I saw lucifer as the actual plot driver by the end of the series, and iirc there was quite some challenge to his beliefs or rather wish. I'm not sure what you view his main purpose or will is as my memory is quite hazy and I'm afraid of spoiling it, but I felt (based on my interpretation) that it's very human by the end of the dayI do want to add that I think Lucifer himself wasn't written to his full potential. It's clear Carey wanted Lucifer to be a Dream surrogate -- mysterious, powerful, more of a motivator for the story than a protagonist. But where Dream's powers, actions, and motivations were constantly being questioned and developed, Lucifer's are often lacking. Sandman was so heavily about Dream warring against himself, becoming more human. Lucifer seems opposite, with him starting as an interesting, humanized character after his interactions with Dream, only to be shown more and more to be the Will of God set free. He does things to service his plans. His plans are never given purpose outside of being his will. Where Sandman created deeply empathetic stories which brought Dream closer to us, Lucifer's stories feel like they're further creating detatchment between him and the reader. And while there may be value in that as an idea, it dulls the moment to moment experience.

Oh right right.
Hello everyone, I haven't been here in a while. Mainly because I haven't been reading comics :( But now I'm reading IDW TMNT and loving it!
Nearly done with the first hardcover. Only got the first 2 but I'm probably gonna order more soon, I'm gonna burn through these
He's really not that negative lol
If your impression of him is just the tweets that get linked here you're going like a thin slice of him. He enjoys and praises things all the time.
And I thought wrestle era was a good community. What happened, Sage? Did you finally see the dude of them I've known all this time? 😂
Anyone here play Greedfall? Curious if its worth the $30, or if I should wait for a better sale. Already have a ton of shit to play, just really like the look of the game.
It isn't that he never posts anything positive, it's that there's a high volume of negative. I mean, he tweets a lot, so even if it was like 5% negativity, that would still be a lot of negativity.
The way I would describe it is that if he has a problem with anything, he'll say so every single time, and go into detail about why that is. And it's like...sometimes you gotta just let things go. Everything that's wrong doesn't need to be remarked upon.
Edit: The other things is that he will routinely buy/read comics he knows he isn't going to like, and then shits on them. That turns me off of wanting to follow a person immediately.
Yeah, the big thing for me is "his main purpose" remains completely unexplored 35 issues in. I just latched onto the Will of God thing because of one bit of backstory in which they described Michael and Samael as the first two creations of god, Michael being the power of God and Samael being the will. Michael would provide the energy source and Samael would form it into God's creations. And being that Lucifer doesn't have much explanation for what he's doing, I just assumed that it was a continuation of that idea. His need to shape, his need to be free of God's rules for his nature.I saw lucifer as the actual plot driver by the end of the series, and iirc there was quite some challenge to his beliefs or rather wish. As someone that read X-Men Inferno earlier this year, I am shocked Nanny and Orphan Maker are making headlines in 2019.
Also big Omni day! Injustice and Annihilation!
I don't have the strength to ignore the annihilation omnibus
maybe I'll do my trades as a giveaway for the thread if I can think of an idea
It's hard to resist because Marvel Cosmic has such a great, near comprehensive set of omnibus/OHC material from Annihilation on.
Eh. I liked the RE2make but I kinda forgot about it after a few months. The fact it's getting GOTY noms is kinda weird to me. There was much better stuff that came out this year than REhash 2.r3make is the only game that matters in 2020
sorry, but it's true
Not until they make a new Power Stone or Tech Romancer game. I would even settle for a new Rival Schools at this point.
so I guess it's Havok and Psylocke overseeing a bunch of evil people
dang, nice.yeah and I've got the omnibuses for conquest, road to war of kings, and war of kings. I can't not. learn from my mistakes yall
Hm, not quite my reading of it, but you're not super far off either. I read it quite long ago and don't much recall if there is a sudden shift by the second half or something, but I definitely had no doubt about what his main purpose was at the end and felt everything tied up rather nicelyYeah, the big thing for me is "his main purpose" remains completely unexplored 35 issues in. Yeah, definitely light comfort food reading. Can't really compare to the original Eastman & Laird comics but I do like their take on the origins here. Plus they're not rushing and they take time to develop the bond between Splinter and The Turtles and the other supporting characters. Nothing feels rushed.I need to get on that. A few (yikes) years ago I read the Works set in preparation for IDW's books and only read a few. Maybe that's some good holiday reading.
But not Realm of Kings? You are a pretender.yeah and I've got the omnibuses for conquest, road to war of kings, and war of kings. I can't not. learn from my mistakes yall
I think I've lost my love of weekly comics. What if hardcovers and omnibus format was always superior?
I love to get an entire run in a single book, even though reading smaller tpb's is more comfortable yeah. But for me omnibuses are mostly my preferred way of buying comics.Actual question: what do y'all like about omnibuses? I don't mean in the sense of digital vs. print, I mean omnibuses specifically.
Like, I have BKV's Runaways in three oversized HCs. But I wouldn't want all of those issues to be in a single HC. That just seems awkward and uncomfortable to read. It also seems like wear & tear would be greater over the years and decades, as the book's own mass works against it.

I don't buy them as much since I've gone digital, but I would absolutely buy a Gwenpool omnibus. I think the appeal is it's a nice way to collect an entire run, or a big portion of it in one book.Actual question: what do y'all like about omnibuses? It's a mix of things, I guess. I don't disagree that smaller oversized hardcovers are easier to read. Though they more often do have glued bindings, which sucks. They just take up a lot more shelf space than an omnibus, cost more in the long run, and are less reliably released. And I guess it's fair to say an omnibus looks better on the shelf, which I'll admit does matter to me.Actual question: what do y'all like about omnibuses? Well yeah, you're a giant manly man thanks to Ring Fit.
Easily done for meTrades would be the best if spoilers were impossible to come across, yea
Some stuff absolutely reads better collected. A prime example being Hickman's Manhattan Projects.now that is a take i cant get behind. depends completely on the writer.
