Why did Johns leave DC? Just to work on TV/movie stuff? Kind of feels like everything he was building up with Rebirth and Doomsday Clock has fallen apart since he left his CCO position.

I was always under the impression WB allowed him to step down instead of being fired. That happened around the time Diane Nelson retired and Jon Berg was shuffled off of DC Films in WB (Berg and Johns were partners for planning the movie slate).

Yeah. Didio has been quite open about his feelings on the most prominent members of DC's 30-something legacies, most directly with Nightwing.

On Nightwing in Infinite Crisis

And again in 2018.

He shot down a few pitches for a Wally New 52 series (Manapul tried hard to bring Wally back in cameo and was firmly told no) and pushed for Barry's return in the first place.

So yeah, I know what we're working with and that whole mid-range of heroes, Grayson, Tim Drake, Connor, Wally, Kyle, Donna, etc, only exist as long as a writer of significant clout is willing to push for their return and continue writing them. (We only have Young Justice because Bendis pitched it.) Given his choice, Didio would rather have them gone to not age up the more "iconic" DC heroes. Tis what it is.

He didn't leave DC, he just stepped down from the CCO position for a different WB deal. Jim Lee is the current CCO. Johns is writing and producing the GLC film, working on the DCU TV shows, and doing Shazam. He was also supposed to have a line of books under the Killing Zone banner, but those were supposed to start in May of this year...

Didio is thinking too hard about this. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. And yeah, you can kill off Batman and Clark and whoever. But if you don't? Fans will be fine just ignoring it instead.

But then I've always been a fan of just answering it in canon. Let Bruce age. Get older. Then chuck him in the Lazarus Pit. Have him hit 47 then get dumped into the Pit and de-age into his early 30s. Boom.

Batman and Superman won't age but the obvious answer to that is to apply the same illusion of time moving forward to younger heroes.

Yea, the rumor was Ellis and Hitch were doing a Batman story. But one of them denied it, dont recall which one. But this was a month of two ago, way before the Tom King news.

Speaking of Bendis how well is his Superman run doing compared to Rebirth?
