GAME KILLING GLITCH

I've run into a game killing glitch on the Xbox.

Under tornado, first block puzzle. Block hovers in air and will not fall to conveyor belt. I can hit it with the throwing weapon, and it shifts back and forth, but will not drop. I've reset game, reinstalled game, traveled back and forth between Vulgrim points.

I see that at least 15 other people have reported this glitch on reddit.

Really disappointed, I'm 15 hours in. Hopefullly this is being worked on....
Try to inform them via twitter and email too.

You're right, 60fps is perfect for the combat. The problem is the framerate dips so much and so frequently, it's practically impossible to get a consistent experience. I ended up finishing the game with it locked to 30, and the resolution upped to 4K instead.

Hmm, maybe I'm not missing out too much then.

Just beat 2nd boss I think, game is awesome.

Some of those reviews are just not right.

I feel like this is where G-Sync would come in handy :p

Edit: wait a second... I saw a post in the PC performance thread with a user experiencing stuttering in G-Sync mode for this game.

Daaaaamn I really liked the Avarice fight. Nothing too complex, just simple mastery-required dodging. Nothing like getting a string of like 5 arcane counters.

The map is surprisingly open to alternate navigation - I half pursued 2 different paths before settling on the one that led to Avarice. Cool stuff.

Question: is that
alternate way out of the Maker's Forge, the one up top, really just a dead end? Bit disappointing if so, not even any cool stuff in there.

Yes, that path just leads to a couple items and a Human to rescue.

I also really liked it being open. Avarice was my first boss after getting the Flame Hollow but you could end up fighting Sloth or Gluttony instead just depending on which way you wander around. I think you could even do Avarice, Lust, Gluttony, then Wrath and just leave Sloth chilling out down there until right before Pride.

Yeah, I don't use Twitter, but I'll try to find their email. Really frustrating. I just checked the reddit thread and even more people are reporting the glitch. The game has saved right at the Vulgrim point, so I don't even know how it could be fixed. And because there's is only one save file I can't go back 15 or 20 minutes before or anything,

Defeated Gluttony yesterday. The 1st phase was a bit annoying but doable, the 2nd phase once I understood it was super easy.

Of course it depends on the hardware and the settings, but in exclusive fullscreen it's smooth 95% of the time for me. I wouldn't dream of locking it to 30.

I have a 7700K and a GTX 1080, and I'm running the game off an SSD. It was smooth for me through the first half of the game or so, but it got to the point where it was practically stuttering all the time. I still liked the game a lot, but the performance issues are a shame.

The game is a true return of "AA" games (whatever that means), warts and all.
I think you can definitely tell the limited budget of the game but also how the developers did the absolute best they could with it. You can tell that this is a game they really wanted to make.

You can tell that the world is definitely smaller than they probably envisioned (hence so many of the Sins are cramped together near each other) but I don't really mind. It's a shame that the Sins don't get a bit more screentime (I haven't finished the game yet, so maybe that's about to change) before you fight them tho.

One thing the game does absolutely right (and thank god for that) is enemy variety. One of my biggest worries was that throughout the game you will fight you standard "Melee - Ranged - Creature - Big dude" enemy types over and over and over and over again but there is actually a huge variety in enemy design and behavior in the game.

So overall it's....a good game. It's not gonna blow any minds but it is definitely not a 5/10 game for me. I hope we get to see Darksiders 4 at some point, Gunfire has really shown that they can deliver on the premise even on a smaller scale.

I just finished the game (PC), what a great ride. It was everything I wanted - and more than I expected them to be able to pull off with a more limited budget. This is exactly the type of game that's a much needed breath of fresh air, a game which we rarely see these days. The number of bosses/mini bosses and overall enemy variety really puts a lot of AAA games to shame. Everything is also quite well animated, it doesn't feel cheap in any way. Sure it lacks the overall crazy polish and scope of big budget games, but what's here is really, really good. Darksiders III is an easy recommendation to fans of action games.

I had three crashes before the patch and none after the patch. The game could use some performance optimization in places (mostly late game), but aside from that I don't think the game needs a lot of polish as I didn't encounter any other issues.

We got Darksiders III and it was good!

Since there seem to be a lot of threads about how poorly the game is doing, SteamSpy estimates that it sold between 50.000 and 100.000 copies on PC alone so far. I have no idea how accurate current day SteamSpy is but if those numbers are remotely true and if the developers really said they only need to sell 100.000 copies to break even (I don't know where that number is coming from, I only see people talking about it) it probably already passed that mark.

Finished this game a couple of days ago.
Initially I was not enjoying it at all. I really wanted to love it, but nothing was clicking. I couldn't get into the combat, the story or the setting at all.

At some point after the 3rd sin, the game clicked and I started to really enjoy it. Not sure what happened exactly, but I'm sure it was a combination of some good boss fights, a good mixture of abilities/weapons and the story starting to move.

I played the game on the 2nd highest difficulty setting, which I'm glad I did. However the game has the issue that alot of these sorts of games have - where you get slapped around early because you have no health and few abilities. The game then gets progressively easier despite enemies and bosses getting tougher. This results in the back half of the game feeling unusually easy and you can overcome any difficulty spikes with a couple of shards if you want to easy mode the battle. That said, I think Fury was great fun to fight with. The arcane attacks/counters were incredible and some of the combos were great to use. The whip was surprisingly satisfying and I really liked how intuitive it was to hold attack for AOE, or delay input for single target DPS.

The game had a stack of issues. It crashed or glitched on at least 5 ocassions, resulting in a restart and having to travel back. In terms of visuals, both Fury and the enemies/bosses looked pretty good, but the environments are truly awful. I honestly can't think of any areas that looked nice - it was just subways, caves and scaffolding everywhere. Very disappointing after the great areas in Darksiders 2.

I thought the story was pretty solid. Without spoiling anything, I think we got some answers on the bigger picture, who is scheming, and the role of the horsemen. However it was also my biggest issue with the game. More specifically, I really disliked how the game ended so quickly and simply. There was no big build up or indication it was ending. I didn't know how many sins I had actually killed and I happened to randomly teleport back to an area to hand in a relic - and all of a sudden I'm hit with a story altering choice. Within 15 minutes the game had wrapped up and I was watching credits. No final area/dungeon/tower to explore, no world ender type boss battle, nothing. Just more of the same areas and fights mixed with some cutscenes.

Anyway. No way the game ever deserved a 4 on a review scale, but otherwise I can understand where reviews where coming from. A good game, but I have little interest in returning to it.
Hoping we get Darksiders 4 at some point though!

'I couldn't drop any sort of number,' he said. 'I mean, we'd be happy if it [sold] a good 100,000 copies in the first few months.'

If the game had a limited budget, why are they selling it fully priced then? At $40 this would feel like a better deal IMO

Yes, this is most impressive part of the game, every area you reach brings lots of new enemies. It's much better in this respect than Nioh, where you've already seen almost every enemy type in the first couple of maps.

I assume there's some number crunching done by the publisher, rather than pulling numbers out of a hat. They might have worked out that they could make more money selling it at full price than 2/3 of it. They'd have to manage 50% extra sales numbers at $40 to get the same amount. Whether or not they could have achieved that is another question entirely, but I don't think any of us really have the data to judge which was the smarter financial decision.

I think the game get's a whole lot better once you finally.....FINALLY leave those god damn tunnels you get into almost immediately.

Ya for having a very obviously restrained budget and feeling rushed (in terms of technical performance), it is a game that actually gets better and better as it goes on and ends up ending extremely strong. It's final few hours are solid AF.

Haven't bought the game, but I'm keeping an eye on the updates to see if they fix/improve on the things that are making me hold off for now.

Here are today's patch notes on steam.

Horsemen!

We have the first patch ready for you.
Here is the complete list of fixes:

Improvements:
  • Multiple improvements to help performance and loading. Performance improvements should also significantly reduce stuttering in high-density areas.
  • Updated Story mode to be more forgiving.
  • Adjusted invulnerability windows across all difficulties. The windows are consistent on Balanced, Challenging and Apocalyptic and even more significant on easy.
  • Modified hit indicators for better readability.
  • Added version number on the main menu.

Fixes:
  • Added FOV scaling to keep correct FOV on 21:9 monitors.
  • Fixed various crash issues.
  • Added Force Respawn functionality. This option is available in the game options menu. It will kill Fury and return her to the last Vulgrim Waypoint that you visited. This option is a last resort to be used if you think you are stuck in an area for whatever reason.
  • Added functionality on Force respawn that will force the hollows to re-equip to Fury. This is for the issue where Fury's hollow abilities appear to have stopped working.
  • Fix for issue where Force blocks were getting stuck in Scar. If you have encountered this issue, it should destroy the stuck block, and if you come back to the area, it will reload the block in the correct starting area.
  • Fix for issue where certain stacked breakables wouldn't break in Bonelands.
  • Fix for issue that would break Gluttony fight. Fix should also fix saves that had this issue.
  • Fixed multiple issues where players can get Fury into unintended locations or unintended locations without expected Hollows (in some cases Force Respawn may need to be used).
  • Reduced Fafnir enhancement's damage output.

After I installed the patch today, I couldn't launch the game and had to turn everything off and back on before it worked.

I played it for a good few or several hours and made good progress. I defeated a couple of sins and met another one.

Question: [spoilers] I went underneath the church after meeting Pride, ventured into the Bone Lands and have found the second Vulgrim portal there.[/spoiler] How far am I?

Within Bonelands not far
In game, maybe 40%(assuming you got Avarice and Sloth)

Finished it while ERA was down. Been a while since I played the other two, but there's a lingering lore question I'm still unsure about.

What exactly is the Charred Council's problem with the Horsemen? They seem unusually willing to set up and kill their own enforcers for relatively petty reasons. My guess is that the Sins were released (by Lucifer, presumably) to influence/infect the Council and turn them away from their goal of balance. More than one Sin seems to indicate that the Council are no better, and being prideful would explain why they tried to straight up murder Fury for backtalk, literally immediately after she saved them from Envy.

I will not patch the game until I manage to beat it.
I started on Apocalyptic with the "old" difficulty and don't want to have it altered now. I'm almost done (should be 2 bosses left, and i think I did all secret bosses) and I'm having fun.

I was one hoping for a patch up until I had 12 hours played but since then (20 hours later) I'm having fun because everything clicked : I had good stats and some good enhancements that made the experience finally AWESOME.

I never got the impression the Charred Council were being affected by the sins. Seems like you need to be in close contact with them (the sins) to be directly affected by any magical bullshit. I think the Council are just incredibly arrogant and tired of Fury's shit so they sought to punish her like they did for War. It's not like they need them all on call anymore with the Apocalypse already triggered. The only question is whether Lucy has been whispering in their ears, too. He let loose the Sins via Lilith and set Fury up to fall, but it's hard to tell if the Council is aware and in on it. I don't think they are, I think they are just blindly arrogant.

They do want the Horsemen on a tight leash though since I presume they don't want them (as nephilim) to be running amok since they know they can just overpower everyone and everything if they want to.

I'm totally baffled right now. I'm at a point where I need to go across a big gap, right before
the angels. I had no idea how to get across, trying to glide a ton of times and then just one random time I got across by gliding. Then of course I blew the boss fight and have to get back. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get across again.

Someone straighten me out, please?

I mean at the very least Envy must have spent some time around them, so that she could impersonate a Watcher. Not really the sin represented, but it's possible she could have had some effect, weak as she was.

Once you've broken all the purple walls, you can herd the platform jellyfish in the warehouse outside to the big gap.

Just beat 2nd boss I think, game is awesome.

Some of those reviews are just not right.

I said the same thing at that moment.... i was like this game is not as bad as review saying...

but wait before final judgement, I think this is where problem start to rise (I was playing apocalypse difficulty so it probably don't help). This is not a 3-4/10 game, but this is very far from a 7-8 too.

Just finished the game... Loved it. Whoever said this was a 10-12 hour game was playing on easy and stuck to crit pathing (not that there is anything wrong with that), because the game is MASSIVE. My play through was on the second hardest difficulty, and I probably 95+ percented it in 30 hours. What makes it even more impressive is that unlike open world games, there is no wasted space here... Every square foot of the gigantic map serves a purpose.

The biggest thing I have to give a shout out to here is the level design. So many developers phone it in here, but it really was impressive the way the level design worked with the mechanics to create one of the most satisfying gameplay loops this year. The Darksiders series has always been said to lack an identity of it's own (the first game was described as God of War x Zelda), and to some extent I think it's true... Here I was constantly reminded of Metroid Prime and Dark Souls with a little old God of War (I don't think it's a coincidence that all those series have best in class level design as well), yet the whole time I was playing it truly felt like a DARKSIDERS game. It also comes to mind how structurally different each of the three games has been, yet they all have something about them that seems to fit a part of the greater whole. You can tell a lot of people who worked on the past games worked on this one as well, and I got the sense that this game really was a passion project for those who worked on it.

A shout out to the boss fights as well, easily the best of the year... I think Lust may have been my favorite. It's a bummer the sins weren't a bit more fleshed out but I really enjoyed the cutscenes before each battle (again, Lust was just great here). The story overall was very enjoyable,
I didn't see the twist coming at all... Who exactly was the "Envy" that you fought at the beginning?
and Fury as a character is probably my favorite of the horseman so far.

It's a shame about the technical issues... I had two hard crashes, one audio crash, and the framerate was very very rough at times on my base PS4. I feel like if the technical issues were ironed out this would easily be a 9-9.5/10 game. This game will proudly round out my top 3 games of the year with God of War and Celeste. Bravo to the team at Gunfire. Bring on Strife.

As much as I enjoy the game some design decisions really irks me and none of those have anything to do with budget. I really hate that the boss fights - which I find to be pretty difficulty - aren't checkpointed so, like in Dark Souls, I have to run around enemies for like 2-3 minutes each and every time. If I get hit once I might as well die and start over since that takes away a quarter or a third of my health. And decent health items are actually pretty expensive (a regular healing stone is like 1.000 Souls for me), plus you obviously loose all your souls when you die so I couldn't even buy any items if I wanted to.
I find the
Angelic Champion
fight especially frustrating since it takes a long time to get there, there is a really powerful enemy between you and the boss and you have to take out a bunch of fodder enemies right before the boss fight anyway.
I just don't enjoy that and I wish games would stop doing it. And when you then die because of a the bad camera it makes it even more annoying.

Great impressions. Man, I'm playing at 3440x1440, ultra wide, almost flawless 60 FPS after the latest patch. Pretty sure you'd love to give it a try if you're all praise with the base PS4 version, heh.

This new patch helps with the lock-on camera sooooo much. I love it. This game is awesome. I really hope there's some wave-based arena combat stuff in there somewhere.
