Please tell me I just didn’t spoil a big plot point by watching the first minute of that video....

someone in the video says kratos killed his wife and daughter

If so, wtf
What do you mean? This is common knowledge from the first trilogy. This isn’t something in the plot of the new one at all.

it's almost like getting mad over shit like this backfires. you don't want to be stereotyped as "nerds" but ironically throwing your arms up over shit like this further cements you as such

Not even sure what the avatar quote is supposed to represent of me. It's an avatar of Kimishima defiantly glaring back at the knives of the industry.

Well I feel like Kimishima BUT I'm probably in the wrong here

It's just that shit like this gets grating and exhausting
You just ensure folks will never look at the games industry seriously and then see the internal problems
Because ya know, silly Nintendo kiddie games.

God of War is one of my favorite games this year.

Still roasts are fine. If you don't like it just close the YouTube window and move on with your day.
I am surprised nobody made the obvious joke of the L3 + R3 button prompts appearing in front of me while I watched this

You try to make a comparison on making fun of God of War to making fun of Christianity and Black Panther. Good god man.

And these folks are not the target market. For every old man who thinks games are a waste there are dozens of kids playing Fortnite or <insert any games here>

Not to mention the industry has grown up considerably in the past couple of years that someone managed to make a God of War with a meaningful story after the testosterone filled boner of the previous 4 games.

These have been getting worse ever since he's brought in celebrity guests. Still good but overall the quality had gone down. His Tomb Raider/GTA ones are hilarious

Hilarious as usual, but damn, "contains spoilers" is an understatement. I'm surprised they showed off the
Blades of Chaos
so casually.

The bold and underlined was a shameful moment I will admit, that said Christianity should be an ok target if Norse religion is (both are still practiced mind you)
The industry may have indeed grown up but no one but us seems to notice or care and because of that they won't take the genuine problems seriously

The best ones were The Witcher and Tomb Raider ones. The guest of the week ones are kinda shitty

Now the only thing left is for Kratos himself to show up to me and say, "Boy! Shut up!"

Then again, Mr. Barlog is a much more mature and tough person than I am
He isn't really allowed to respond in any other way. Hahah yeah, silly games.

This post has done more to perpetuate the meme as gamers as lonely nerds than Conan O’Brien has in his entire lifetime.
God forbid people dislike certain jokes or comedians. Suddenly, we're the fun police

the one with Elijah Wood (FFXV ?) was hilarious. I thought this one was funny too. In the end it's more a matter of taking time commenting on the game (and making fun of it) instead of letting the celebrities do their own thing.
I actually feel like there may be a mandate where they are not allowed to be truly amazed or wowed
Obviously not true but like, "Should I be ashamed if I enjoy this?"

Demeaning to the medium, its fans, and the artists who bring it to life.

As always.

Perpetuation of the meme of gamers as lonely nerds is harmful to the industry, as are these videos. One man's opinion.

Please tell me how someone saying they care about an art form makes them a lonely nerd. Cuz liking videogames=nerd right?

Or is this one of those double standard things where it's socially acceptable to like Marvel movies and go see Infinity War but being passionate about videogames makes you a dork?

People are allowed to be passionate and take movies, music, and various other art forms seriously, but suddenly when it comes to videogames, "they are just toys". Pretentious double standards.

And this coming from posters on a videogame forum no less. And I don't mean that to try and point out some kind of irony like some of you have already tried to do, I just mean I find it sad to see callous posts shitting on people who care about the medium on a place where people are supposed to be passionate about videogames.
Like, what the fuck?

And again, this is coming from someone who finds these skits funny.

Honestly, I don't care about what Conan actually thinks of these games or not, but these videos were actually pretty entertaining back then. It just got lame.

oh no, but gaming is true art and conan has besmirched our reputation as an art form because of this... uh, multi-million dollar corporate product??

A constant competition between the two for the funniest joke wasn’t very funny and degraded the game too much. I prefer Conan and Aaron alone.

It is mean spirited though, if I was a dev who worked on the game and lost sleep over it only to see them making it all seem like such a big joke. I would be a bit hurt. Maybe I'm just thin skinned

this is if you ignore the huge strides video games have made in the general public. We have gone from arcade games to Gone Home, Last of Us. Video game journalism has grown up with plenty of thoughtful writeups about the subject and of course, how it has penetrated pop culture.

Video games is, and will be much more taken seriously in the future. Just take this roast as seriously as when parents once told their children that rock music is the devil's music, or that cinema will die with the invention of the television.

An apology for what exactly?
For murdering humor. Seriously, even die hard non-gamer CONAN fans are calling this weak

I agree with you. And yes, it is good to see such positive changes.
I suppose after Rock and Roll has become equivalent to classical music and suddenly everyone is the biggest comic book fan ever thanks to the MCU, video games will get their day in the sun eventually.

My main issue is that the non-gaming media is hell bent on portraying games as either violent mind melters or inane/stupid time wasters.
It's like they are terrified of of people thinking for even one second that there may be some merit to these kiddie games. Conan and Hader non-stop laughing every damn second of the game proves this.

You'll never see them go, "You know games are pretty stupid, but this opening part to Last of Us, man I had no idea. This is better than Walking Dead. How do they do this? I should play more games man."
Because admitting that would mean they have to negate their negative bias/.

I like how the guy points out that he's not controlling any of the dope shit that's happening on the screen, even people that don't play video games are making fun of that.

The video wasn't all that funny outside of that.

I just watched the video and I don't even know what could have been spoilery.

The dude's head being revived? I don't know who that is or why I should care.

Yawn.

I don't particularly care about Conan making fun of games or gamers (we're not an endangered species) but I'm always fascinate by how gamers are eager to jump on other gamers whenever they display some sort of affection to their medium.

One super egregious example is a thread in the old forum (I think it was the Gears of War 4 episode?) where a guy spent 3 pages jumping on people who complained about Conan's dismissive attitude towards the genre, then the moment someone said "And then you have all the people who think videogames are toys because of Nintendo" the same guy started fighting everybody because that totally wasn't true and Nintendo was doing art.

It's an incredibly fractured community that constantly cannibalizes itself. It's fascinating.

Nah. Their game earned incredible accolades and a monster Metacritic score, it's the best selling PS4 exclusive and it's praised on every form of media that is actually dedicated to videogames. It's still trending on Twitch, and it's a singleplayer game.

I don't think a comedy skit called "Clueless Gamer" is something you can legitimately expect to "honour" your hard work. We can make fun of things.

Crying about a comedian making fun of a video game is not a display of affection, it’s a display of embarassing immaturity. Grown adults see poking fun for what it is, not a grievous personal attack.

Yeah but it still makes me roll my eyes and go, "Ugh"
I'm not crying my eyes out over this or anything.

Clueless Gamer is equally as immature as us getting overtly upset over this.

Things are funny until what you care about is being made fun of.
It would be better if they showed actual enjoyment rather than mocking hatred, like it's an insult having to do this
Like if they played the Stranger fight and went, "THIS IS NUTS! CONNOR MCGREGOR IS AFTER US! HOLLYWOOD, TAKE NOTES!"

Or a comment like, "Did you notice the dialogue? Who wrote this? This is so good! How?"
Or, "I can't show my wife this, Atreus is so cute. She'll want a kid after watching him. "

Conan hates this. The guests clearly hate this. Why keep doing it?
Why doesn't he just say no? Who's forcing him?

Ok as I said I love Clueless Gamer videos but I understand why some found this episode unfunny, because it was really irritating and unfunny and I think that because of the guest he just kept being annoying the whole time.

... I usually like these, but this one was lame as hell. The tomb raider and mk episodes were the best, this was the worst one he’s ever done.

Yall care way too much about what other people think about your favorite hobby/industry.

Games already make hella money and they don't need to prove shit.

I think the Elijah Wood Final Fantasy 15 episode is the only guest episode I've enjoyed.

EDIT: Actually the Kumail Nanjiani Shadow of War was pretty good.

I love the Clueless gamer segment but i'm staying away from this one if it contains spoilers. Haven't made my mind up if i'm buying GoW yet but if i do i don't want to be spoiled.
