Bernie just needs to move to Canada at this point. The stupidity of the majority of American voters is insane.

The man is practically a Canadian citizen with a lot of his ideals.

Well... Vermont is pretty much a Canadian province (ideologically), i would love to see a poll and see if Vermont see themselves more Canadian than Americans lol.

I'm still shocked people thought a country like the US would vote for someone like Sanders.

More surprising is how bad he lost on Super Tuesday.

I got hit with a hard dose of reality lol, the South worked Bernie over pretty hard. America is deeply conservative, no wonder the GOP always win

Bernie is basically the NDP tbh lol, I don't really consider him a Dem. It'd be like Jagmeet running for Liberal leadership and getting bodied in it

I wonder though, with the way the wind continues to blow across the US and quality of life deteriorates, if we will ever see Vermont, Minnesota, New York, Washington State, California, etc ever split off and join us in a like minded union.

The first question I have whenever the topic of [insert state here] joining Canada comes up is: How will they vote?

We don't need more Conservative supporters up here.

But I guess this is all moot. The last time some states tried to secede from the Union the country went to war over it, and I don't see how it wouldn't escalate to that if it were ever to come up again.

There are more people in just California than all of Canada. You add New York and the rest of those states to the mix and it's easily 2-1 ratio population wise. Republicans aren't the only ones for example that are pro 2nd Amendment. Getting permanent access to sunny California is not worth such a union (the only plus I see), because I don't see any benefits for Canada whatsoever.

Hard no to any American union, they would be huge in population and would run the country and drag us rightward, Universal Healthcare doesn't even have over 60% support in California Democrats

But it wasn't all bad news for those seeking large systemic changes, as CNN exit polling showed that a majority of Democrats in every single state that voted support making the federal government responsible for providing health care. Support ranged from 50 percent exactly (to 45 percent opposed) in Massachusetts up to 73 percent support in Sanders' home state of Vermont, with some of the largest states to vote giving it a clear majority (63 percent in Texas to just 33 percent opposed and 57 percent in California to 36 percent opposed).

They would potentially force 2A down our throats too
They're better off staying in America and keeping their nutjobs in check

That isn't even close.

Most Americans are against universal healthcare until they actually try it. They've been fed BS down there.

My wife is American and she said similar things before she moved here and saw how it is.

Same deal with pharmacare up care. NDP wants to replace all private drug plans with national pharmacare. Voters stop listening to you after the "take away my private insurance" part. Just make the damn thing optional and let people opt-in and it will sell itself to others.

If idiocy was a limbo bar, he would be comfortably subterranean by now, and about to pop up in China.

I honestly was waiting for him to make this argument that he's doing this to stop the spread of the virus (I know he doesn't care, but I was expecting him to at least lie to make it make sense). All he did was talk about illegal steel and tariffs.

My reaction as he kept speaking lol:

Pay day loan places shouldn't be allowed to operate at the interest rates that they do. They prey on people in desperation. Why is our government allowing an industry to operate in a manner designed from offset to be predatory?

I thought they locked interest rates for them.

These places are operating because banks are busy preying on a different class of people altogether.

Payday loans - Canada.ca

How payday loans work, how much they cost in fees and interest. What to ask a payday lender and payday loan laws in your province or territory.

The federal government's website warns you that this shit is predatory. I know our government does an abysmal job in protecting vulnerable people, but when they go as far as illustrate how predatory a loaning scheme is, it begs the question why they allow them to operate knowing full well the damage they cause.

Opt-in programs when it comes to healthcare only really work if tons of people opt for it, which is why a Public Option would be pretty bad (but still better than nothing) in the US, because not many will get off their work insurance to go for it. The reason that countries in Europe do have optional government healthcare programs that work is because they established them decades ago before the infrastructure was even advanced enough to cover the majority of the population, so by the current day government-provided healthcare is not only well-integrated within society but also of high enough quality to prevent the masses preferring private solutions.

Also, psychological studies on this topic show people prefer inaction over action, so if they want to make pharmacare optional, it should be opt-out if anything.

Then you'd be taking a lot of people's private insurance away, guaranteeing a lot of people won't vote for it. Same problem in the US.

Only people without insurance will vote for it.

It felt like MacKay didn't care, since he was spamming these twitter posts just a few hours ago.

There's actually more, but I've hit the media limit. All in the span of 12 hours or less.

That Island one is apparently from os x Catalina, it's one of the screensavers of Catalina Island

An example of the media environment that the NDP struggles in, the Fed government has continued to tweak and adjust their stimulus to the point where it's 100% aligning with what Jagmeet Singh initially suggested days ago. Singh's influence in raising and pushing these ideas of course not mentioned in any way in this initial article of course. I'm sure it won't be mentioned in any others either.

Liberals to roll out wage subsidies for employers, make CERB tax-free

Trudeau talking right now and yep, moving up from a meagre 10% wage subsidy up to the 75% that Singh proposed on Monday.

Not big on it, as the report pointed out, about his non-answers about the border, but it's to be expected. He always takes that route with Trump issues

Are we in the age where the government is willing to spend money again and this bullshit of "deficit reduction" is over? Because that ship has finally fucking sailed and hit an iceberg.

If this had been Scheer, i do not think we'd be seeing a 75% coverage for qualifying small/medium businesses. And if we did, we'd be seeing cuts everywhere else in order to 'pay for it'

Anyone know if there is a cap on the employee for the wage subsidy? It used to be 10% @ 1,375 per employee. @ 75% you would probably hit that cap for all employees in the first month.

How do you think we are going to pay for this?

We will pay it back a little bit each year in the future, like we do for all debt. Nations do not handle debt the same way consumers do, it is perfectly fine to take it on as long as the debt payments do not exceed certain % levels. As countries go, Canada is actually very healthy right now in terms of debt level to GDP.
