Leica Q2 will be announced soon and to come with 47mp sensor.

The latest version 1.1.0 of the Leica FOTOS app already contains a listing for the upcoming Leica Q2 camera which is an indication that the official announcement is coming soon:

Nikoshita also reports that two different resolution settings were added in the app - 47MP (for the Leica Q2?) and 64MP (for the Leica S3?) - this confirms the Q2 rumors I reported last year:

  • No changes to form factor, focal length (28mm), or aperture (f/1.7)
  • A significant increase in megapixels resolution
  • The increased resolution will enable additional "digital zoom" crop option at 75mm focal length (currently only 28mm, 35mm and 50mm are available in the current Leica Q model)
  • The Lecia Q2 is expected to be announced in 2019

Anyone has a prediction on the price of the potential a7000? If it's close to a7iii, it's gonna be real difficult to make a choice.

Honestly if it's priced too close to the A7III just get the A7III since that camera will get the features of the A6400 in an update.

A7 III and A7R III are getting the always on Eye-AF, but not the improved AI-based tracking. Apparently that requires the A9 processor that always happens to be in the A6400.

I bet it's going to be between $1800 and $2500. The rumor is that it will be their pro APS-C body, so they might even try to charge more, but that seems unlikely to me given the competition. I'm hoping that it's basically an APS-C version of the A9 with some improvements.

Interesting enough. I haven't looked into the upgrades that heavily to be honest. I'd still take either over an A6400 because of the DOF, focal length coverage and high iso advantages.

All this new release talk means I better wait and see how the market reacts with price points and such. Don't think I'd go Sony for APS-C though, XT-3 still is the best bet for that. Still feel the A7III has to come down in price in Europe first or that I better wait for an A7 IV next year.

I'm renting the XT-3 next month when the weather becomes more fair. Another friend is also looking for a good option for a new camera and we'll test it out at the same time, using each other as subjects etc :P.

The X-T3 is great. As long as you have good glass for it there are no complaints.

What's everyone's kit consist of?

I don't use mine as much as I should but this is my D850, Phantom 4 Pro and my partner's GH5.

Mine is just a D7500, the 16-80 2.8-4.0 lens, a 12-24 4.0, a 35 1.8, and a 55-200 4.5-5.6.

I'm going to buy the 20 mm 1.8 ED next and then the 200-500 5.6. After that, I may get the manual 50 1.2.

Nikon:
D810, D4, 2.8 24-70, 2.8 70-200 G2 Tamron, Tamron 35 1.8 VC, Nikon 85 1.8G
Fuji:
X-T2, X-T3, 2.8 50-140, 2.8 16-55, 90F2, 56 1.2, 23 1.4, 35F2
Sony:
A7RII, 2.8 70-200GM, Sigma Art FE 35 1.4, 50 1.8G, 85 1.8G
There is lots of over lap, at some point I'll get a macro on something I think, but I'm not sure which system I get that for.
The rental only comes with a kitlens and they don't offer anything else. Still good enough to get a hang of the controls I guess.
Good enough to get a good idea on the controls, but image wise I didn't even fall in love with my X-T2 till I actually put a prime lens on it. The kit lens is serviceable but I was never too blown away by it.

Mine is super pared down due to a recent brand switch, but I'm totally covered for my hiking lengths.

A7R3
Sony 24-105
Canon 100-400 II
Canon 40/2.8
Helios 44-4
Sigma MC-11 EF to E adapter

Biding my time for an RF Mount body that's worth a good goddamn.

Define what you mean by "variety" please. There's pretty much a Fuji camera for everybody unless you need full frame.

I wanted full frame, yeah. The thing I was most frustrated about my point & shoot and phone pictures were how bad they are at low light without flash.

What's everyone's kit consist of?

I don't use mine as much as I should but this is my D850, Phantom 4 Pro and my partner's GH5.
- 6D MKII;
- Canon 24-105mm F4 II;
- Canon 35mm F2 IS;
- Canon 50mm F1.4;

Now I want a better portrait lens, like the 85mm 1.8, maybe selling my 50mm to fund it. I found the I like the 35mm a lot more than my 50mm at low light because of the IS, and the 85 would be used when I wanted something longer. Another option would be saving some more and buying the 70-200mm 2.8. The extra reach would be useful in events and for animals on the farm, but that's a lot of money!

That makes more sense. Fuji isn't too hot at high iso despite having a bigger sensor than a point and shoot. That whole system gets saved by having 1.2 and 1.4 primes. A good portrait lens is the 135 F2, it's not as popular as the 85, but it's great. 70-200 2.8's are great for events that's why I always get them. If you can find a good deal on a Tamron 70-200G2 in Canon mount used then get it.

Nothing wrong with that. I'd love to have one to be honest...or an R1XRII or whatever, but one's affordable and pocketable a bit and the other ain't.
Yeah, no doubt. It's a great camera.

I mean that's just pure photography right there. Honestly I'm jealous, wish I could strip down to that level.
Tried quite a few setups and cameras before I settled on an X100F. Worth it but in the future I'd like to have an ILC system but there's nothing in that form factor and quality that isn't a lot more expensive, IMO.

Thanks for the sugestion! Indeed the 135 F2 seems amazing and not that expensive. I have to wait some months because I have other priorities now. Until there, I'll decided between this or the 70-200.

Yo, so I am planning to buy a camera.
People recommed the Sony A6000 a lot, so I might pull the trigger on that one.
What other options do I have in this price range 500- 600 Euros?
I pretty much have no experience in photography and mainly interested in shooting landscapes.

Ok, thanks for your answers Astral/H3X & JadedWriter !

I see some good offers but I am a little hestitant to buy used.
Anything in particular to look out for?
Just ask about shutter count and give the pics a really good once over. If it's Ebay just seller feedback. A lot of what I shoot with is used, used really does a good job of bringing an unaffordable camera down to something affordable.

Speaking of XT-2 I just finished taking mine through a light snowstorm for some photos. Had the 35mm f2, so weather resistant all throughout, but damn, outside of event shooting the 23mm would've been a better get.

If the pricing on Fuji lenses scare you take a look at m43 systems as well. Olympus e-m10 ii/III or Panasonic gx85/gx9.

Not gonna say I told you so, but I've been telling you so for like a year ;-)

50mm is trash, 35mm is god

Why do you think my 35F2 has been in a box since I got the 23 1.4? 50mm is honestly a very boring focal length.
XT-3 is good, but so is the XT-2, do NOT shy away from that if you get a better deal for that.
I usually just recommend the X-T2, but the euro conversion thing gets weird with recommending stuff.
42mp camera, 35mm lens, super 35 crop mode to get 50mm equiv when needed with 24mp file.

Now...if Sony would just release a 35mm worth a damn...
A lot of what you see me post is with the Sigma Art 35 FE. It's not great for video AF, but the images speak for themselves.

I think they said 12 lenses are coming this year and we know one of them is the 135mm f/1.8, but people have been clamoring for a 35mm f/1.8 for years, so I bet it's coming soon. If it turns out to be really good and still portable, I'll probably sell my f/2.8 and f/1.4 35mm lenses and just go with it.
