previous thread - https://www.resetera.com/threads/daewon-shares-insight-on-nintendo-switch-sales-in-korea.27821/

Daewon, a distribution party for Nintendo Switch in Korea, has provided that there has been 135,737 HW units and 270,245 SW units of Switch sold so far.

Both Hardware and Software sales for Switch declined compared to the last quarter, as Q2 only moved 27,359 HW and 62,983 SW compared to last quarter's estimated HW sales of 53k and 100,924 SW sold. (SW sales was estimated to be around 126k for Q1)

Daewon noted that April and June sales for Nintendo Switch was rather weak (due to these month being the time frame where game consoles tend to not sell that well), and with titles like Super Mario Party, Pokemon LGPE and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the holiday, they stated they will focus on December, as it's the peak season of the year.

*Like I noted on the previous thread, Daewon isn't charge of the entire distribution of Switch in Korea. Analysts predict they are responsible for roughly 50% of the distribution.

Good to have some updates on Korea, Switch is not even 1 year old there. ~300k is encouraging and Q4 should push these sales even higher.

Can you share some of the problems Switch faces in Korea sinonobu ? To my understanding, the system UI lacks Korean language option among other problems. The efforts for Nintendo outside core markets (Japan, North America, Europe) seem disappointing so far as a whole.

in short.
  1. no korean ui
  2. some of the big titles missing korean localization (Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
  3. bare-bone eshop where you are required to buy a code from Nintendo's website instead of buying it directly from it.
  4. inability to access online using korean switch account
So the "effort" from Nintendo of Korea has been disappointing as of now. (If we can even bother calling it an effort)

Thanks for the response! It seems the lackluster sales of Q2 in this case are more than deserved. I'm hoping these problems will be addressed very soon, because right now the Switch is just not good enough of a product for wider adoption.

That's exactly like here in Brazil.
