Christoph Waltz loving doing press junket interviews

Edit: so initially the interviewer only posted the clip of the first question which did seem weird. But the rest of the interview has Waltz being pretty generous and now it’s the interviewer who seems like a bit of a dick for framing this as a car crash interview.

I'd be miserable too if I had to talk about Alita Battle Angel all day. Anyway, he doesn't owe them shit.

Didn't think he came off all that bad. Think the interviewer is being a bit of a whiner.

Wait, how was that a car crash interview? After that first question it seemed absolutely fine.

Stefan Page sounds like a punk who can't handle anyone who criticizes his shitty job. These press junkets are just regurgitated fast food and add zero value to anything.

Yeah, I don't know if Christoph had a bad day, but in both these interviews he comes across as an absolute bell end.

Yeah, actually. After the first question, Waltz seems completely fine and pretty giving.

I initially only saw the first question as posted by the interviewer.

I remember being really exited to watch his episode on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and then while watching the whole time thinking yeah, he didn’t want to be there lol

From that clip it sounds Waltz threw him a curveball and instead of adapting to it and changing his interview style he just whines about it. These people get asked the same questions constantly so I’m not surprised if he comes off as kind of a dick.

Ya Stefan, imagine your job not being served every regurgitated answer on a platter every single time.

I think the interviewer took it a little too personal. Waltz was kind of posing the idea that he doesn't want the viewer to go into the movie with a general summary of who his character is. He wasn't so much calling out the interviewer as he was saying that he wants people to go into the movie with an open mind and decide for themselves what they think of his character.

He seems thoughful and introspective?

I'm sorry, my standard for a bad interview now involves prowling dimly lit streets seaching for black people to murder.

Press junkets must be the most inane, boring part of an actors "job".
Unless your being interviewed by crazy Alison for This Morning.

The best ones were the Life junkets where Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal went completely off the rails and just goofed around instead of answering questions about the movie

What an absolute prick.

He said "moronic gadget" gesturing a video game controller, the condescending bastard.

If you're gonna make everybody uncomfortable with your asshole antics, why agree to do these interviews?

Don’t you know, actors never do anything wrong it’s the fault of having to do these boring press junkets that you’re paid to do

The answers Waltz is giving are actually interesting. So often the press junket is just about how everything is awesome which must be tiring for the journalists and actors.

Fuck it if I was an actor and had to do these like on the regular with possibly 3 of those interviews a day I would try to fuck with the interviewer in a non threatening way

The dude asked "What's it like seeing yourself on screen" to Academy Award winning actor whose been in the industry for decades. Stupid question, stupid answer.

He was quite the gem here as well:

I can't really say I feel overly sorry for the interviewer, though.
Haha this is rich, he calls video games moronic gadgets, yet he appears on the Game Awards Live.

He plays in an over the top anime adaptation and yet he shits on comic book super hero movies.

Dude needs to stop elevating this garbage as high art and accept the fact that maybe he's past his prime.

Must be hard to make millions of dollars for acting and have to do these interviews.

Authors note: I'm being sarcastic

Waltz has always been a bit up his own ass, but I can also understand his responses to the interviewers. It's the same old regurgitated questions they ask every actor in every movie, they just change names or genres around.

Seriously. These people make millions and millions of dollars and you want me to feel bad for them that they have to endure the pain of a press junket? It’s repetitive? Booo hooo

Interviewing someone on a PR plan is exhausting, just send a press release. I'll take any other answer, even this!

Because they have to. Remember the legendary interview of Tom Cruise when he went totally crazy, while marketing Worlds at War ? Spielberg said "I'll never work with this dude ever again" because of that interview.
You have to do those boring interviews, it's, unfortunately, part of the job.
