Thinking on it, Justice League got me to appreciate the lesser parts of BvS. I've talked negatively about the Doomsday fights before, but I'd take those over the Steppenwolf fights and JL's big CGI scenes. That's one of the faults that can't really be pinned on Joss.

Interestingly enough for Doomsday we were NOT allowed fo refer to it by its name at all. We were asked to refer to Doomsday as it's codename during the project (client reviews and notes) to keep it secret before the movie was released...

...which led to us being very confused when we got the 2nd trailer and it showed Doomsday in all of his glory

You know, I have zero issues with the things people generally had issues with: Eisenlex, Martha twist, urine in a jar, even the ding ding ding felt like a serious moment.

Only thing that bothered me was reiterating THREE times that people are nowhere to be found, even during nighttime in a metropolis. Man of Steel's collateral damage really did a number.

I honestly wish I could love BVS the way some of you guys do, but I just can't :/ Man of Steel I can always get behind, but BVS was too much Snyder for me.

Of course I say that and yet after I came out of JL the first thing I thought to myself was "Man I would have loved to have seen Snyder's cut of this" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While the "Is she with you?" line is a little silly the look Superman gives her when she says she's killed things from other worlds before is hilarious.

I've never really understood why the Martha moment was ridiculed to death. I mean, yeah of course it's heavy handed, but so is 90% of this movie. On my first viewing I thought it was a nice twist: Batman learns that his and Supes mother share the first name and it was the first time when he saw the human in him, so he doesn't kill him. And then I opened the internet...

I watched BvS early, before reviews or discussion had happened. Yeah, it was odd to see the evolution of it becoming this meme. Of the limited talk after those early screenings, it wasn't really a thing. Then you saw people, who hadn't seen the movie, read spoilers and pounce on that one moment. They sorta conditioned themselves to find it bad rather than having a natural reaction.

I saw it happen again with The Last Jedi. People were so mired in spoilers it formed their opinion before stepping into the theater. At a point it stops being about watching a movie for some people.

That said, the Martha scene could've been done with a cleaner execution.

Currently watching Batman v Superman. Got home and felt compelled. I know the general consensus and I understand the criticisms but this movie, in my opinion, is Snyder at his best. Justice League is not worthy of this movie's shadow as far as I'm concerned.

The opening is fantastic.

As is the rain sequence.

Regarding the Martha moment, I think its actually genius. Tying the resolution of the fight with Batman's origin and the moment that made him what he is was a great idea, and having his fathers last dying words be the thing that snaps him out of his murderous rage makes a lot of sense. My problem lies with what happened after. They really should have gotten rid of Batman and Supermans conversation. It fed into the idea that they were all of a sudden good mates after a fight to the death and it does seem ridiculous. I would just have Batman go on his own to save Martha and use Supermans sacrifice as the thing that completely quells the idea that he might be a threat.

As someone who liked Jl, it made me appreciate BvS more even with all its faults.

Give Snyder a Elseworlds story to adapt, like Red Son. He could make use of that heavy soviet totalitarian regime imagery to his favor.

Soldiers marching in slow mo with a imposing scary russian superman hovering menacingly over everyone during the obligatory opening montage

drunk soviet batman as V from V from Vendetta stand-in

-Bizarro superman

- Green lantern cameo

- Weird casting like danny devito as lex married to a Lindsey Lohan Lois Lane.

-Social commentary, prison harrasment, comicbook panel recreation porn

- Excellent cinematography with a Red filter over everything

- Everything looking bleak

- Junkie XL BWAM-BWAM-ing away in the soundtrack

- Clark: "If he dies, he dies".

BvS is a masterpiece compared to that JL trash.

Like after JL I wanted to watch BvS just to wash that filth away.

Man of steel is one of my favorite comic book movies, I put that right up there with Batman begins and winter soldier. First flight is some moving stuff, I'll never understand the hate for it.

We have our Flash director(s):

"Vacation" helmers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are in negotiations to direct "Flashpoint," the Flash's standalone feature starring Ezra Miller.

Warner Bros. had no comment.

The studio had initially courted Ben Affleck to return to the director's chair, but he passed on the gig. By tapping Daley and Goldstein, the studio seems to eye a comedic tone for the film, given the duo's directing background on movies like "Vacation" and the upcoming "Game Night" starring Jason Bateman.

I hated Vacation but if Game Night turned out solid enough I'm willing to get onboard this if only to give Ezra Miller a chance with his own Flash film.

With this duo getting the Flashpoint gig I can only assume that--

A) The studio, under Emmerich, want this film brought in for a price and these two will probably be able to do just that given that they cut their teeth at New Line under Emmerich and likely Hamada too. It won't be done on the cheap but it won't be some super extravagant, sprawling production either which, given how Justice League went for them, is probably a solid idea.

B) Word was that this live action adaptation, unlike the animated film, won't heavily feature Wonder Woman or Aquaman. I'm more inclined to believe that this will be the case and this film will be more of a Flash and (I'm assuming) Cyborg action romp rather than the all star Justice League 2.0 some predicted.

I knew WB wanted to keep Affleck on the lot but away from Batman (given his issues of the last couple of years) but offering him Flashpoint to direct is interesting. Perhaps a way to keep him in the DCU fold just not doing it onscreen? I wouldn't be surprised if Affleck ended up attached to one a Vertigo adaptation or one of those Elseworld label films in future.

I mean why reboot? They have solid actors and directors locked down now. Throw away everything when you can just make better movies seems to be the better path.
Talking about the long list of "Flashpoint can be used to fix": Batman isn't a killer anymore, #MySuperman, no more EisenLex, no more Leto Joker, etc. etc.

Meanwhile I just wanted them to burn the thing to the ground and start again. Your universe is messed up if Black Adam starring the Rock could be argued as being a safer film than a second solo Superman film.

Yeah but the rock is the biggest star right now, he has that effect. I mean just look at jumanji.

Yessir. It might be time for another viewing. One of the reasons why JL bothered me so much is because there's absolutely no trace of BvS's DNA in that movie. BvS feels bold. JL feels neutered. The Superman montage that begins with the Day of the Dead might be my favorite sequence in a comic book movie.

Game Night looks like a heaping pile of hot steaming garbage and Vacation sucked too... left swipe on this.

It's that kind of thinking that will land WB in a ton of trouble. They should be letting their DCEU story shape the movies, not who's more successful. The actor should serve the movie, we shouldn't be building movies to serve the actor... this DCEU/DCFU is already in shambles, to make short sighted decisions like that is the kind of thinking that landed them in the position they are now.

*HEY BATMAN IS NUMBER ONE, FORCE HIM INTO THE SUPERMAN MOVIE...HEY AVENGERS MADE MONEY, FORCE JUSTICE LEAGUE IN SUPERMAN MOVIE*

It's comes across as shallow, reactionary, and chasing money.

Let's not forget what the Russos made before their insane 180 with Winter Soldier

I'm not excited about this move, but I'll trust our possible savior Hamada

Game Night looking like shitt. Like an unfunny comedy remake of that David Fincher movie

Hopefully these guys quit the flash movie and WB stumbles on somebody better. Or whatever, they have been sleeping on the flash for too long now so hopefully it works out

I gotta admit, I was wrong. I thought Flash's solo pic was as good as dead.

So 2020 will bring Batman, Flasho, and...Deathstroke?
If they had to get a vacation movie director, at least the We're the Millers guy would've been better.
I haven't seen Vacation, but it can't possible be worse than We're the Millers

Yikes, so we went from potentially Zemeckis to these guys
I get the feeling they don't want to wait for him, they want to push forward across the board, and they want to spend the least amount of money as possible outside Wonder Woman and Batman. They'll figure out the rest at a later date only to be thrown out if Aquaman doesn't light the world on fire.

It is. The Charlie Day scene is funny but overall it is crappier than we're the Millers.

It's fair to be disappointed in this Flash development just the same as I'm excited by the prospect of Matt Reeves on Batman. Ain't like I'm writing off the movie yet.

I mean, I don't think WB would've chosen them if they thought Game Night was gonna be another bomb since they would know.

If Game Night turns out to be bust you can be sure WB will remove them from the directors chair.
