I just want the haters served some crow, but I know even if DS scored 95+ they'd make up excuses and whine anyway.
They've already got their built in excuses. I've seen posters claim if it gets a a high score then the media doesnt have balls to judge Kojima critically, if it gets low 80s or dip into the 70s then it was reviewed correctly. Paraphrasing as I'm not going to go look for the quote.

I really don't understand people wanting games to bomb. Shouldn't us as gamers want every game to be good and do well?

I hope the review thread is policed a little stricter than most threads IF it turns into the shit show I dread it will.

I don't want people banned, but a few warnings wouldn't go amiss.

The review thread will be the same mess. Stay in the OT, that will probably be the only place without people going "DAE KOJIMA BAD????"

When a game is doing new things or trying to carve out it's own identity I absolutely want the game to succeed. Too many copy and paste games nowadays so whether I like this game or not it will still be a breath of fresh air.

It's the immaturity of people who play videogames. Not being interested in a game = wanting it to fail and bomb so you didn't miss out on anything. Don't want people to like things you don't like.

It's the number 1 reason why people hate Kojima so much. They don't agree with the praise he gets from fans. "Stop being fans of a director whose games I find overrated".

Apologies for the amount of thread marks to both posters here and lurkers of the Internet. I messed up on them, apologies.

Who knows, maybe fedex delivery man will be the shakeup that the industry needs, maybe it won't change a thing, but it's new and different so I applaud him for even pitching this thing.

Can I get a source on that one chief? Not calling you out just curious lol. I understand being skeptical but this dude is literally answering questions in Discord right now and says that certain side missions are forced onto the player if they haven't done them already.

Apparently there are moments where you have to wait until the next story mission by doing sidequests. Kinda like Spider-Man.

He said it over several interviews and I also believe he said it in the gameplay demos. Maybe the guy is referring to some mandatory side missions for tutorial purposes.
Also, if they're mandatory to story progression, they can't be called side mission, imo.

It's weird people talk like they have stuff riding on how games are received. Like if you've made a bet with your mates about the meta score that's cool or whatever. But a lot of people seem to be acting like they got some stock options in these companies lol

Finally

For new page, new fake stream hype in 30 minutes

It's prolly just gonna be the 20 minute TGS demo they've been showing around at events lately. They all promised 'exclusive trailers' but it was literally just that :(

I checked their Twitter and it's verified + they've got 84k subs so I guess it's legitimate and they got the go-ahead from Sony:

i mean i guess i'm down to watch the TGS footage again lol

The thing about side missions and tediousness are strange. I imagine its like every game in which you are usually forced to do the side missions as a tutorial to side missions in general.

vestan did any impressions about difficulty get mentioned yet? I'm curious how these things change in that "casual" difficulty that was mentioned before.

I'm so fucking excited for the OST too. Like not that album they're releasing, Ludvig Forsell's score.

feel like that hasn't been talked about enough. Everything we've heard sounds phenomenal

I watched the TGS footage again with english subtitles and now im even more hyped. This chill gameplay with amazing visuals, atmosphere and music is right up to my alley. Toss in a decent story with kojima cutscenes and I know i will enjoy the hell out of this game.

I spoke to Quinton about this, but I feel a lot of people are going to be mad once they get their hands on Death Stranding because they didn't get the thing THEY expected the game to give them. Kojima's been pretty straightforward about what this game is about and what the tin says so yeah.

I'm eagerly anticipating the "DS IS A BORING WALKING SIMULATOR" takes on Era.

Aye, it's wild. Most major releases here and across the net-at-large have bizarre narratives pushed and weird cold wars between tribes of users apropos to their perceived success/failure. But usually there's more substance to the inevitable outcries. In the case of Death Stranding, those tribes are going to form full of people who expected to be playing something that is not at all what was advertised, due to an outdated perception of Hideo Kojima as a marketing trickster -- some sort of modern Loki. He's not. He's been candid and clear about how this game will be played and when it turns out that what folks have been seeing in pre-release footage is in fact the gist of it this particular cold war is going to be at once scathing and perplexing.

"LTTP: Death Stranding AKA Wait just a walking simulator after all???" incoming.

It's really going to be something special for those of us who dig this sort of thing, I think. Can't say for certain before playing it myself but I'm more convinced of that by the week.

I think what amazes me most about this is that we have like 80-90 minutes of gameplay--we know what it is--and folks are stunned it is what it is?

Yep, I was sold back when the initial 50 minute demo came out and I realized Kojima wanted to make a game where the element of traversal was more involved gameplay then simply pushing up on a stick until you reach your destination marker.

If that's what this game delivers, meaningful traversal, alongside a decent story, good music, nice stealth/combat sections, I'm pretty set.

I love that stuff in games.

I'm gonna get home Friday night, get a few cold IPAs lined up, order some pizza, close the curtains and turn out the lights, boot up this barren world and just get lost in it. Take me, Kojima - wherever the fuck you want.

I know it's unproductive since Kojima really wants to make something new and different to what he made before, but I know for a fact I'm gonna want to rank DS with the MGS games.

thinking about where it could fall all the time. My ranking is 2>3>1>4>5.

honestly they're all fucking great to me. If DS manages to even break 5, that's already a sign I'll love the game. I love 1, 2 and 3 too much so I don't think it'll break that. In general, to break 5 it'll need a really good story and good gameplay , to break 4 it'd need a really great story, gameplay and some great bosses I think. but who knows, that may change when the game releases. To get past 1 and up it'd really need to excel and be extremely memorable with bosses, setpieces and level design along with a great ass story.

what are you guys ranking and thoughts?
