You’re asking me to explain something that I never defended or argued in favor of. My original post to you had one line highlighted of yours, yet you keep dragging me to this part of your rant for some reason.

For what’s it worth, I think influential black folks need to remember that the right will jump at the chance to take their words out of context and use them to their advantage. We saw it with killer mike, we saw it with Kanye (not out of context) and Chance. That said, I’ve got no issue with chance. I think he made a mistake and he’s copped up to it.
I havent seen you condemn the action of saying Chance is in the sunken place. I dont see you taking issue with someone of another race calling him an Uncle Tom. You have no issue with Chance but you wont even blink at someone accusing him of being an Uncle Tom.

Chicago
Am I wrong to believe that the most efficient way of progressing care about minorities is not by going third party but by pulling the left further left?

If democrats have not been adequately representing Chicago's community, why not take ownership of the chigago democrats and also get the support of people that while not being minorities are not going to go libertarian or republican?

Parties are what you make of them.

One thing is to not care for a segment of the population. Another thing is to actively work towards destroying them.
Chicago and Illinois are corrupt all the way through. Its an ugly mess and can only be fixed by reseting everyone, which will never happen.

Chicago has dark sites they keep criminals illegally, cops lie about shootings and frame imaginary people, Rahm pretends to care about education and then closes a bunch of schools because he and the governor are selfish morons.

Its fucked

Apology accepted.

Too many of us have made the mistake of using sarcasm to reference a narrow issue while in the middle of discussion of a much larger problem.

How would I know the race of other posters?

This convo is going down too wacky a road for my taste.

Please just stop.

It is not the equivalent in any sphere of logic. In the civil war the union was actively fighting to stop the other side from owning slaves.

In this sphere, democratics treat us as prop they use us then immediately abandon blacks. The most recent example is Doug Jones.

When black votes were being suppressed they made no comment until Clinton lost then they began blaming blacks. Look at Chicago control by Dems and blacks are still treated like shit.

The Dems are like the friend that let's the bully beat up and while they stand aside and try and talk the bully down. That shit doesn't work. That's why Dems easily move to the right because the one who suffers the most are... Blacks.
Wait, what? Dems didn't make any noise about voter suppression/voting rights BEFORE Clinton lost, let alone after? That's bullshit and you probably know it. Dems blaming black people is bullshit too, unless your evidence that you live by is cherry-picked twitter/forum posts, which is of course inconsequential. In reality, it's the exact opposite of what's happened.

It's white voters and Hillary herself catching the brunt (like 99%) of the blame for Trump. And rightfully so.

I don't know how Doug Jones has abandoned any one group of people but I'd like to hear it.

Didnt the Clintons refer to blacks as Super Predators?

Unless you want the Republicans to keep winning elections, the Democratic Party is our only option for some semblance of progressive policies. Everyone is free to align themselves with whichever party or ideology they wish, but don't be surprised when the country continues to be worse off because of toxic Republican policies.

In a sick way, Trump being president doesn't hurt me as much ( Obama being president didn't stop casual racist from being racist). It sucks but I see it as a good for all these dumb progressives who take us for granted and think they can have their cake and eat it.

You don't decide to not vote because you hate the outcome of a primary. That's some white nonsense.

Of course they complain about voter suppression afterwards at that point they could no longer ignore the issue.

My evidence of blaming blacks is in the dogwhistle such as democratic ignore white working class. And my other opinion pieces such as these that exist for a reason

As for Doug Jones well he supported this https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/14/senate-passes-bill-scaling-back-dodd-frank-463825

Who do you think usually gets burned by things like these?

I think chance is being sincere. His tweet didn't have a ton of context but he also let it so open ended for anyone to condemn. At the end of the day, with more context to what he's saying, I understand and the apology is accepted on my behalf. I just dislike how he jumped in for Kanye.... because that's what we been doing for Kanye and what does he do, turn on us. Never have blind loyalty for certain people....

So, you posting opinion pieces? These are the receipts? Man..... By and large, black people aren't catching the blame for this shit. Like, it's not even close.

Do a search for the opposite of what you're clearly looking for, see what you find....

Voter suppression/voting rights been talked about for a long ass time now. It's never stopped. Hell, Hillary talked about that shit back in 2015. She talked about a lot of things.

The vague, non sequiter nature of the tweet paired with the context of him clearly defending that clown is issue here. It's baffling. The right-wing sure appreciated it though.

He needs to be smarter about this shit if he doesn't want his name dragged through the mud, in a variety of ways.

Heh, for all their talk of "free thinking" the right is really mad that Chance isn't actually siding with them. They're all calling him a slave on the dem plantation and seem to think they can dismiss how incredibly racist that is.

What is an apology worth?

When a famous person has fucked up, usually the outrage goes ballistic if that person "doesn't even apologize", and yet when a person does apology it's all this "too little, too late" shit. Granted, you never have to accept someones apology. It's your right to tell people to go fuck themselves. Talk is easy, saying your sorry is the easiest thing in the world, but it does seem to me that if you're a public figure and you've fucked up, there ain't a whole lot to gain, and two, you might even look worse.
Chance ain't different from most famous people in that he chances his opinion when people turn on him, because it hurts his popularity, favorability and his bottom line. There is nothing in saying you're sorry that suggests that he is remorseful, but is only changing his outward public opinion to save his career. So not only is he spineless, but his morals are also weak enough to that he'll do a 180. Make no mistake- Chance likes and supports Kanye. A sociopath who has been toxic for as long as he has been famous.

I'm not saying that people should hate Chance. I like him. I don't believe that peoples defining characteristics are necessarily decided by the value by their bad aspects. Chance has done a lot of good things for a lot people, and I don't think that him being wrong on a particular aspect is worthy of a "fuck him". But I don't see how his public apology / statements mean anything. It's PR game of kissing babies with no sincerity. And it yields little actual productivity as far as anyone actually doing shit. It's a lot of famous people talking about they really feel, how they really meant. So what? How does that help anyone? Talk is cheap, and that's most of what all these famous people are doing. Fucking talking. Waste of goddamn time and energy.

She did and that was very fucked up but that was 1996 and NOBODY has tried to lay blame on black voters for 2016 afaik. Black voters went overwhelmingly to Hillary. You can argue that she wasn't going to be a good candidate for the black populace for the super predator thing and other Bill Clinton era legislation but I don't think you can say in any way that black voters were blamed for her loss.

Seeing some do a complete 180 on Chance despite him acknowledging his wording and context in a later tweet feels weird. Dude has been a vocal activist for quite a while, and one mistimed and misdirected tweet is supposed to somehow remove all that? Half this thread feels like randoms wanting to drop their uninteresting "lolfuckthisguy" shitposts without any knowledge of the good he has done in general.

Not to talk about that one guy calling him an uncle tom, come the fuck on.

Opinion pieces exist for a reason. And just because they are opinion pieces doesn't invalidate my point. That's not how argument work, invalid my argument or back off. Disprove my article or you can just scream fallacy.

I out.

Yah. I’m disappointed by Chance’s shortsightedness, but I still deeply appreciate the guy. He’s done so much good, I’m not throwing him out. I do think the damage he did needs to go beyond simply apologizing, but that’s for him to settle.

As a white guy, I’m not touching an “Uncle Tom” accusation with a 10 foot pole. I have no desire to bring that up and feel absolutely unqualified to even enter it, that’s why I (and I’m guessing many others) aren’t engaging it.

Chance better drop another mix tape in the next week to make up for this, or he's forever shit listed. Balls in your court, CHANCE.
