So Atlus did a press release which had a bunch of new screens for Catherine.



On Rin

Appearing before Vincent is the third "Catherine": Rin. Due to losing her memory, she has a mysterious aura of otherworldliness and innocence. With Vincent's suffering between his lover Katherine and his adulterous partner Catherine, she will be a healing presence for him.

It's mentioned she has a secret and it's up to the players to decide to accept it or not.

She'll also have moments where she appears in the nightmares and you have to escort her.

She apparently has a mysterious power.


If you get the first print of the game you can get the Nero Glasses which lets you see all the characters in there underwear during gameplay and cutscenes.

There a cutscene viewer in which you can toggle to watch it either normally or "Nero Mode."

The press release includes new artwork of all three Catherine's in their underwear.

They go into detail about the online multiplayer.

Babel

A mode that extends the action puzzles. You compete for how far you can climb the stage, where blocks fall in random patterns. There are 4 sages in all.

Colosseum

A competitive multiplayer mode on puzzle stages. The player who reaches the goal first, or who survives is the winner. In this game, multiple new stages have been added.

Online Arena

In "Online Arena," online players can compete for Babel and Colosseum rankings. You can play "Rank Match" where you can enjoy matches against others of your level, or "Casual Match" where opponents are chosen randomly. You can also choose to play against others or cooperate with each other.

First Print copies of the game also let you play as Joker from Persona 5 in the extra modes.

This changes the music to tracks from P5 and you can unlock bonus scenes featuring the Phantom Thieve as you clear stages.

The whole thing about all three Catherines having the lingerie pictures makes me wonder if they understand the point of the original, particularly the sex appeal of the two Catherines. That definitely existed in the original, particularly Catherine, and they did send you pictures, especially of Catherine, and I won't talk about Katherine's because that's spoiler territory. However it was used from more of a horror aspect tempting Vincent, who was spineless in the first place. This whole thing with the DLC glasses and seeing everyone in their underwear, I'm seriously doubting that has a point in the story and is just a "for funzies" thing, and kind of dilutes the point of the story.

On it's own, I wouldn't mind the whole thing of the Catherines being in their skimpier lingerie, but I feel like it kind of dilutes the point as it's there purely for the sex appeal rather than to actually add to the atmosphere of the story. If anything, it potentially takes away from it. I could be wrong, but we will see.

Whether she is actually trans or not, they're playing it up that way almost certainly toward a fake out. They're focusing an awful lot on her crotch. There's that scene where she's naked and Vincent is staring right at her crotch with a shocked expression on her face. We're not told what he sees. There's the scene where Vincent walks around the corner of a building, they bump into each other and she falls, sitting right on his face. The camera moves overhead and see the wings on the back of her dress. Atlus has been even more obvious that she's an angel. They also keep waffling on this, but they're sort of saying she isn't really a relationship, but unlocks more with the other two girls. Other than the scene with her naked and Vincent staring at her crotch, there's very few "sexy" scenes involving her that we've seen so far.

You should check out SMT: Synchronicity Prologue though, that game is excellent.

No PC was expected but I still don't understand why it will be PS4 only on the West. How expensive could be a Vita version?, they are already paying for the PS4 localization. Also, a Switch release would have been nice.

Anyway, looking forward to the release date on the West.
