I also remember my ICQ number and it's pissed me off for like a decade that I have no idea how to log into it. (as in, who knows what the password is or if an email is attached to it or if email even existed when ICQ was a thing)
It's basically just https that kills everything.
Basically all http pages will load and let you read the actual content in some form. Design will of course be horribly broken but that is technically not essential. In my experience anyway.
I remember mine as well. 772678. So happy because I got on early enough to have a sub 1million number... Then someone hacked my account. No idea when, why, or how. I created a new account to message my old one and got told to "fuck off"... who even wanted my old number that bad and why? Anyways, it was buried in an older email I had long lost access to and by then had moved on to AIM or something.

I wrote everything from scratch.
That said, you could... like... maaaaaybe use SDL1.2 to do a very simple project that would hit all those platforms. But SDL on the Dreamcast seriously blows.

OMG next year is the 20th anniversary of Dreamcast. I remember the (wishful) rumor that in 09/09/09 the Dreamcast 2 would be revealed or released. I can't believe that was freakin 9 YEARS AGO. Time flies man

The whole point now is to NOT have an http fallback because then every attacker would just use the HTTP fallback.
Same reason all the speed-up technology being added to browsers/HTML requires HTTPS. It's bundled, on purpose.

I specifically remember you mentioning using SDL on the Dreamcast in "the other forum" and I could've sworn you were speaking positively. Did I misremember, or have you soured on it now that you've delved far deeper into the depths of the Dreamcast?

I registered mIRC. I also registered WinZip and WinRAR. When you register WinRAR, they actually send you the key on a CD-ROM. The CD-ROM is a printed disc with a sticker label on the cover. Yes, from the actual rar labs, lol.
