And parents of autistic kids getting screwed over

It's the same system as BC, probably worse.

You get up to $22k a year for children 5 and under and $5k for kids 6 and up.

Intense full time therapy costs like $80k/year. We are getting screwed. Friends of ours are terrified.

This province deserves everything that's coming for voting for this idiot.

This SNC stuff is crazy. If true, it confirms a number of talking points regarding Trudeau government hypocrisy. I dont see how they survive it, unless Scheer and Singh are as terrible at their jobs as they look so far.

I guarantee that they'll sleepwalk past it. If scandals bringing down governments were the norm, we would've been free of the CPC shortly after they came to power.

Ultimately, they might get a pass on this hypocrisy because Huawei never had a good reputation in the first place, and it being a foreign Chinese company.

Wilson-Raybould's silence speaks volume. She would have commented saying it was false by now if she didn't have an axe to grind. PMO is constantly giving Trudeau bad advice. SNC-Lavalin is an evil company that committed crime both locally and around the world. It was also at the center of a political corruption scandal. Buying a pipeline that we now know that the government overpaid for was also a pretty poor strategy as Alberta still hates Trudeau anyway and now other provinces are mad. Moreover if he had followed his Five Eyes allies he would have gotten rid of Huawei a long time ago and he wouldn't be stuck between a rock and a hard place with the US and China.

Jody Wilson-Raybould with the calculated answer.
It'll be interesting to see if this does go anywhere. Opponents will jump all over this of course. Independents and most supporters might ignore. So much crying wolf over the last few years has numbed and this isn't much of an pressing issue with many and doesn't have much to gain traction on when there are more immediate matters that need attention.
Kind of exciting for Canadian politics.

I mean, it's not like its a secret that with the way things are going, shit is about to hit the fan real soon if things keep on our trajectory.

Incomes are low, stagnant and ever decreasing by percentage. Everything is rising in price at a rate much higher than inflation. Housing is absolutely unaffordable for basically anybody not squarely in the mid-upper middle class. People are drowning in debt and in most cases a single paycheque away form complete and utter financial ruin. Affordable Childcare is a myth and our so called "Universal Healthcare System" drowns people in medical debt through Pharmaceuticals and Dental. And much more.

People just straight up have no money left month to month to even think about saving. And in fact, if the rumours and warnings of recession coming in the next couple years rears its ugly head, a lot of people are going to be left utterly fucked.

But the sudden sharp drop, and to such levels, is very sudden. I'm curious to see the impact and trend over the next six months.

The knifes are coming out for the PMO. Paul Wells stated in his article that whenever he writes something critical about the PMO, he never hears any pushback from other members of the Liberal party. In fact, he sometimes gets supportive messages from them.

I don't know if it's one person or more who are the problem, but I'm pretty sure there would be many Liberal MPs who would throw a party if Gerald Butts was ousted.

The LRT system is going to be a farce if it stops after phase one.
It would be a pointless rail car that just shuttles government workers from one building to the other. Mcleod would have to answer to this.

Agree with Silex'es point. He's been getting terrible advice from india to pipeline strategy. There's only so long you can ride the trudeau brand. The cabinet shuffle should have started in the PMO.

To be fair. Even if it stopped at phase one, it would still be a massive improvement for the downtown core to get all of those people in busses off the street and underground. Especially in the winter where the whole system backs up for kilometers and a simple ride home quadripples in length. Like, the transfers at Blair and Tunney's aren't that bad since they'll connect directly into the transit-way going further west and east

I know it'll improve something, but it's still half assed. I just see it as shifting the problem elsewhere, Tunney's and Blair.

No doubt about that.

Granted, if Ford pulls out of Phase 2 funding, it's not like that automatically means the whole of phase 2 has to be cancelled. Because we'll still have the 2B split between what the Federal Government and City is dedicating to the project. So what would probably happen is the plan continues along as is, but without the western extension to Moodie, and without the Trillium Line extension segment of the line.

Yeah, there has been a lot of criticism towards the PMO over the course of this mandate and no shortage of questionable decisions originating with people there.

Yep, the India debacle came to my mind as well. Incompetence. Trudeau should feel fortunate the CPC has peewee herman for a leader.

People actually like Herman though. That and nothing Scheer will ever do can match the hilarity of this:

Wow i, that floating head brought me back...

I suspect this will be the new normal the ontario government will have to get used to.

If there are any doubts this government will be a one term government...

Lol and my MPP and Lisa McLoed's neighbor had made services for the autistic a key point of his campaign. I hope they pay him a visit too.

It's as though voting for a party that doesn't have a plan is not a good idea. Who would have thunk it.

I just hope those people who were protesting didn't vote for PC. Idiots
No no no. You have to hope they did vote PC. That way them protesting right now acts as a slap in their face and a lesson as to why you don't vote PC. Because if this change only affected the Left, then the PC politicians wouldn't care and the voters would just continue on voting PC

Actually, yeah. You are right. Hopefully they are PC voters and more of them will come.

We are leaving the province. I'm going to try and transfer to our US office.

It's a joke when you have better coverage in the US.

You could see this coming during the election but people believed a liar who ran on $1 beer.

At least Harris was upfront with what he'd do.

That's why Ford didn't publicly release anything. He knew Harris would loom large over nothing but cuts, so he hid it and put on that big dumb grin face of his and laid into Wynne, somewhat deservedly, but too many people just wanted her out and wouldn't vote NDP (Horvath ran a terrible campaign too)

Because people thought he'd clean things up, lower taxes,.lower deficit and that the cuts wouldn't affect THEM. Maybe other people but not them.
Conservatives become liberal when they're personally affected by cuts from the party they worship.

Remarkable that our supposed "socialist" party is too timid even put forward these ideas which are wildly popular.

branding is everyhthing

the name "Wealth Tax" is not good branding, you have to give it a marketable name like "Fat-Cat Tax" or "Billionaire Tax"

Just call it the "Bay Street Tax". If Ford can use them, so can we. In fact, by doing so we latch directly onto the work they so graciously did to set the stage. Also, it would be fun to watch them try to backtrack from their "Fuck Bay Street!" schtick after a couple years of yelling it from the rooftops

It seems it was good enough branding to get 3 out of every 5 respondents in that poll to agree to it. And we plebs were able to come up with decent branding in under 10 minutes.

I don't think we can use that as an excuse for why this hasn't been brought forward.

OT: anyone near SE Ontario ready for snowmageddon(again!) Tuesday-Wednesday?

It's just so depressing. My snow banks are too high, icy and pyramid like to dump more snow onto it. I don't know how i'm gonna get out of this one...

Interesting that the line for 70% tax rate is $1 million vs $10 million proposed in the US. Would actually have a much larger impact.

Before last week it was more of a question of majority/minority.

Nanos publishes theirs on a weekly basis usually monday or tuesday. Might have to wait a bit more to get a larger batch.

Meanwhile winter finally hit BC's coast this weekend. It snowed a few inches last yesterday in Vancouver so the city is shut down now lol.

https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/b-c-storm-monday-morning-madness-on-snowy-roads

When you don't have the snow removal infrastructure that Toronto and Montreal has it doesn't take much to cause big problems.

The big problem is the dumb people that will try to drive around today in summer tires and get in accidents.
