No. Common misconception, probably just because of their surnames sounding somewhat similar (Pulsian naming conventions).

Ultimately, as a result, they skirt around the issue just enough, so it's always with some level of doubt. Frustrating. Plus, it gives people excuse "They never said, so are they REALLY gay and you're just not putting your views into it?", and it's just... Ugh. I've dealt with that on several occasions, too.

Oh this is definitely a thing yeah. I remember people insisting that Ellie from the Last of Us is NOT gay even after the DLC (and resorting to mental gymnastics to explain this) while also refusing to acknowledge the homophobic aspect of it. Others acted surprised that they " turned " her gay when the trailer for the second game came out, as if it was a retcon or something, ugh.
Even more frustrating that her sexuality was explored and not even being hinted at like in other games.
