RE2make will be OTS, DMCV will be cinematic action like God of War 4, SF6 will be another SF2 wank fest like SF4, and the Dino Crisis revival will be FPS open world survival with crafting.
B) Stop with the purity test.
C) There is no trend. All the Remasters of Action RE did over a million as well and RE 5/6 continue shifting units each quarter with RE 6 selling 300,000 last quarter alone. There is an argument to be made that Classic RE can make a comeback based off the HD sales, but you are framing this as a failure of Action RE sales wise which simply isn’t there.
I AM THE BULWARK OF THE OLD WAYS. I shall never stop lol.
Whoops. Double post.
I am an enthusiast of the classic styled RE, and hope that is the style they go with. However, despite that, RE4 rocked my goddamned world when it came out, and I STILL consider it one of the best games ever.
That said, to me, none of the action REs have even approached the brilliance of RE4.
RE5 was a good fun follow-up but didn't do much interesting aside from the coop.
RE6 is a trashfire (but an entertaining one nonetheless) with mechanics and scenarios that have no business being in an RE (but would like them more if they were in an original game that was...designed to better use them)
Haven't played Rev1 but heard it was mostly bland with a couple of neat parts
Rev2, which I am currently playing and immensely enjoying, still doesn't give me the feelings RE4 gave me back in the day. Even then, even if they never go back to my precious tank controls I hope they use Rev2 as a basis for going forward with Action RE. Not overdone like RE6, but feels acceptably scaled back and subdued to still feel tense and not go in your face with cool moves n shit.
But after all this time, for over a decade and a half of still-enjoyable games, I really wanted a good take on the games that made the series a classic staple.
The good sales and popularity of the HD REmasters showed that there is still a desire for these games, and was the catalyst for the RE2 remake being greenlit (or at least I'm pretty sure), so it does make sense that it would take from the gameplay of the remaster as a direct response.
Then RE7. Oh my, RE7. A slower paced game based on the classic REs, while not 1-1 or perfect, still shows they have it in them to design a classic style RE, even after all this time.
With Resident Evil, I now hunger for two things. One, for a continuation of the classic style of game, why I fell in love with the series as a child, and I mostly got with RE7, and hopefully with RE2make. Two, a follow-up to RE4 that gives me the feelings that it gave whist also transcending it, which none of the games after were able to do. Even Shinji Mikami's The Evil Within 1 and 2 have not been able to, while enjoyable havecsome glaring issues that don't allow them to share a pace with RE4 at the top. Maybe I'm just closed minded, but I'm becoming not sure ANY game will top RE4, so I almost can't fault any game.
This shit would be so boring with OTS aiming.
Its not just about the money you know...
If people really want a RE4 controls, why don't ask a RE4 remake instead of RE2 remake?
The RE community can be annoying sometimes...
you have Remake titles, you have new titles based on classic RE gameplay stuff like RE0 or Outbreak vol.1 and 2(Outbreak 3 please and Outbreak HD), and of course you have RE7 style titles. These all fit the mold of classic survival horror.
Revelations is action RE for the action RE fans.
Everyone gets what they want.
RE8 being FPS but improving on 7's flaws
RE2make being like REmake
REv3 (or whatever subtitle they give it) as a big budget co-op action horror shooter
Mercenaries HD with references from across the series
Is the obvious move for long term success, maximum goodwill and minimum fatigue, but alas the world has yet to recognize my genius.
If they went with a tps camera. They'd have to massively overhaul the scario and map to make it something even approaching fun.
RE2make with a ots camera has to be fully redesigned from the ground up. It'll be a totally different game altogether, like FF7R.
On a separate note, it is somewhat about the money. If these remakes keep performing well and bringing in profit, we'll see more of them and hopefully other games that have been brushed to the wayside by Capcom.
It's obvioisly a new Dino Crisis
XIII is a turn-based RPG. VII Remake is an action RPG.
Kind of hoping it’d be REV3 tbh
I want to see more of REmake 2 but there’s no way it’s that far along
And considering how long it has been since it was announced, it is likely quite far along.
Are you thinking of something else?
When it was announced they hadn’t even begun development. That was a little over two years ago. I would be shocked if it was anywhere close to completion
1st person would make it a remake. Like how changing the combat from turn based to action in FFVII makes it a remake
Vanilla REmake and what you're describing are remakes. Crash 3logy and SotC PS4 are remakes as well.
should be far along, not the opposite.
I don't think it's been in development for 2 years. More like 1.5.
Man oh man.
Resident Evil 6 was revealed in January out of nowhere.
Hope we get a trailer for REmake 2.
"I don't think you honestly like the classic games considering how hard you seem to be defending the crap that is action RE."
If not a purity test, what would you call this?
Revelations 3. February release. PS4, Xbone, Switch, Vita. YAS!
I'm sure if they ported remake to the PS2 it could have been a huge hit.
RE4 has tank controls, I don't get it why people complain about the first trilogy for having tank control, when they enjoyed RE4's tank control :/
The more I think about it, the more I feel they're going to stick with tank controls and fixed camera angles, because RE2's level design and enemy encounters were designed to compliment those mechanics. It wouldn't work effectively otherwise.
There's also just nothing as brilliant as REmake was overall. I loved Evil Within, Revelations 2, RE7, and Alien Isolation in the last few years. but we really need a REmake 2 that does what it's supposed to do.
Edit: I'm only concerned about their willingness to stay true to the original formula and their ability to deliver a faithful recreation. REmake was made more than 15 years ago, it was way before action RE got big. A lot has changed since then, and that includes the divisive opinion of the fan base and the departure of Shinji Mikami.
I guess I'm holding out for January 21.
Just like the empty space in the Nintendo VS account that was 100% going to be Smash Bros.
Stop doing this.
There's no way they let the 20th anniversary of RE2 come and go while saying nothing about REmake 2, so... REmake 2 reveal on the 21st. Book it.
I don't really want the game designed from the ground up around it tho
I still remember that thread from the old forum where people acted a fool by helpfully correcting the OP, factually stating that RE4 clearly doesn't have tank controls. Most of them did end up leaving with their tails between their legs though, so there is some hope yet.
Hate to rain on the parade here, but this is a normal practice for Twitter banners. The avatar clips in and a lot of people and companies just leave the entire left side of the banner blank instead of having the avatar cover something or them design around it.

I imagined that they would make RE2 like RE remastered
