This movie alienated the hardcore Star Wars fans and I it's the only Star Wars movie that I've seen twice in theaters. (2nd time was to give it another shot).
Every other Star Wars movies I've seen at least 3 to 4 times in the theaters (20th anniversary included as I wasn't born during the original trilogy).
All of my hardcore friends refused to see this movie more than once or twice.
My circle of friends "donate" hundreds on movie tickets alone for Star Wars.
I think seeing the success of Black Panther post week 1 and Jumnaji's utter annihilation of the Last Jedi after week 1 should be telling.
People just boycotted this film because of their handling of Luke and because it got destroyed by word of mouth.
This was supposed to be the Return of Luke Skywalker and it completely fell flat.
