I'm genuinely shocked this worked because it seems most law enforcement don't give a shit about your rights.
If I had to guess, it was the lawyer on the phone saying he would be right there that scared them off.
It's so depressing how they kept pressuring him even though he clearly knew the law. I try to be responsible and know my rights but this is the dude's profession basically. I feel like myself and most people would just get owned by ICE here and that makes me sad.

It is a warrant, but it is an ICE warrant, not a court-issued warrant. The video notes that an ICE warrant allows officers to arrest an undocumented immigrant, but they can't demand access to private property to do so (in this case, the guy's personal vehicle).

If that lawyer wasn't on his way I have no doubt they would have found a way to justify whooping his ass for making a fool of them. Fuck ICE.

The National emergency should be used on gun control, eliminating ICE can be done without a National Emergency

Happy he was able to outwit these fucks. Sadly the average person wouldn’t have the wherewithal this guy did. Most of us would probably be screwed in this situation not knowing what to do.

The driver mostly got away with this because he's white passing. A POC would likely have been forced out of the car, or worse.

Hopefully the DOJ accredited immigration representative program he mentioned gets more visibility. It's shit that people can go through immigration proceedings and no lawyer is provided.
Even if they drastically cut its funding and membership it'll be a good thing.

This is part of a new practice that ICE is using to round up people coming out of a court house. He identified himself as an advocate and had a lawyer on speaker. ICE was just being salty. I don't think it would have played out differently if the guy was darker skinned.
I applaud this guy, too bad most people won't have this information available or would give in to the intimidation tactics.
Anyone who works for ICE deserves cancer or any other horrible disease/life outcome. It's like people who worked for the Gestapo, they'll want to claim they weren't in charge and just following orders.
