Including Switch in MHXX total and combining Arcade Edition sales with base SFV are logic moves, especially since SFV AE does not fragment the user base, that's just a fancy new release of the same game. Some users wanted to believe the Arcade Edition sales were included from the start, that was obviously wrong. Closing 3 million units, not so awful. It's in the top 20 now.

Monster Hunter World is eventually gonna beat Street Fighter 2 as Capcom's best selling game with all versions counted. Damn.

Also love how both Monster Hunter games got the exact same increase in sales. Awesome to see Generations Ultimate doing well.

One thing they should really do is including the 3DS sales of Resident Evil Revelations in one spot. It will never reach a million it looks like but still they have to be significant.

The inevitable MHW + Iceborne disc will probably put another million or so on top of the listing.

I personally am exited to see DMC integrated into the top 3 Capcom franchises in terms of revenue and innovation.

Well it seems to me, that mh world in term of sales was not that "big" step foward in the series..

Capcom is doing great and I'm very happy with their games except SFV.

Street Fighter V lost so many fans because of insane microtransactions! The Arcade Edition didn't really helped. I guess people voted with their wallets against shady business practices. Capcom should be worried about the future of franchise.

The interesting Increase here is for Devil May Cry HD Collection , Unless Capcom forgot to add PS4/X1/PC to the platforms , Then that was a surprising bump for a game that didnt have an update for ages

Also , MVCI got an 100K increase , which is nice

Depends on how long Capcom builds on it.

Monster Hunter 4 in the OP's listings is counting both versions combined. 4 Ultimate counts for half of that 8.3 million.

When not combining updated rereleases with their original games, World's got over twice as much as Portable 3rd.

This post is giving me alternative facts vibes. It launched as barely a game and never really recovered due to poor word of mouth. Nobody gives a fuck about paying for DLC except the loud minority on this forum.

Wrong. In the past they just charged you full price for an updated version, so the DLC solution was actually cheaper.

Three versions. Though if we're counting SSFIV 3DS, what's the fifth platform.

Street Fighter IV, SSFIV, SSFIV:AE, USFIV, SSFIV 3DS
But you might be right with the three versions as I'm not really sure anymore which one was a separate new release and which one was just an upgrade (like SFV:AE).

Platforms are PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, PC and 3DS

That's nuts, but I have no idea how to actually parse that. There's a hell of a lot more people actively playing games now than there were in the heyday of SF2. There are also a lot more fighting game franchises now as well, and really only one Monster Hunter. The MH "likes" don't really come close in quality.

Jesus, that huge gap between SF4 and SFV.
SF4 had five different versions on five platforms while SFV has only one version on two platforms (SFV:AE is still the same player base).
Yep, this means players like me are counted several times repeated in SFIV while only once or twice in SFV.

In my personal case I'm counted 7 times in SFIV (I bought SFIV,SSFIV,SFIVAE,USFIV in PS3 plus USFIV on PS4 and PC ports and the 3DS version) while in SFV I'm only counted only twice (I have PS4 version to play and PC for datamining).

In addition to this, next week SFV will be 3 years old. SFIV first version (arcade) was released on July 2008 and the most recent release (USFIV PS4) was released on May 2015, like 7 years later and after that different SFIV versions were included on Gold, PS Plus or SF30th anniversary collection, etc. SFV still has a long road to make.

Only free name change update SFIV had was SFIV:AE to SFIV:AE 2012.

It's incredible that MHW will beat SF4 combined. It's hard to describe how big an achievement this is.

RE7 legs are also good.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate sold as much as MHW from Q2-Q3, and that's a title Capcom originally didn't even want to localize for the west.

Hopefully this will change their minds about Nintendo Switch and its audience.

Its amazing to see how succesfull the Monster Hunter franchise really is, by a wide margin no less. Its the only franchise that has more millions sold than SKUs released. 1.23 million per SKU on average; the only one that comes remotely close is Resident Evil with 0.69 million. Quite amazing IMO.

Thanks for making the thread Cyberpunk , I always look forward for the update every quarter. Wish more publishers actually did this :(

SFV is just not that great of a fighting game.

Its hard to compare SFV to SF4. SFV also has much more agressive DLC model with characters, costumes etc which provides a ton more additional revenue. I know SF4 had costumes but not to this amount.
Edit: Also, as others have mentioned if you played SF4 from launch you probably purchased the game multiple times adding to the total count whereas most SFV players only purchased one copy.
