Kirby's justification of this is ridiculous. It should've been called off or they should've called timeout. There's no time in that situation when that call makes any sense at all.
I didn't watch last night, but that sounds just like last year's game. Came out strong, but a combination of conservative playcalling and not adjusting to Alabama's adjustments means the offense stalls. This makes the defense wear down faster, letting Bama tie/ take the lead just in time.

He said it was supposed to be a quick snap so Bama would be confused and leave the receiver wide open, but they took too long to snap it. Again, why not take a timeout then? And why even risk it when Bama is playing punt safe?

I'd actually love for Georgia to get in just for the chaos, but it's not going to be a surprise. My only question is who between Notre Dame and Oklahoma will be 3 and 4.

College championships aren't tiebreaks, even though they said they weigh heavily. Win-loss doesn't matter, even though they said it weighs heavily. They're just making it up on the fly. Basically, just win all of your games* and if you don't, you're at the mercy of whatever convenient argument they come up with.

Thinking on it more, the fake call was good. The coaches not calling timeout or Fields not audibling out of it was the mistake.
And taking their foot off the gas before the half was a huge mistake.
