Could anything make you not liberal?

Working on that also.
This popped into my head just now because a friend of mine from college keeps fighting with me on Facebook about politics. He just DM'd me about this guy named Thomas Sowell and I don't know anything about him but he seems like a asshole. Anyway he thinks this guy will convince me to not be liberal I guess. Which is hilarious for me to even think about. But it got me thinking is there anything that could convince me not to be liberal? I doubt it. How about you guys?

Nope. I legit despise conservative thinking. It's literally clinging to ideals, that are outdated and made this world a much shittier place. No. Never.

Guess it depends on the Overton Window and how it alters the definition of what's considered liberal.

Needless to say, there's a whole lot of shifting before that would even be a remote concern.

Edit: how the fuck does "that" get autocorrected into "Thanksgiving." Jesus Christ, Google.

not now. maybe if I had been born into money. but if that were the case every part of myself would be different, and it’s tough to say how the puzzle of my personality would fit together.

I support liberal and progressive policy because of facts, logic, and reason. I am against the opposite policy (conservative, theological, etc) because of facts, logic, and reason.

I'm a full-on socialist, so no, not really. It would take an act of a God I don't even believe in to make me into a conservative.

It was inaction, too willing to compromise, and milquetoast liberals that made me not be a liberal. I’m socialist.

I used to be more of a liberal than I realized, but the last 10 years have clarified my views and pushed me much further left, so yeah.

Nothing could push me to the right, if that’s what you meant?

a) Define "liberal".

b) This forum often feels like it's trying really hard to do just that.

c) Not gonna lie, there's a chance that a huge pile of money might do it.

if someone calls me a nazi i would drop my life long held beliefs of socialism and anti-capitalism and turn into a right wing extremist since that is apparently how things work. apart from that, probably no.

Not really. I believe as a whole we are better and stronger and conservatism is almost 100% against that. At least modern conservatism. So unless liberalism and liberal politicians abandoned equ rights for all, unions, and general legislation for the people over business and the rich exclusively, nothing would do that. But then my ideal would still be liberal, it would just be called something else.

Not socially, but if it turned out all the data and facts supporting progressive viewpoints were wrong I would change my mind on some things.

Nobody could convince me after living through 17 years of far right nationalist parties and poverty.

People have tried though.

Money. It’s quite simple and it’s been happening as I age. I see now why my Dad is conservative. He only votes democrat because he’s black and understands republicans really are not our friends and my mom forces him, he could give two shits. Politically I see myself becoming more like him if only to maintain my way of life. Money runs the world, it’s foolish to think it can be changed.

You become selfish and conservative as you get older. I kinda believe that. Maybe doesn't apply to many people I dunno.

Money is a social construct. We could collectively end that practice if we wanted to. The problem is getting to that point.
It won’t be done. I can’t see it. Money is such a motivating factor in society, and personally I’m not doing anything without some form of compensation. Doing it for “society” isn’t good enough. I need a direct benefit.

I support evidence based practice and I have never seen any evidence that conservative ideas are actually even close to being accurate.
I don't think such evidence exists so I highly doubt it.

No, because I'm not weak minded.
Pretty much this. The only people I know that have turned into a right-wing mind are people with poor trains of thought and who are way too easily affected by media. As a Spaniard, you wouldn't believe how many people I've known that have had that transition because of terrorism.

When I was younger, I was a card-carrying Republican. And brother, let me tell you- it's a dark place to be.

If there's a single inciting event, your worldview and beliefs were probably pretty shallow.

If anti capitalists completely took over and the other side weren't hateful horrible people I might reconsider my political stance.

No. Unless a world ending event hits. If like suddenly a billion refugees show up because water has run out on their continent and it becomes clear we would all die if we let them all in. In that case I might turn into an animal and just think about my closest family first by approving far right bills like building walls and shit and let people die. I like to think I wouldn't do that, but I was never driven into such a corner and humans become beyond selfish in such situations.

Raised sorta conservative and even identified as libertarian in early high school, but then I started to make more friends.
I'm a person of color and turns out I'm queer, so there really isn't going back to that sorta world view.
