The Sanders and Warren stuff probably made some higher ups ask him to retire so that they don't have to fire him.
He didn’t even come back.
Times have changed, he was a dinosaur with an old style that just didn’t fit with modern times. He became too confrontational against anyone he perceived as “liberal”.
He probably saw John Oliver’s video on him last night and decided he was done.

Came back from commercial with Kornacki being dumbfounded and saying "we obviously need to fill the rest of this hour. A short break, first."
Almost like they didn't know, but they had to have known. Maybe only he and the producers knew.

he was fun to watch on tv. Sorry, I can watch people I don’t agree with 100 percent of the time.
I saw an article the other say that said he was " the enbattled MSNBC host", and that made me laugh, because it's a bed of his own making.

That seems unlikely. He decided to quit/retire. Maybe they were going to give him a suspension or they had other plans but the way he just up and quit doesn't seem like they were expecting him to go. Why would they let him on TV if they planned on firing him.
