Marvel and DC just happened to have weeklyish events happening and I went with it.

The OT is littered with mistakes and books that are already out tho lol (like Doom Patrol and Drowned earth)

Messi half-assing it now. Soon will be the time for Sillymonkey321 to shine.

Nah, its more I wanted to keep the event stuff uniform and it didn't feel right not having Doom Patrols final issue in there.

Sunstone getting delayed really fucked the op tho.

Been chipping away on my Frank Miller Daredevil re-read.

Finally got to issue 168, when Frank takes over so now the fun really begins! And what's he do in his first issue? introduces Elektra. And you can see the tone immediately shift into a more noir style. Let's go!

Amazing title lol

Brisson continues to be best X-writer right now. (Yes, even better than Taylor, don't @ me)

I also bought From Hell on sale. I see they're doing a colored version now, but ehhh. I'll read it as originally published.

I saw discussion on the comic of 2018. I'm not sure what I'd choose for that. On a technical level it's probably Immortal Hulk. On a pure enjoyment level it's Tony Stark: Iron Man. And on a fanboy level i wanna say The Green Lantern.

Its clearly Batman White Knight. Not sure what the discussion is for. Maybe runners up?

Probably about cereal. Geoff's a smart man and stays away from social media mostly.

I never even tried that book. The premise was trash IMO.

Anyway, this month looks...fantastic:

- The Green Lantern (my favorite writer on my favorite character, I'm gonna cry)
- Shazam
- Ironheart, yaaaay
- Doomsday Clock
- Wonder Woman (G. Willow Wilson rocks)
- Avengers 700
- Last issue of Lost Light
- Drowned Earth

DC's doing amazing, and Marvel's getting themselves together too!

I hope Wolverine is just part of the team in Uncanny X-Men, and they dont even acknowledge thats hes been gone lol. Im gunna be pissed if I have to wait another 6+ months for Wolverine to finally finish returning.

The Green Lantern is going to be sick.
Bitter Root!
Even White Knight Vol 2!

This is going to be a great time for comics.

I seriously haven't been paying attention, so it's news to me.

The next arc is 5 volumes about Ann and Alan before, during and after Ally and Lisa meet. They will both be in it. Arc after is another 5 with Marion and her bf. Final arc is about all of them. So as Sejic says...the next 20 years of his life lol.

If this isn't allowed, I'll kill the post but:

A comic by the name Book of Lyaxia is holding a kickstarter. I'm willing to vouch for it because I got a review copy once upon a time ago and thought it was legit good. Full disclosure is I do know the creative team, but I really do think it's a solid comic book. I've read the script for issue 2 and that's also looking pretty great. The writer won't give me the script for #3 even though it's done. Goddamn twat!

Also, Wayward is over and I am sad now :( Been following that one for what feels like a long time

Best comics I read all year were old books... Spinning and Hitman. Really enjoyed those.

For ongoings, Hulk is the best. The Young Animal books, Mister Miracle, Black Hammer, and BPRD are my other picks. The Spider-Man family books have all been strong the last few months too. It's a nice time to be a Spidey fan between Amazing, Spectacular, and Venom (wow!).

I need to catch up on The Wild Storm, but I'm sure that's up there too. Ellis doing WS stuff is always amazing.

On today's books:

Extermination #4: As guessed from the solicits, this mini is clearing the time-lost original X-Men off the board, and giving us a new spin on Cable, a popular character that hasn't had the same heat for a while. Given the end of this issue, my guess is there's probably some misdirection, involving a classic X-character who reappears here. Very strong work by Brisson, probably some of the best stuff he's turned out in the X-office. Good that he ends up on the Uncanny weekly.

Vault of Spiders #1: A bunch of small stories about alt-universe Spider-Folk. It wins entirely on the faux-manga based on Toei's Spider-Man toku. Fantastic.
Dq4sT9EX4AA2cCf.jpg

West Coast Avengers #3: I just love, love, love this team. It's like Young Avengers with old Hawkeye. This issue features giant Tigra versus other kaiju. A pure winner.

The Wild Storm #18: This slow-burn reintroduction of the Wildstorm universe continues to be damned fantastic. The beginnings of the Authority, Skywatch making its move, Deathblow coming back. I'll be grabbing that trade.

Drowned Earth #1: Two Justice League crossovers this week. In this one, intergalactic water gods return and decide to... drown the Earth. The oceans are rising and turning citizens into fish people.
Like Metal was about Batman, this is an Aquaman story. The stakes are set well, Batman can't respond, Superman is weak to the magic-powered invaders, Flash can't stop an entire ocean.

The Witching Hour #1: This is really the next part of the stuff that's already been set up in Justice League Dark. You can get by in Drowning Earth without reading Aquaman/JL. This requires you to read JLD. This is a fantastic issue, tying everything together and showing Wonder Woman as a badass, physically and emotionally. I love it. Tynion wins again.

I'm torn on Heroes in Crisis. It seems like it will read better in trade but it's also giving me unfortunate Identity Crisis vibes. I think King will definitely be able to do something poignant with mental health and capes but it's struggling under the monthly format more than some of his other works.

I know his Batman run has some very vocal detractors, but I'm loving his approach to Bruce's life and the question as to whether or not he can truly be happy.

I need to catch up on The Wild Storm, but I'm sure that's up there too. Ellis doing WS stuff is always amazing.

I read the first two issues but Ellis' notorious punctuality has finally convinced me to wait until after the hiatus before I jump into this.

The mental health stuff feels tacked on imo and some of these confessions either aren't too powerful or don't make sense to me.
