 tiers) you'll get 1 case for every other additional tier you've progressed which takes about 1 hour, so that'd be 2 cases for every hour of gameplay. Additionally you'll get 1 free tier a day if you win a MP game or get some Merits in Blackout, and you can get a 2nd tier skip a day if you complete the Daily Contract in Zombies.

Yeah, it's absolutely not bad. I played a bit these days, multiplayer only, and I probably got like 15 crates or so, simply by completing very easy challenges. Seems like a solid system.

Been playing FFA for most of the night, and the game keeps putting me into this hellish lobby where half the players are legit hacking. Everytime I run the search for FFA I always end up here. People legit turning invisible, not getting damaged, getting melee kills from like 10 meters. Hilarious, but also rather sad for the players involved. Imagine needing validation so hard in your life that you cheat in a "pointless" videogame.

You say that but stuff like the Stingray was far worse than the 725 or the M4

Single weapons isn't even the biggest issue. It's the map design, the TTK, the perks, the abilities, the movements, the visibility, the streaks... it all was designed with a questionable balance as a design choice, and the results are that it's pretty unsatisfying most of the times - for me, anyway. I can't imagine Treyarch doing worse than that. At least they know how to balance maps (uncreative at worst, but almost always balanced), how to handle classes, pointstreaks, Ghost, etc..

The 50 Case bribe which lets you pick a gun of your choice also comes with 5 Duplicate Protected Crates (3 duplicate protected items, so a total of 15 new items) which normally would cost 30 Cases.

Giving this more of a shot now that they've made DLC weapons slightly fair to get (though only one a month is BS). Got my first and only victory in blackout on my first game back. Still haven't breached the top 10 since then. Too much sound fuckery and bad luck. I do wish you could just load into a new game instead of going back to the main menu every time. Seems like a huge waste of loading.

Also, did they lower health/increase damage in blackout at some point? Feels more see-first-die-first than ever, which leads to some frustratingly random encounters. Maybe it's just connection...

Edit: woop woop, won my second blackout. Had to parkour around a madman trying to run me down in a convertible.

Edit edit: Oh god why did they bring the VMP back? This motherfucker of gun nearly ruined Black Ops 3 for me, and it's everywhere here as well.
