Collider's Kristian Harloff reaches peak entitlement over Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Definitely for me as well. I ditched quite a handful of video review channels around the time Black Panther dropped. Holy shit, some folks just can't help themselves when it comes to Diversity in film and movies not centered around a white male protagonist; dropped Collider ages ago though, I tried to give me a fair shake but eh, their content is just "meh" and conversations/discussion are so run of the mill -- same shit I'd read in a reddit thread.
It's been meh for a few years now, I only tuned in before for Schnepp and after his passing, Perri and Dennis just weren't on often enough for me to watch it. I disagree with Campea on a lot of things, but he did bring a presence to the show. Now it just seems like a bunch of frat guys talking movies.

For sure, I was a fan of Schnepp and I liked Perri for the most part. When it comes to Campea, it's complicated but I agree, him and the aforementioned were my favorites 'parts' of Collider when I kept up with their content.

The woes of being a fan.
For five years, no less.
Well, at least Galaxy's Edge will always remind him of this pathetic bullshit forever, and he will never be able to fully enjoy it without associating it with one of the most embarrassing events of his life.
Nah. This guy doesn't seem to have any self-awareness.
They named a planet after Harloff in Star Wars. They should mention how it self destructed now.

It made perfect sense. They sent reporters who write articles for the site. Harloff doesn't do that. And Napzok doesn't either.

Not to mention for Harloff, why would he think they would send the guy who has spent the last two years throwing a temper tantrum demanding Disney fire Kathleen Kennedy and replace her with someone with no film producing experience? Disney likely does not want Harloff anywhere near their PR events after his behavior the last few years.
In the 5 years he has been a fan she made all the Star Wars.

If I was Disney, I'd tell Jedi Council to replace him or be shut out. Like, play his petty game haha.

Saying he 'Bust his ass being a fan' is his way of admitting that he's been pretending to like this shit for money and he feels hey owe him. He should have no credibility with folks with whom he once had credibility.

So, are these one of the main inspiration for the Nerd Crew podcast bit from a little while back? Fake nerd shills?

That't what really gets me. Lucasflim named a freakin' planet after the guy. And they gave two passes to the company he works for. and he is still upset that didn't give one to him PERSONALLY?

Like, what does he think Disney/Lucasflm owes him? Can any other Star War's fan/podcaster say they got a planet named after them?

I used to love Jedi Council, and had little problem with Harlof, but post-TLJ Harlof has been insufferable.

The only thing from Collider I watched was Movie Talk, but they started having on these rambling guests who sound like they're on coke binges.

Yeah, and then basically says he won't let the two women from Collider who did get to attend come and talk about it on his podcast.

If it's something he said, I think there needs to be more receipts.
Pretty much.

You keep repeating this but I have yet to see this. Do you have a youtube link? When I searched I only found the one about him keeping her on because she's a good producer but bring in someone else for the story group/creative control.

Some C-tier "influencer" is upset...

Online outlets and bloggers have a very, very high opinion of themselves when it comes to this type of stuff.

I just watched the video and here are my thoughts:
  • It was childish on the part of Kristian Harloff and the producer to squabble on stream. It's completely unprofessional and quite frankly a bad look from both a personal level (Harloff) and a company level (producer/Collider).
  • I agree with Harloff that 'Jedi Council' should not promote a theme park they have not visited themselves. Their impressions of the park should be their own and not some second hand opinion.
  • While some at Collider were invited, it is my opinion that some of these people should have been those who are actively participating on 'Jedi Council'. As a Star Wars fan myself, I would want an impression of the park to come from a Star Wars fan.

They shouldn't be promoting anything.

He seems fun at parties.

Entitled is definitely an apt description of this dude. Get over yourself. Being a fan of something doesn't earn you a cookie. And you probably didn't get an invite because you're insufferable to be around. I'm assuming Collider did get an invite and press badges. Just not you. Can't imagine why...

I didn't watch the video in the OP, because it's too early in my work day for a cringe dosage, but I'll watch it later.

It's clear he felt entitled.
I mean he kinda has the right to be with Collider(obviously not to act the way he did),
He is their Star Wars person, his show for them covers everything Star Wars down to even the comics, books and merchandise weekly
but Collider sends 1 freelance writer and a regular writer instead and then wants him to shill it.

It's almost like it's his job to shill

Which would have been a reasonable subject for a conversation for him to have.

Off air.

Thats the grievance that starts the rant, he says he isn't going to shill it until he experiences it himself.

So its a valid discussion to be had with your managers, but before ever remotely going to air.
I see this mentioned before but how is it a valid discussion? He said being asked to discuss the coverage the group he works for is doing. That usually amounts to an interview with said person or discussing an article they put out about it. He doesn’t have to experience shit to do the above, which is his job.
