Am I missing something? Because that tweet doesn't say anything new. Just it'll come at some point, they really should have a better timeline for it imo.

Are you planning to play the game? Did you rock the stress test? Do you enjoy Crackdown? Genuine questions? Truly.

No, I didn't like the other Crackdowns or the heavily inspired Saints Row games, so no interest in the SP, might mess with the MP if I get a Gamepass trial though, I do like destruction porn games. Relevance?

I think the fact that you can't join multiplayer matches as a party shows that they are using Azure resources and you're essentially limited to your region to deliver the experience. At least for now.

Also, the majority of Xbox One users are on S or original consoles. Even if the X could do it locally, it doubt it would be able to handle it for more than 1-2 players, not 10.

Oh, that sounds logical. Well, im really more interested in the tech behind this game than the game itself, thats why im genuinely curious about how all this stuff works. I hope it gets implemented in more games.
Maybe in a future consoles wont be beast CPU if they can rely on servers processing everything, right? even for SP games

Haha, alright. Well I've heard enough PR to not take anything for granted.

I remember getting Ashen on Gamepass on Windows 10.
Eh, I guess better safe than burnt. But I think his tweet was pretty clear and he just didn't want to commit to a date as it could be awhile off or weeks off for all we know. The official tweet doesn't really change that.

Joseph Staten already said that more first party studios are looking/working with the tech now. So hope we'll see more of it next gen.

Can you clarify what you mean by this?

The post you've made is inferring reviews are lenient toward Xbox, I have a hard time figuring out how anyone could come close to this conclusion. As in MCC's case, I don't know you could ask some reviewers on Twitter I guess, but I don't understand who they would hide things that break the game.

Microsoft's The Last Guardian.

Just put it out and get on the other side of it.

I'm still going to play it. Thanks, Gamepass!

This seems very dumb, but doesn't affect me since my friends won't be getting it at launch anyways, and I'm more interested in Campaign.

Still, weird choice.

I don't get why everyone is moaning about Party support when, based on my time with the Insider test, this is doing your friends a massive favour. Wrecking Zone is truly awful based on my experience, a janky mess.

That said, the latest footage of the campaign (which is from a different developer - Sumo) looks spiffing, which is the main thing because that's all I ever wanted from Crackdown.. is more Crackdown.

But in all seriousness, it's lame that a standard XBO feature is missing from the game day one.

Microsoft? They'd rather put the game out missing basic features then delay it. At some point this was approved and it was decided that the MP in its current form was okay to launch.

Considering the amount of setbacks the game has gone through, and the current state of MS's first party releases, I can definitely understand why they would release asap. Even if they missed the feature in question.

i won't have friends playing this game with me so meh. i assume no party in multiplayer is due to cloud physics and only matchmaking near by players for the lowest possible latency. grouping up can I guess break that. interesting problem to solve and tbh they should be clear and upfront on WHY they don't have the feature.

Believe it not, many people at a blast with wrecking zone, and playing with friends would make it even more fun.

Since when is the main mode of an open world shooter the multiplayer component. Like crackdown is about the open world and platform around collecting orbs.

Multiplayer is just a 3rd person arena shooter with a destructible environment. I found it kind of boring due to the auto aim. It's more about platforming than shooting.

I'm not sure if your trolling or serious ?

When people in topics on crackdown 3 since announcement here and the old place told everyone the main mode is the multiplayer. When for years the only mode shown and main features talked about were and are only in the multiplayer. Clearly the talk around this game has change at some point after I stopped paying attention due to zero idea of when the game would actually come out.

Again, that's not true.

The first actual look at multiplayer gameplay was during X018. Before that was 2015 which was only a tech demo.

The game got two showings at E3 which were both entirely focused on the SP.

There was very little about wrecking zone which could be described as janky.

The actual gameplay in the tech test was very polished.

How do you not have such a basic feature available at launch? I mean it makes no sense really. A game that's been delayed so long and they can't put that in? Really?

Where is all this nonsense about the game being announced as a multiplayer only game coming from?

They said from the start in 2014 that the game would have campaign that would also be playable in co-op. The big question mark was about how the cloud tech would be utilized. Luckily they decided to keep it out of the campaign so that Crackdown fans would get a traditional CD experience. :)

For me, the campaign was always the main attraction so the party stuff doesn't bother me personally. Hopefully it gets patched in quickly though. It's not a good look for a 1st party XB game to lack basic XBL features.

MS just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Xbox culture (I'm an expert), but multiplayer and friends are huge parts of it. It's not like it is on Playstation where you can become successful by creating single player games. If you screw multiplayer over on Xbox ecosystem, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the american public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Crackdown 3, nor will they purchase any of MS' games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but MS has alienated an entire market with this move.

Microsoft, publicly apologize and add friends to Crackdown 3 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Ahaha well done

I think this is the first time in a decade I've ever heard of a big game not having party support in an online game.

What an odd decision.

Can you clarify what you mean by this? Were Halo: MCC problems not largely overlooked by critics given their scope and degree to which the problems persisted? I can't explain what setup those reviewers had which I why I said I think MS is able to control that to some degree, but it appears that most didn't experience the same issues that plagued users at launch. Either something weird happened when it rolled out to everyone, or they were just dead lenient.
The MCC matchmaking issues didn't show up prior to launch, so there didn't seem to be anything to be lenient about. It simply didn't happen until it was live in production servers. It sucks, and they are obviously embarrassed about it, but it happened. And something like will happen again to someone... it's the nature of software.

This part of the game has only been in a playable state for around a year. Which is why the Campaign devs have been polishing a "finished" game for months.

I don't see the harm in delaying the game for another couple of months to make sure you have a fully functioning game with all the promised features at launch. Is this a "must get this out to get sales before end of the fiscal quarter" scenario?

I'm glad people enjoyed or are excited for this, and whilst I don't really want to berate the game much further, you can't help but laugh and be perplexed at this news.

How on Earth does this even happen? Such a basic feature being omitted (at least initially) from a tentpole title that was originally and primarily advertised with a multiplatform emphasis, plus one that has been in development for 5+ years by multiple studios and potentially hundreds of people, and a Microsoft exclusive no less (the platform that pioneered quality online console play and online/friends features).

It just doesn't make sense. So much around this game just reeks of mismanagement and problematic development, and that doesn't really incite a whole lot of confidence about the title itself.

Frankly I'm glad it's release is so soon. I want this game to come out so we can just move on and get it over with.

For me this is the last catastrophe from the original Xbox Ones vision.

Don't get me wrong, I'll enjoy the SP, because I love classic crackdown, but god damn am I ready for this new age of Xbox Game Studios output.

Another unfinished game from Microsoft. Last year had State of Decay 2 which was borderline unplayable & Sea Of Thieves which was bare bones & now this. I now understand their desperation for more studios because their first party is in shambles. Hopefully it improves starting with Gears 5.
