Honestly, this not being universally acclaimed makes me more excited! I'm part of the niche audience this game targets and I think niche games are way better if they are unapologetic about their nicheness

Everything points to this game being a true successor to Armored Core series, so I'm absolutely fine with that.
Now that I've finished Astral Chain, I'm ready to play this gem over the weekend.

Yeah, this is a niche genre and I'm glad it leans so hard into its niche. The second demo sold me, though I'm still interested to hear reviews from more folks who are into Armored Core-like games.

Funny enough, my main concern from the beginning was whether there'd be enough customization options. If there's one thing that these reviews confirm, it's that they are more than plentiful (or that there are too many of them and that's... somehow...bad?), so I'm golden.

I think this is going to be a game that the people that end up liking it, are gonna really like it. The people that aren't that way are gonna be super indifferent or down on it.

I think it looks rad as hell. Haven't played the new demo yet, waiting to play it with a friend. Probably won't use a voucher on it (have two left), but I could defintley see myself picking it up down the line.

This genre still needs a huge hit. I'm sure a more polished game will come either this gen or next gen. It just needs to control like Anthem but be designed as an actual videogame or something closer to Pacific Rim.

Anthem has you controlling exoskeletons that are close to your body size. DxM has mechs that are way bigger than you. Having put 70 hours in Anthem and 10 hours in both DxM demos, both are fine the way they are.

Awesome to see this one click with some people! I was pleasantly surprised at how positive the impressions of the newest demo were. I'm down to clown with this one after I wrap up Astral Chain and Control.

And Link's Awakening shit i forgot

Well, seems like a game I'll pull the trigger on at $30 or so. I really want to support the mech action genre, but eh.

I always thought the AC series looked cool but never got around to them, thinking they're a wee bit too complicated. I loved every aspect of the 2nd demo though. I'm sold.

These scores are great (for a mech game). I've wanted something like Armored Core for a while so I might check it out

want expecting much in terms of reviews
the average person probably doesn't like intense mech simulation

70's are around what I expected for this game. After playing the prologue demo, I didn't really care what any review said. I knew that I was loving what I was playing and would be getting it.

If anyone's curious, here's how the last Armored Core games did according to Metacritic just for some perspective.

AC2: 78
AC3: 74
AC4: 65
AC: For Answer: 62
ACV: 65
AC: Verdict Day: 66

So yeah, DxM is actually doing quite well. lol

I liked what I played of the demo but I don't think I can pick it up for a long time.

Com on, let's do it together. Don't you remember the days of customizing your mech for hours? I remember making mine red, white, and blue in my youthful pride for country. I was gonna save the world. Maybe this can bring back some of that innocent joy.

About what I expected it to be based off the demo.

Time to proselytize:

If you really like this game, check out Gundam!

If you can't stand this game, please don't let it scare you away from checking out Gundam!

If I make mine silver and green because I like the colors silver and green then together we shall save the world

Decided to do just that. Watching the original MSG right now for the first time in anticipation. Loved the DXM demo, and this anime is just getting me more hyped lol.

Probably would've given this game a chance a year ago, but there's just too much Switch content coming now, between Astral Chain, Marvel Alliance 3, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest XI, Mario Maker 2, Link's Awakening, and Luigi's Mansion 3 around the corner I'm having a tough time deciding on where to spend my two eShop vouchers on.

Still the reviews seem pretty good for the genre type.

Though I have my own preference and suggestions, I don't actually mind where people start. And I know people love G Gundam, but I can't in good faith sit idly by without saying something.
Oh it's a spinoff true and true, it's the Gundam core translated to super robot and minus the Pyrrhic victory, but it's good fun. Personally the original is a good place to start and even the dub has aged well.

Wasn't expecting this to get rave reviews considering the type of game it is but I have to say it's funny how Austin Walker is once again a bit of an outlier. Disliked Astral Chain a bunch when the majority loved it, loves this game when the majority are only "okay" with it.
I think it has to do with how AC was working with new ideas that can be hit or miss and DxM was working with old ideas with the devs being upfront about doing well with.

What the hell, one of the best mech games ever created has 62 metascore ?

I'm glad DxM is getting decent reviews. I probably won't be getting it day one because I really want to finish some games I've started before, I'm trying to get my shit together. But I'm excited to play this as soon as possible, probably before the end of the month.

Also, OP, please, please... Delete the Comic Sans font from your PC. There is no situation where it will be better than another stock font. Literally none.

That quote reads like the reason "objective" reviews shouldn't exist. Give me a review from a person with a palate and let th le reader decide. Reviewing by committee or what the perceived readership will agree with is the reason like GI's review of Thousand Year Door ruin public opinion on games. Don't review a thing based on what you think other people will feel. Review it on your experience and let people figure out if they value your viewpoint.

If you read the full review you'll find there's a subjective voice as well. To the same degree one would expect in most reviews.

I just picked something that seemed to show that that reviewer acknowledged that this will have differing appeal to specific audiences. In tone with this thread. Perhaps that wasn't the best choice on my part. The score appears based on his subjective thoughts, not an attempt at balancing the scales.

I'm not affiliated with NWR, just to be clear.

I enjoyed the demo, but I wish there was more to do in the bunker than fiddle with your mech, get plastic surgery, or eat ice-cream by yourself.
