The funny thing I noticed in those threads is that the notion that Kojima, who was the vice president of Konami, had a far bigger leverage for negotiation seems impossible to some people.
It's like for some people, Sony owns Kojima and Kojima like it. For some people, Kojima just want a blank check to make games and not care about the business aspect and is even glad to be owned by Sony.
Sorry to break some fantasies here, but it's not how things work.
Believe it or not, if you only care about making games, about being a creator, you're even more interested in protecting your creation. The idea that Kojima after taking the boot and taken away his creations (Snatcher, Policenauts and more importantly Metal Gear) would just accept a deal without any ownership sounds far fetched to say the least.
Because otherwise, Sony could've just hired him or outright bought KojiPro. It didn't happen. There's nothing crazy in the idea that (in fact, that's what the deleted Medium QA said and what the SIE PR implies) KojiPro wants to self publish the game on PC and that Sony wants ownership on consoles, which is where it matters the most to them. There's nothing crazy in the idea that Kojima has at least a little saying in what's happening, especially after the whole Konami thing.
