The ssr is way noisier than most games, some hallways look they're moving because of it. Really stands out in an otherwise visually stunning game
the game compiles shaders in loading screens and on the first boot. what you are thinking of is on-the-fly shader compilation which is done during gameplay every time there is a new shader displayed. It's been happening every single time I loaded a saved game since launch, up until I deleted the cache folder. I get that's not at all the way it's supposed to work, but it's also the only thing I changed, which is why I suspect something might have gone wrong with the initial compilation in my case. That or I'm wrong and falling for a placebo.
While messing around with this I also noticed that the game appears to compile some shaders on the fly, as opposed to a title like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection that does everything up front. I'm still in the early game, but while I can see folders and shaderdb.PcDx12 files for all of the weapons (including ones I haven't found yet), the same folders and files only exist for the suits that I have previously equipped.
Will be interesting to keep an eye on how this changes as I progress.
Yeah, I brought this up a couple of pages ago because it was bothering me as well. Too bad they didn't include an option for ray traced reflections. Maybe a future patch will somehow address the noise in the SSR implementation because it's very distracting. The ssr is way noisier than most games, some hallways look they're moving because of it. I think i give up. I just get these, like, freezes when turning quickly or walking into somewhere new like it's loading in something and then the exact same places run buttery smooth after the 'load'. Is this caching or something? Is there a way to accommodate for this?
Are any differentianting factors to the PC version over PS5/XSX? I mean, other than doing 60+ FPS I guess on the highest settings, but is there like, better shadow detail, high LOD (less pop-in) or anything along those lines? I'm starting to just move away from playing on my PC since the hassle associated with troubleshooting, settings all of it just isn't too motivating to me :(

Sorry, "on the fly" was a poor choice of words on my part. I've not observed or read of anyone reporting the type of just-in-time shader compilation stutter like that seen in Callisto Protocol. What I'm getting at is:
If this is occurring when players first enter an area's "loading zone" it could be exacerbating the asset loading/traversal stutter, at least the first time an area is entered.
- The game doesn't appear to compile all shaders on first boot.
- As far as I know, it's possible to play the entire game with only the initial loading screen.
- At least some shaders are therefore likely compiled during game play.
Do you happen to have the variables to change in NV Inspector? Im on older drivers so I wanna try it out. Doing 4k DLSSThe only fix is to manually adjust the LOD bias with NV Inspector. But as I've said I'm not sure that it's working with D3D12 and VK on the latest drivers.
Putting some sharpening on top would help but that's not really a fix, more of a band aid.

What?????The Games that DO (at least for me) make a difference:
Witcher 3 Complete Edition. I went from 108-110 DLSS3+Ultra RT to 118-125 in the same area (Novigrad)
I can confirm that I also see a good difference in Dead Space Remake, 20-30FPS more with the same settings.
Cities:Skylines jumps from 40-60FPS with my 100K population to 60-80FPS with ReBAR on
What the fuck this is a thing? I never heard about this until today.
That's fucking insane

Sounds like nvidia made a whitelist of games to support it because some games may have negative effects and the list is not easily tweak able anymore since last year. Accord to ppl from the same reddit topic. Then how did this guy made it work?Shouldn't Resizable BAR be on all the time if your hardware supports it?
IDK- this seems less like a fix and more like "hey, make sure you enable XMP on your RAM."
EDIT- ah, I see reading the thread it sounds like Dead Space doesn't use ReBAR by default?

Wait, this also benefit callisto protocol? The fps jump with rebar in callisto was even bigger than in dead space. Only gained a couple of percents in dead space. The gain in callisto was double digits.
What?! I thought all you had to do was make sure resizable bar was enabled in the bios? Had absolutely no idea it had to be enabled on a per game basis!
Just to make sure Ive got my system right:Yeap, there is a 25% performance increase with Resizable BAR. Pretty crazy if you ask me.
Just to make sure Ive got my system right:
1. Confirmed reBar is Yes through NVControl Panel
2. Got the latest version of Profile Inspector
3. Dead Space (Remake) rBAR Feature set to Enabled
4. rBar - Options is set to 0x000.... I assume this can stay at this value?

Wow...Just sitting at the main menu this increased my FPS by 10 -15 from mid 70s to ~90. Totally nuts that nvidia didnt have this set in their Game Ready driver.
You are using old version of inspector. Newer version has resize Bar under "5-Common" section.
Probably causing problems in some games and they are too lazy to bother testing themWow...Just sitting at the main menu this increased my FPS by 10 -15 from mid 70s to ~90. Totally nuts that nvidia didnt have this set in their Game Ready driver.
Yes, the newer versions just moved and relabeled to make it easier to find.
