Anyone else do this? Chrome has been kinda slow as of late (I mean, it was always slow and taking a lot of system resources but even opening things like Google Photos kinda kills the experience)

How's Firefox nowadays? I haven't used it in around a decade. I kinda have to do some web dev stuff so I won't be completely out of Chrome

Firefox is very good. It has ublock and disconnect, which is all I need. The only thing from Chrome I miss is how pulling a tab off the tab bar works. It's a lot less natural in Firefox and I constantly drag a tab into my bookmarks bar by accident.

Firefox is in a really good state right now; it's kind of a pain switching over but it's not a bad idea atm.

It's gonna be the default the way Chrome was once those new AdBlock regulations go through.

It's great right now. Has been for a few years, since they fixed most of the major memory leaks and added multiprocess.

Switched from Chrome to Firefox about a month ago, no regrets. Also been toying around with Opera GX, which has been pretty nice. Not sure which one of end up sticking with, done with Chrome though.

I always go back and forth between chrome and Firefox, I am having some weird issues with chrome and watching video's online, VOD or live stream in which the audio keeps getting out of sync after 15 minutes or so but I found that other browsers also started having this problem so I have no idea what the issue might be.

Other than that I have to issues with chrome.

I'm considering it because of all the privacy stuff lately.

I'm testing it out on my work computer and the MAIN thing I don't like is that it is slower than Chrome. Pages load slower, sometimes typing in text boxes has an annoying delay. Certainly Google websites will be slower. I have a Google Sheet opened and just clicking around to a different cell there is a weird delay.

The only issues I have with firefox are the pauses when listening to google play music... It's almost like google are leaving it in to entice people to switch to chrome ;)

Is there an easy way to switch over passwords and bookmarks from Chrome or will that be a pain?

I've noticed that when you start FF, you can't immediately type into the URL bar. Well, you can, but instead of highlighting and deleting the default text, it just types in front of it...which is useless.

It's definitely not as streamlined as Chrome, but it's still pretty good.

I don't understand why it is really a problem to even consider switching. It's not like you are switching to a different operating system. It is just a browser. Try it and see if you like it. It costs zero money and you don't have to re-learn anything. It's just another icon on your desktop. Heck, go back and forth if one doesn't work well with something.

Desktop Firefox has been great ever since the Quantum update. Android Firefox is still a sluggish, not fun to use mobile browser unfortunately. However, they're working on a from-the-ground-up redesign of the mobile browser. It's called Firefox Preview/Fenix. I've been testing it for the last week and it's great, very sleek and responsive. It's still in closed beta so there are some features missing but it's very stable, at least in my experience thus far. Once this thing is more feature complete I plan to make it my main mobile browser so I can sync it with desktop Firefox. It's worth checking it out.

Firefox is real fast and good. I'm on Vivaldi because I like it but Firefox is good too and I might switch soon too.

Hopefully this isn't hijacking the thread since it is still about switching, but if it is feel free to delete.

What are some of your favorite/must-have add-ons for Firefox? I recently made the switch and could use some advice here.

I switched because of the ad thing that's coming up.

My main complaint is that while the mobile browser having ad blocker is nice, it also feels slower.

I started using FF in 2006, switched to Chrome after a few years due how slow FF got, then switched back after Quantum - and once I realized Google won't let me use the adblockers/tracking protection I want. Was a painless transition and while it does run slow sometimes (I'm the type with 20 tabs open anyway) I would say it's just as great as I remember it being way back when.

Is there a way to get in on that beta? Been wanting to playtest Fenix but didn't know its status

Wasn't until I got 32GB of RAM that Chrome felt like it used to for me. Shame.

I've sort of mained Firefox since they came out with the big update a while ago.

I fully switched last week. It's been great. The only downside I've seen is lack of built in flash. I have some work sites that still use flash, unfortunately. I'll just use Edge Chrome for those particular sites. I will not install stand alone flash ever again. All the extensions are there for my needs, Ublock Orgin, Last Pass, Better Twitch.tv, etc.

I switched this week. It was overall painless. Still upset at how unresponsive the new YouTube format is though. I'm using an extension that brings back the classic version.

I switched just the other day and haven't been happier. Feels good to get away from Chrome tbh.

That would likely be because you turned on 'Night Mode' in your Firefox app. On Era it doesn't seem to play nicely with the site themes. I only really use Era on my browser so I just turned Night Mode back off and haven't had problems since then.

Completed the switch this weekend, both on my laptop and mobile.

I remember when Google Chrome was the fucking shit back in the day, now it's just shit. Such a bloated mess, feels like the last days of Netscape Navigator. Google got sloppy.

GTFO @ Google banning ad-blockers, that's fucking rich of them.

Which is the better browser between Vivaldi and Firefox though? I've switched from Chrome to Vivaldi since it was a fast browser with a lot of neat features, but it became a bit sluggish in some things lately.

Guys I really tried. Ditched chrome on PC, and safari on ios and went firefox exclusively for 3 months. I hate it so much Im going back to giving google my information.

Overall performance seems a bit slower but my problem is that it only prompts to save passwords about 90% of the time. Ill go back to chrome to see if its a website problem. Nope, chrome gives a prompt immediately. Somehow autofilling forms is even worse at maybe 40%. Im gonna scream if I have to type in my address and credit card info one more time.
