I had started DS2 again just before DS3 came out so I will be heading back to my time with Death and then I think DS1.
I seem to have encountered a game-breaking bug. I teleported away with Vulgrim right after getting the flame hollow. After dying, I no longer have access to the flame abilities (jumping or burning webs), so I can not destroy the first web beyond the hollow lord
Any known solutions to this?
Edit: Forced respawn does not solve the issue. Running the beta patch btw.
I actually want to get back to that area too to explore it more. Did you ever figure it out?
I see the loot and RPG elements cited a lot as a big divergence from 1 and 3, and to an extent, they are, but the big thing in 2 that separates it and brings it down is the sheer scale of the thing, IMO. There's just... to much game there. And so much of it is so similar - there's more "go and get 3 macguffin" fetchquests than you can swing a stick at. It's a shame, because the combat is excellent and the story and world design are pretty great (for the most part), but man does it drag on.Hmmm. You probably know this, but if you liked Darksiders 3, which you clearly did, maybe go back to Darksiders 1 and then play Darksiders 2.
With regard to scope and gameplay elements, 1 and 3 are similar.
Darksiders 2 goes deeper with its RPG aspects, and it has a looting element as well.
Darksiders 1 and 3 are light on the upgrade and leveling fronts, while you have to be conscious about your build in Darksiders 2.

What platform are you on?God this game sucks. I get to the sloth boss fight and theres 3 boss character models on screen. Two of which are inanimate but you can still damage. The third is floating in the middle of the air off his throne. Frame rates also chugging at like 10 frames per second making the whole damn thing unplayable. Of course I died. Game was barely running couldn't do anything.
Edit - And now the audio just broke and theres no sound. Wow.
Ugh, struggling a bit with Gluttony :/ Playing on balanced and this is the first boss that's giving me trouble.
I wish the save system wasn't so unclear and inconsistent. Sometimes I'll go back to Vulgrim and it'll save, other times it won't. And quitting the game isn't reliable either - sometimes you get put back at a checkpoint rather than the exact spot you left.
They've should have copied the Souls save system where picking up an item or opening the inventory saves.
I've had 2 crashes in 20 hours, which isn't too bad, but it's still more than the zero I've had in other Unreal Engine 4 games.
And an hour after I post this, I get to a "get 3 to proceed" quest and Fury starts kvetching about exactly that. Holy shit I love this character. The tone of it is exactly right, too, dripping with in-universe irritation at the "creator" taking shortcuts, and the Watcher skeptical that such a thing as the rule of 3 even exists.I see the loot and RPG elements cited a lot as a big divergence from 1 and 3, and to an extent, they are, but the big thing in 2 that separates it and brings it down is the sheer scale of the thing, IMO. And then...
"Oh really? You think that when the GIANT STATUE moves its arms to form a BRIDGE to the EXIT, THAT's our way out?"
"...I was just excited. You don't have to be mean about it."
"Oh, yes I do."

I watched some of this game on youtube and have a friend who is playing it and it seems to be pretty awesome. Obviously there are criticisms you could level against it, but do you guys feel as though there's a serious disconnect between what reviewers are saying and what the game is offering?
Absolutely. The game is good at the very least.I watched some of this game on youtube and have a friend who is playing it and it seems to be pretty awesome. Yea, not to mention that many of the puzzles and environments feel really recycled despite some change in scenery in DS2. You will get so sick of maneuvering giant balls onto pressure plates with barely much deviation or variance throughout.
Back in the day I crushed DS1 on the 360 and then again on PC. I played DS2 on PC only once. It is always fun going back to these games and just enjoying them. I think all three games are great and stand on their own as individual entities that combine to a greater form.

Yes, very serious. This is some next level disconnect. Just beaten Greed and the game keeps getting better and better.I watched some of this game on youtube and have a friend who is playing it and it seems to be pretty awesome. Oh yeah. Me too. Took me around 20 tries. I think I had beaten all of the other bosses on the first try. His second form is really easy, but getting there isn't.
Cool!
Just beat Gluttony too after like 8/9 tries, definitely the hardest boss so far, but from what I've seen here I might be underleveled (level 18 at the moment).I finally got him, but that fight wasn't much fun. First boss I didn't like due to how fast he can dish out damage while it takes so long to drain him - he's hard to read which bothered me, but that could just be me :) Gluttony spoiler:good thing you only have to get his health to around 50% before the easy phase 2 kicks in - that was a relief.
Yes but who trusts reviewers when it comes to action gamesI watched some of this game on youtube and have a friend who is playing it and it seems to be pretty awesome. Shoud have used the force hollow.
It grounds you and makes that move useless.
Wow never knew this. That move didn't really bother me as much as the swipe since it has an easier tell.Shoud have used the force hollow.

Beated lust, the game continue to improve and for now is a solid 7,5-8/10
Every review below 7 for this game is a travesty, some flaws are pure bullshit.
Long walk if the boss kill you?? Maybe if you don't unlock the shortcut like dark souls...
No clear path? I have the worst memory and sense of orientation ever and i have no problem with this game.
Old mechanic? Wtf does that even mean??
It's the child of dark souls and metroid with the darksiders combat and lore.
BUY THIS GAME.
(sorry for my english)
Did you happen to save the footage or a screenshot for when that happened? That sounds Wild.
I don't get a few things. Unlike Dark Souls, reaching a "bonfire" doesn't re-up your estus. Which is a weird decision.
And I think if you die, your souls turn into a glowing blue orb thing. But if you die again, they're still there? Pretty sure they don't go away...

The more I play this on my One X, the more I wish I had gotten it on PC. Feel like 60 FPS is where this game and its combat really shine.
Still loving it though.
I was on another forum and they were complaining about the graphics comparing it to a PS2 game. I put the graphics settings on the lowest they could go and it still looks infinitely better than anything the PS2 could deliver. Agree with the performance issues, and seriously what is up with these reviews? This is a nice evolution of the series and more great times. Can't wait for 4 now.So I've finally received the game this weekend (thanks Black Friday shipping) and I'm ready to share some of my thoughts:
Performance:
Performance leaves a bit to be desired on an OG PS4, that much is true. But to be honest, a lot of games leave a bit to be desired on a 5 year old platform.
It can be a bit choppy in busier areas and the "pause while I'm loading textures and stuff" feature is annoying. That said, it fares better than the Last Guardian and doesn't do any worse than most From Software games imho.
Gameplay:
Oh my, the gameplay is just hands down amazing. The combat is easy to get into but there is so much to play around with.
I can't for the life of me fathom why reviewers would state the the combat is dumbed down. Not having skill trees doesn't mean combat isn't as deep.
Every hollow form brings new movesets and combo's to play around with.
The combat feels quick and responsive and each hollow form is an entire different beast altogether.
The puzzles/ dungeon aspect of the game feels a lot more organic. It's part of the environment instead of being dropped obviously as a makeshift gate to your level progression.
The difficulty at "challenging" is just that, it's challenging but definitely doable. I haven't been trumped in the way I've been with Soulsborne.
And if that wouldn't be your thing, there is still story mode. And if that is still too much, this just isn't your type of game.
Design:
It looks and feels every bit a Darksiders game. The graphics are in line with DS 1 and 2 but got a nice "nextgen" update.
Nothing too fancy, but the art direction did a great job to make it feel "triple A".
The level design is amazing and a welcome step away from DS 1 and 2. The large interconnected world works really well imho.
Not needing to wade through endless spaces of filler area on a horse is really appealing to me.
Discovering the world without a map but with a compass (bit of a needless accessory imho) works well since you have be perceptive of the world and remember where you're going, since backtracking is a big part of exploration.
I'm going to have to side with the group of "what were reviewers smoking".
I get criticism towards the performance of this game. All other criticism is just misplaced.
There is a deep combat system which could be compared to Soulsborne games, but truly stands well on its own.
When From started with Demon's Souls it wasn't a huge hit straight away. Darksiders started with it's own combat system around the same time, and I see this as the logical evolution of Darksiders 1 instead of it being an iteration of Soulsborne games.
The level design/ story and gameplay are just damn.good.fun. Sure it might not be a 9/10 or 10/10 game, but the low scores it has gotten are completely uncalled for.
8/10 in my book... and that's purely because of performance. If Gunfire can patch that, it'll easily creep up to a 9/10 to me.
You're right, 60fps is perfect for the combat. The problem is the framerate dips so much and so frequently, it's practically impossible to get a consistent experience. I ended up finishing the game with it locked to 30, and the resolution upped to 4K instead.
It doesnt drop if your standing all the way back at the door?GAME KILLING GLITCH
I've run into a game killing glitch on the Xbox.
Under tornado, first block puzzle. Block hovers in air and will not fall to conveyor belt. I can hit it with the throwing weapon, and it shifts back and forth, but will not drop. I've reset game, reinstalled game, traveled back and forth between Vulgrim points.
I see that at least 15 other people have reported this glitch on reddit.
Really disappointed, I'm 15 hours in. Hopefullly this is being worked on....
