Exactly - for all my feelings about GoT, I will always be grateful for what it is about to do for big budget genre TV in it's void.
I could be wrong, but I took from the cover of Superman Smashes the Klan posted a few pages ago, with it's price and number badge, that they're taking them from OGNs to a traditional floppy miniseries, then trade.
Sure, the schools and libraries could just get the trades, but something seems lost in not going with that original specific focus.
edit: Looking at it again, it says $9.99, so that's probably the complete GN's story, but it's weird that they're presenting it like a floppy comic. I wonder how it'll appear physically.
The press release said it's gonna be three 80 page books for $9.99 that will be a graphic novel next year.
That also says a lot about comics as a medium trades are so much cheaper than buying floppies even when counting sales at times

Yup.
He did work for other games and he was on the sideshow statue design team until the workload got to be too much with comics. He did almost all of the He Man line and some Marvel statues like Captain Marvel
Huh. Go figure. I've always liked his art. Havent read any of his creator owned stuff, but the few things he has written for DC were good.

This is a great post. Took the words right out of my mouth. The sheer variety in Conan stories is what makes them exciting. And the nonlinear way they're told is one of the best parts. You end up seeing tremendous growth from young warrior to warrior king. I see a lot of Conan influence in Berserk, which I also love.

Reading Original Sin and some of the tie-ins since it was next in my reading of Aaron's run on Thor. Just finished the Thor/Loki tie-in and...................... is Loki canonically non-binary? This take on the Loki character is really fun and interesting, and I never enjoyed the character much at all in classic Thor stories (or in the MCU for that matter)
Yes. In Agent of Asgard Odin calls Loki "my son who is also my daughter."
Some thoughts on stuff I've been catching up on from this last week or two in comics:
Batman Universe #1 was awesome.I think it's been easy to imagine Batman as a good fit for Bendis since he came to DC, but at least my own brain navigates to noir-y Batman with Maleev (like in Event Leviathan right now) in the vein of his Daredevil work. This ain't that, but it was basically incredible, Derington makes all the difference I guess. The tone just entirely shifts, the layouts, or composition of the panels I guess, are inspired, and it's just a really fun engaging read. I liked the running gag of no-one knowing who Batman is actually speaking to a lot.
The Dreaming #11 was fantastic. It's been fun to see Spurrier go deeper into his own tangled web he's built for himself in the dreaming with this second arc, but also seeing more and more elements of the larger Sandman world from the original run seep in. Another book with gorgeous art. When they announced this book I didn't expect Evely to stay on past the first arc I guess, but here she is and the issues have just gotten more and more impressive with each new stop on the search for dream.
All New Doom Patrol #1: Less to say on this but I did really enjoy it. Half an issue of set up is always a little bit of a bummer but the playfulness of the editor's notes were great. Hard to tell if it would actually clarify things for new readers but they were a fun little story in their own right throughout the ish, and the resolution to the conundrum on Orbus (?) was hilarious. I actually laughed out loud at the panel where the villain screamed "I love classic rock!!!"
Sea of Stars #1 was really nice looking at least, Stephen Green is going to be great on that book, not only with the sheer visual spectacle , but I really enjoyed his expressions too. There wasone panel where the kid is ignoring his dad and I really did really think to myself "I know that look, the little shit...." hah. Mostly just fulfilling the solicit/premise but it was exciting visually at least, Renzi's color work was really dazzling in the wide space shots.
Oh and stretching back a little, I read the Mignola/Fegredo HB one shot from a feeeew weeks back. This was a genuinely good one shot and at least in my mind, the way I'd prefer to see Hellboy going forward, post BPRD finishing up. I don't need the continued adventures shoehorned in by other writers but if Mignola himself has a killer idea and a top of the line artist he wants to make it happen with, then fair game. Fegredo is still a treasure.

Reading X-Men: Second Coming now and truly loving this era. I honestly think post-M Day might be my favorite X-stuff. There is a real sense of desperation and urgency, where every death feels heavy and each character is pushed in interesting directions. X-Factor Investigations, Wells New Mutants, the young New X-Men, Yost X-Force, etc have all offered a lot of different vibes and kept this from feeling like a slog.
I also think that after 15 years of the X-Men pushed to the brink, it will be super refreshing to see Hickman's goal of bringing them to the forefront.

Emma really is the best X-Men member. She knows she is flawed and can do fucked up shit. She's like Cyclops but willing to be wrong at times and not a whiny bitch. She deserves better than Cyclops.
The 2007-2011 era of X-Men was great. From Messiah Complex all the way to right before Schism, it just did so much cool shit with the X-Men and had great runs.

Disappointed at, what? That they're using their popular character or that the character is popular? Somethings can't be helped. At best these stories will grapple with why people shouldn't like him as much as they do. At worst they're missable.
