The "former 00 agent who felt betrayed by M and went rogue" backstory would've been a good angle for reinventing Blofeld and drawing a personal tie to Bond if they hadn't already done that for Silva.

This is easily what ruined Spectre for me. Having Blofeld be Bond's "brother" really pissed me off. Specially the way they made him the the puppetmaster being everything that had happened since Casino Royale(my favorite Bond movie).

It didnt just ruin Spectre, it ruined every Daniel Craig Bond film having every villain and plot orchestrated by him.

Absolute stupidity. I dont know how that got past the writers table.

I enjoyed Spectre because I love all Bond films but there's no denying that there were problems with Spectre, including the poor writing for Blofeld/Waltz. I have faith in Fukunaga though, just hope the writing is up to snuff.

This was already the case between Casino Royale and Quantum, they just took it a step further adding Silva into that too.

Seems like they are trying to end Craig's run with a nostalgia fest. Bringing back Felix and Blofeld again. Just need a fight scene on a train and we'll have Bond BINGO.

I just hope this Bond is about Bond taking a mission. The last 3 Bond films was about him going rogue and doing his own thing.

I hope he's just in a flashback sequence of some sort. Shoehorning him in as the main villain again would be idiotic.

Good God, it's been 13 years? I still think of Craig as "that new Bond".

Not in a world where Quantum of Solace exists.

Quantum is much better than Spectre, it's a punchy coda to Casino Royale and it doesn't try to be anything more (mainly due to the writers strike). Spectre is a totally mediocre movie where the director is literally just ticking things off a Best Of Bond checklist. Sam Mendes didn't give a shit and it shows.

Anyway, I imagine Blofeld will have a small role either being killed off (along with Madeleine) during the title sequence or used as a source of information in a brief prison cameo.

Can't say I'm too surprised. The original draft the current writers are building the final script on was by the veteran screenwriters (Purvis/Wade); who penned (sometimes with other people) not only Spectre but nearly every Bond movie released since Tomorrow Never Dies. A change in director and writers (even very talented ones) can only do so much if the veterans are still responsible for the skeleton of the plot.

That said. Putting aside the hamfisted plot twist they gave to the character in Spectre, I found Waltz's performance as Blofeld as actually one of the better things from the movie. If the new writers can bring the character back and completely ignore the nonsense set up from the last movie (if not just rewrite canon to trash it outright) and let Waltz turn in a better performance, we could actually have something that's good here. Which shouldn't be impossible to do, given Purvis/Wade aren't responsible for the shooting script this time.

The silly fun house Blofeld built for Bond at the end of Spectre was one of the stupidest thing I had seen. Please I hope they don't do something like that again.

Christoph Waltz is one of my favorite actors.

Spectre was an awful movie and the only Bond film I literally fall asleep watching every single time I try.

Quantum only sucked because it followed Royale. On its own, it is nowhere near the worst. Plus, I liked the closure of his grieving arc. And leaving someone in a desert with a can of motor oil is hard as fuck.
I agree. Quantum seemed like a pretty average bond flick to me, which made it look bad because it was the follow up to one of the best ones. Spectre on the other hand was atrocious lol.

I quite like Quantum when viewed as the second half of the story which began in Casino. It's not a great Bond film by any means but like you say, it's wrapping up his grief arc concerning Vesper, after which he forms his cold exterior which is basically his persona from then on. But I think it only really works as a direct continuation. It's not so hot as a standalone Bond film like most of the others can be.

I have no idea why every writer and executive on Specter thought Blofeld being Bond's brother was a good idea. Even if you wanna link all the previous films to this main villain, how does him being Bond's step brother CHANGE ANYTHING AT ALL? It's just weird for the sake of being weird, and that shit denoument in London at the end was so fucking dumb with all the photos and grafitti.

Literally, you just have to make him an evil criminal mastermind and have MI6 go to take him out after realizing the extent of his network and machinations, and he's just an asshole who's great at psychological warfare and forcing Bond to make the hard choices.

I hope the reveal in this film is that Remi Malek is the real Blofeld, and that he hired/brainwashed Bond's degenerate brother to be his front just as a smoke screen to allow his plans to come to fruition while everyone thinks they've captured Blofeld.

Even though Spectre was the worst Craig Bond film by far, and the writing for Blofeld was one factor among it being trash, I'm alright with this news. Just hope he's not a major part of it but the performance was fine

Exactly

This is basically trying to show why he uses women the way he does.

Craig's Bond feels like he has a short career when you realize QOS is CR part 2, and then he's too old for this shit in Skyfall, and then Spectre is like bwaha, the past two stories were all cause of me!

I so hope Bond 25 can somehow retcon all this into being good

Ugh. Any trace of Spectre should be scrubbed from that franchise. What a bad fucking movie.

I liked Spectre well enough until the twist that Blofeld was Bond's brother and was behind everything. After that the movie just sort of runs out of steam and eventually I was just waiting for it to be over.

This run of Bond movies Casino Royale and the first half of QoS aside are absolutely abysmal.

Waltz was such a let down as Blofeld. How did they waste such a fantastic actor?
