This reminds me of the endless back and forth that happened for the N Sane Trilogy. Some people were sure it would stay exclusive, and some people were acting like the game coming to other platforms was the most obvious thing ever. There were hints everywhere, and then stuff that would deconfirm those hints... It lasted almost a year.
And then CTR remake was rumored and it was a whole other thing because the deal with Sony was different, this time they actually owned the game so it was yet again impossible to be multiplat... There's always some rules, until there isn't.

EGS: Strictly speaking about ERA, people who are annoyed/pissed are because less options are given to them. Not more.
Hello Games: I'm sure only pc players complained about NMS. No PS4 players did.
In the case of Death stranding and other exclusives, you litterally have people annoyed people are getting MORE options.
